A draw leaves Home United with a slender advantage going into the second leg...

Ceres Negros 1-1 Home United (Powell 8' - Cernak 23')

Ceres Negros were held 1-1 in Philippines by Singapore's Home United to take an away goal advantage into the second leg of the ASEAN Zone final.

Ceres made a bright opening to the game and were rewarded as early as in the eighth minute. Blake Powell was taken down in the box Shakir Hamzah and the referee awarded Ceres a penalty. Powell himself took the spotkick and converted to hand his side the lead.

But Home United equalised through a counter in the 23rd minute which produced a corner. Izzdin Shafiq’s in-swinging corner found Shahril Ishak whose header bounced back off the woodwork. Isaka Cernak reacted the quickest to turn the ball in.

Though the rest of the half witnessed end-to-end action, a goal would elude either team. Ceres dominated the second half in periods but just could not force a go-ahead goal. Home United also had their chances but now must wait till the second leg to make a decisive contribution.
