Egypt have named their starting lineup to face Senegal in the final of the Africa cup of Nations at the Paul Biya Stadium in Yaounde on Sunday.

This will be the fifth encounter between the finalists at Afcon and the first such meeting since 2006, with Egypt winning 2-1 in the semi-final on their way to lifting the trophy that year.

This is how Egypt line up:

  • Egypt goalkeeper Mohamed Abou Gabal.

    Goalkeeper: Mohamed Abou Gabal

Gabal - with his top-notch performances especially in the shootouts against Ivory Coast and Cameroon - has given the Egyptians a new lease of hope.

He has impressively deputised for Mohamed El Shenawy - the first choice goalkeeper - who was injured during the Round of 16 against Ivory Coast late in the second half.

  • Emam Ashour of Egypt.

    Right-back - Emam Ashour

With Omar Kamal suspended due to the accumulation of yellow cards, Ashour has been drafted into the starting lineup in the only change made by the Pharaohs for the do-or-die final game.

  • Mahmoud Hamdy of Egypt.

    Centre-back - Mahmoud Hamdy

The 26-year-old is among the defenders named in the starting XI to carry the dreams of Egypt who are playing in their ninth final (excluding final groups) at Afcon.

Hamdy will be involved, replacing Ahmed Hegazy, who was ruled out of the tournament after he picked up an injury during their 2-1 victory against Atlas Lions.

  • Mohamed Abdelmonem of Egypt Afcon 2021.

    Centre-back - Mohamed Abdelmonem

Abdelmonem has established himself as a shining star in the 33rd Afcon edition, and he is expected to repeat the previous impressive performances as the Pharaohs look for a record eighth title.

  • Ahmed El Fotouh of Egypt.

    Left-back - Ahmed El Fotouh

The Zamalek star - who played for 120 minutes against the Indomitable Lions in the semis - earns another start.

  • Amr El Solia - egypt - arab cup 2021 - qatar

    Midfielder - Amr El Solia

The Al Ahly midfielder has been heavily involved for the North Africans in the competition and has been included in the ultimate side to face Senegal, who are looking for a maiden African title.

  • Hamdy Fathy of Egypt.

    Midfielder - Hamdy Fathy

Fathy did not face Morocco but was named for the gruelling Cameroon tussle. He has kept his first-team slot as they battle the Teranga Lions, who are playing in their third Africa Cup of Nations final.

  • Mohamed Elneny of Egypt.

    Midfielder - Mohamed Elneny

The Arsenal man received a yellow card during the Cameroon game before he was substituted in the 86th minute and has been named as a starter again.

Being in the first XI means Elneny will have played in each and every game for Egypt in the 2021 Afcon finals.

  • Mohamed Salah of Egypt challenged by Adam Masina of Morocco.

    Forward - Mohamed Salah

Salah is perhaps the Egyptian man under the most pressure as he leads them against their determined Afcon rivals.

Since his debut at the Nations Cup in January 2017, he’s been directly involved in 68 shots at goal for Egypt - 41 shots and 27 chances created - but, will he have the last laugh against his Liverpool teammate, Sadio Mane?

  • Omar Mohamed Marmoush of Egypt.

    Forward - Omar Marmoush

The VfB Stuttgart forward is in the starting lineup again, although he has not contributed much in the goal-searching expedition so far.

  • Mostafa Mohamed Ahmed Abdalla of Egypt.

    Striker - Mostafa Mohamed

Mohamed faces the tough task of facing Senegal's backline - which has only conceded two goals in the competition - as he is the Pharaohs' man upfront.
