Cameroon celebrate Karl Toko Ekambi goal vs Comoros, Afcon 2021
The two Golden Boot contestants have shown how dangerous they are in front of goal and should, therefore, face the Stallions

Head coach Antonio Conceicao will predictably deploy his lethal striking partnership of Karl Toko Ekambi and Vincent Aboubakar in the Africa Cup of Nations third-place game against Burkina Faso on Saturday at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde.

The selection will also be influenced by the hope of finishing the tournament as the third-best placed side after the Indomitable Lions failed to roar to the final.

  • Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana clears during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations Afcon.

    Goalkeeper: Andre Onana

Onana has featured in every match for the Indomitable Lions and is likely to play again as the five-time African champions strive to finish the tournament with a positive outcome.

  • Collins Fai of Cameroon.

    Right-back - Collins Fai

He has won the hearts of many fans in the tournament for his performances at right-back and his ability to produce pinpoint crosses into the penalty area.

The Al-Tai star should, therefore, be part of the starting XI.

  • Jean Castelletto of Cameroon during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

    Centre-back - Jean-Charles Castelletto

The defender could be making his fourth straight start as he solidifies his spot in the side and even for the future in the national team.

  • Michael Ngadeu Ngadjui of Cameroon.

    Centre-back - Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui

The 31-year-old defender has had a rather solid partnership with Castelletto and with Conceicao keen to see his charges register a further clean sheet, they should be named in the team.

  • Nouhou Tolo of Cameroon.

    Left-back - Nouhou Tolo

Conceicao has continuously trusted the 24-year -old with left-back assignments and, against the rather aggressive Stallions, he is expected to be involved.

  • Andre Zambo Anguissa of Cameroon.

    Midfielder - Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa

The coach should consider starting him as a chance to redeem himself after the penalty shootout mishap against Egypt. Anguissa, 26, has been a dominant figure in Cameroon's midfield and, given the need to dominate and frustrate Burkina Faso on Saturday, he should be drafted into the first XI.

  • James Lea Siliki of Cameroon.

    Midfielder: James Lea Siliki

Lea Siliki missed one of Cameroon's penalties against the Pharaohs after he had come on for Samuel Gouet, who had been yellow-carded a minute after the hour mark.

The coach should consider starting him as a chance to redeem himself as well.

  • Jean Onana of Cameroon.

    Midfielder - Jean Onana

With the need to play more attacking football, Onana could be lined up against the West Africans, replacing Martin Hongla, who is more of a defence-oriented midfielder.

  • Clinton N'Jie of Cameroon.

    Forward - Clinton N'Jie

Despite failing to convert his spot-kick in the semi-final, the Dynamo Moscow right-winger could start ahead of Moumi Ngamaleu, whom he replaced in the 86th minute during their match against Egypt.

  • Karl Toko Ekambi of Cameroon.

    Forwrad - Karl Toko Ekambi

One of the stars that really have shone for the 2017 champions and is in contention for the Golden Boot award after finding the back of the net on five occasions.

With that in mind, the technical bench will have to start him in order to boost his chances of winning the award.

  • Vincent Aboubakar - cameroon - Burkina Faso - afcon 2021

    Striker - Vincent Aboubakar

Just like Toko Ekambi and with six goals so far, the 30-year-old striker is the prime candidate to win the Golden Boot and will have to start in order to try and increase his tally.

He has exemplary led as a captain and he would surely be needed to be on the pitch as Cameroon play their last match at home.
