Enugu Rangers’ Ifeanyi George has stressed that it won’t be easy for them to beat Defence FC of Ethiopia whom they are scheduled to meet in the Caf Confederation Cup preliminary round later this month.
The Flying Antelopes got the berth to represent Nigeria in the second tier club competition after their dramatic victory in the final of the Federation Cup against Kano Pillars and George in a chat disclosed that they must take their Ethiopian foes seriously if they do not want to get kicked out.
He said it is germane for them to start preparations for the games with Defence FC and the other two competitions they will be participating in this season.
The former Enyimba striker warned against further delay with their preparations with the first leg barely three weeks away.
“I don’t have much to say now than to say that Defence FC will be tough,” George told Goal.
“We must prepare very well for them and try as much as possible to show them over the course of both legs that we are better than them. We can’t over-emphasize the importance of adequate preparations because without that we can’t get what we want.
“We don’t know much about them but we have to concentrate on our own preparations to ensure that we get ourselves prepared and ready when it is time to face them towards the end of the month. We must not disappoint Nigerians and the time to start our build-up for the task ahead is now.”
