Despite starting the season off like a house on fire, City are currently four matches without a win with their last victory coming against Free State Stars last month, and following the Citizens recent 1-1 draw where they once again surrendered their lead at the death, McCarthy has hit out at his players.
In the aftermath of the weekend’s disappointing draw, the 40-year-old lamented his side’s ability to throw away games from winning positions, and has hinted that he is running out of ideas as his players are not listening to his instructions.
“That was a Mike Tyson hammer blow,” McCarthy was quoted by Daily Sun as saying.
“My players just don’t listen to instructions, it’s that simple. We get so many chances and don’t punish the opposition. It happens too often with this team. I’m getting to a point where. . . I don’t know,” he lamented.
“Maybe I don’t speak the proper language or I need to go and learn to speak a language my players could understand, because the simplest, basic things they don’t do right.
“We play well, but we let teams off the hook too many times,” he concluded.
