  1. WHAT HAPPENED?

The Portuguese superstar has won the biggest prize in European club football on five occasions. The first of those successes came during his first stint at Manchester United, while four triumphs were taken in with Real Madrid.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Ronaldo - who has also represented Sporting, Juventus and Al-Nassr in his remarkable career – is the all-time leading goalscorer in Champions League history with 140 efforts to his name. He has also scored more international goals (123) than any other player in the men’s games and has 200 caps for Portugal.

  3. AND WHAT'S MORE

He helped his country to European Championship glory in 2016 and a Nations League title in 2019, but has never won the World Cup – unlike eternal rival Lionel Messi, who landed that prize in 2022. Ronaldo has now been quizzed on whether failure in FIFA’s flagship event eats away at him.

  4. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Ronaldo admits that undergoing a lie detector test is one of his “hardest challenges yet”, with the 38-year-old being left with nowhere to hide as he faces a series of yes or no answer questions that are intended to reveal his true feelings on a number of subjects.
