While Roma are bound for a semi-final tie against Bayer Leverkusen next month, Feyenoord will return to Eredivisie action at the weekend as they look to stride closer to their first league title since 2017.

Though it took a late equaliser and further goals in extra time, Roma make it through to the Europa League semi-finals at Feyenoord's expense thanks to a win inspired by substitute Paulo Dybala. Just back from injury, the mercurial forward stepped off the bench to unlock the visitors' determined defence and send the time into an additional 30 minutes, and victory was finally sealed by captain Lorenzo Pellegrini, who missed a penalty in last week's first leg. 46' OFF THE POST! Pellegrini strikes the upright! Almost straight from the kick-off, Roma charge forward, and Zalewski's inswinging cross is turned against the left-hand post by their skipper from close range! It then bounces away to safety via Bijlow's thigh!

46' Roma kick off the second half of this second-leg clash, and we are back under way at Stadio Olimpico!

1' Two Feyenoord defenders, Hancko and Hartman, combine delightfully on the left side of Roma's area, but when the latter pulls the ball back for Gimenez to strike from close range, Mancini manages to get in the way.

The half-time scoreline shouldn't really come as a surprise: While Roma have now failed to score a first-half goal in eight of their 12 Europa League games this term, Feyenoord have stopped opponents from finding the net during the first half eight times - only Roma (nine) have done so more often!

There have been few clear-cut chances in a fraught first half, and after Roma's bright start their visitors have perhaps had the better of proceedings. Szymanski's close-range miss should instead have given a Feyenoord a two-goal advantage in the tie, but as things stand, a single goal for the hosts would take us into extra-time. Some extraordinary scenes on the touchline saw Roma's assistant manager sent off before the break, and with several players already on yellow cards it could be a tempestuous conclusion at the Olimpico.

45' + 5' Following Smalling's long punt up from the back, El Shaarawy is caught offside, and it seems as though the first half will end goalless.

45' + 3' A more straightforward assignment for Patricio results in the Portuguese goalkeeper easily claiming a hopeful cross from the right by Jahanbakhsh. There are two minutes remaining of first-half stoppage time.

45' + 1' SAVE! More unconvincing goalkeeping from Patricio sees the stopper just about manage to divert Szymanski's powerful shot over the crossbar! He used his fists in the end, and at least concedes only a corner.

44' Another 25-yard free-kick from Pellegrini is unsuccessful; on this occasion the Roma captain strikes the defensive wall with his mishit effort, and his claims for a handball are ignored.

42' An awful attempt from almost 30 yards out sees Mancini miss the target by several yards, and the Roma defender woud have been better to clip the ball back into the box.

41' At the second attempt, Patricio gathers the ball at his near post, after Idrissi drives a shot from the left side of the box straight at him.

40' Having taken his time to line up the strike, Pellegrini now curls in a tame free-kick which is directed straight at the waiting Bijlow.

31' CLOSE! Pellegrini demonstrates great vision from the right-back position to release El Shaarawy down the centre. After the substitute races into plenty of space, he steers his shot from the edge of the box narrowly over Bijlow's crossbar!

29' Now on top, Feyenoord continue to turn the screw, and Smalling must react quickly to divert a firm 20-yard drive by Kokcu wide of the post.

27' After the VAR delay, Feyenoord finally sling their corner into the heart of Roma's area, but Matic is well placed to hack the ball clear.

25' PENALTY CLAIM DENIED! Alert covering from Llorente denies Szymanski a clear header at the back post, as the midfielder connects with an angled ball from the left. Feyenoord's appeals for a penalty due to handball are dismissed by the officials, though!

23' Though Spinazzola skips clear down the left flank before clipping the ball into the box, Feyenoord manage to clear the danger and continue to keep their hosts at bay. They have a lead to defend and are coping well enough in that regard.

Feyenoord, meanwhile, are unchanged from last week's encounter. The Dutch side welcomed back first-choice goalkeeper Bijlow from a wrist injury for the first leg and he starts again today. The visitors are captained from midfield by Kokcu, while Gimenez starts up front.

Roma forwards Dybala and Abraham were both forced off with injuries in Rotterdam and are only fit enough for the bench today, so Belotti leads the hosts' attack, with Wijnaldum and Pellegrini supporting from behind. Like Wijnaldum, wing-back Rick Karsdorp started out at Feyenoord, but he is the Giallorossi's only major injury absentee.

Victory last Thursday saw Feyenoord take advantage of Lorenzo Pellegrini's penalty miss to claim a first-leg lead via Mats Wieffer's volleyed finish, as the Eredivisie leaders took a significant step towards the semi-finals. Eliminating the team that denied them victory in last year's Conference League final would be particularly sweet for Arne Slot's side, who were 3-0 winners against Cambuur at the weekend to stay eight points clear at the top of the domestic standings. However, Feyenoord have lost six of their previous nine games in Italy - most recently versus Lazio in this season's Europa League group stage.

After a close contest in Rotterdam last week, Roma reconvene with Feyenoord in the Italian capital today, as the two teams battle it out for a place in the Europa League semi-finals. A 1-0 defeat at De Kuip saw last year's Europa Conference League winners lose to the club they beat in that competition's inaugural final, and they now have 90 minutes to make up that deficit back on home soil. Jose Mourinho's men won a third straight Serie A game without conceding last weekend, and their 3-0 win over Udinese puts them fourth in the table; down from third following a successful appeal by Juventus against their points deduction.
