Kano Pillars head coach Ibrahim Musa believes his side's 4-2 local friendly win over Giodano FC will help them improve their form in the Nigerian top-flight this season.
The Sai Masu Gida Boys bowed 1-0 to league leaders Lobi Stars at the Aper Aku Stadium last Sunday and were preparing to face struggling Heartland at the Sani Abacha Stadium on Sunday.
On Wednesday, goals from Auwalu Ali, Rabiu Ali, Nzube Aneazemba and Yusuf Maigoro helped Musa's side silenced their non-league Kano-based opponents at the same venue.
And the gaffer feels the result and lessons learned from the test-match will inspire them to victory over the Naze Millionaires at the weekend.
“We [Kano Pillars] enjoyed the challenge and good competition we from the friendly against Giadodo," Musa told Goal.
"We [Pillars] needed the game to keep the players in shape and also assess ourselves ahead of our two upcoming games. It was a good test of fitness and experience for our players.
"We have learned one or two things from the friendly match and It will get us better prepared for our next games against Heartland and Akwa United. They are two important matches.
“I'm happy with the performance of my players and I believe that the victory will definitely improve the team's form. We are strategising well and getting set for our upcoming matches."
