Amakhosi may have made several changes in the off-season, but their woes look to be continuing

The 2018/19 Premier Soccer League (PSL) season may have only started recently, but this this has not stopped Kaizer Chiefs mentor Giovanni Solinas from lamenting the effects of fatigue on his side.

Following a 1-1 draw with Baroka on Tuesday evening, Chiefs are now winless after three league games.

This has certainly not gone down well with fans, who are beginning to get on the back of the Italian mentor in spite of the recent win over Free State Stars in the MTN8.

Nonetheless, after what can only be described as a rather tired looking performance, the Chiefs coach has bemoaned his side’s fixture schedule.

“This fixture [list], this calendar is for the robot, not a human being. It’s not possible to play every two days and travel,” Solinas told the media in the aftermath of Tuesday’s result.

“So, we travelled for four hours [from Johannesburg to Polokwane], no time for recovery and no time for training, so it’s a big problem. But this is the schedule and we accept it,” he added.

It took a majestic free kick by Siphiwe Tshabalala before half-time to draw Chiefs level and ensure that they walked away with a point from the clash.

After the game, Solinas though was adamant that Bakgaga’s inactivity last week is what held them in good stead.

“In the second half, we were fatigued and Baroka had a big advantage, because they did not play on Saturday,” Solinas suggested.

“They are fresh and my players played on Saturday, travel and no time for recovery, no time for training, so in the end of the game, we feel a little fatigued,” he continued.

Solinas and his troops certainly won’t have much time to rest as the games continue to come in thick and fast. On Friday night, the Glamour Boys will return to the pitch as they take on an out-of-form Maritzburg United in Pietermaritzburg.
