The trio were not included in their fixture with Go Round midweek which they won 2-0 and the People’s Elephant coach, Usman Abdallah affirmed that they will still be properly examined later on Friday before a decision is made on their availability for the tough league tie.
He pointed out that the three players were responding to treatment but that the technical crew won’t like to take risks with their health knowing that they still have other games to play if they are not around for the fixture.
“We will have the composition of the 20 players that will be playing tomorrow (Friday) after the final training in the morning,” Abdallah told Goal.
“We are looking at Ibenegbu, Dimgba, and Ogbonnaya who are making progress from their injuries but we want to examine them properly with the medical team before deciding on what is best for them and for the team. We won’t want to jeopardize their season because of the game with Akwa United.
“Ibenegbu has not played since the injury he got against Bidvest Wits of South Africa in the Caf Confederation Cup tie while Dimgba and Ogbonnaya are both just coming back. We are also examining one or two players with little discomfort and at the end of our findings; we will draw up a list of those that will be playing.”
