ATK's marquee player has revealed that he plans to leave India for a week to celebrate Christmas with his family...

ATK coach Teddy Sheringham rubbished news of Robbie Keane leaving the country to enjoy a Christmas break with his family. There were quotes attributed to the former Manchester United striker stating that his star striker would enjoy more than a week-long break.

However, Sheringham did a u-turn on Saturday evening after their 1-0 win over Delhi Dynamos where Keane scored the winner.

“I do not know where this is coming from. He is here to do his job and play football, be it anytime. I have played football during Christmas for more than 25 years. I am sure he has done for a long time now and will continue to do so,” said Sheringham.

However, minutes later in the mixed zone, Keane confirmed that he was indeed departing to celebrate Christmas with his family.

“I will be going back home for a few days. There are some players going home. Are you a policeman? I am just going home for a few days to spend Christmas with the family,” said the 38-year-old striker.

Keane has already left Kolkata earlier this morning (Sunday) and is expected to be back on January 1st, 2018.
