But while interest in Tavares has been sparse, Forest were reportedly the front-runners to sign him.

But negotiations between the two sides have been ongoing for several weeks although Romano has reported that an agreement has been reached over a deal. The Gunners will get a loan-fee of around £2m while Forest also have an option to buy Tavares for around £12m next summer.

In an official statement, Real Sociedad have confirmed that they have signed Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney on loan for the rest of the season. The 26-year-old has been linked with an exit although, despite interest from across Europe, reports indicated that Tierney was keen on a move to Sociedad.

The full-back had dropped down the pecking order at Arsenal and was keen on leaving the club in a bid for regular game-time. However, both clubs have confirmed that the deal includes no option or obligation to buy as Arsenal expects Tierney back at the end of the season.

As per transfer expert Rudy Galetti, Arsenal have created a four-man shortlist to replace the injured Jurrien Timber with the club looking to reinforce their squad.
