Betting Tips: Ranieri's Fulham headline an accumulator that pays over 10/1

Ahead of this weekend's football, our tipster has picked out four teams who excel in half of matches but may not be consistent enough to win the game

There is little more heartbreaking to a bettor than a team conceding late on and failing to take home what would otherwise be three points.

Results like these can break up an accumulator, as well as ensuring a losing single bet, but taking a slightly smarter approach to potentially close games by using the “Win Either Half” market can prove a success.

As the name suggests, this bet simply requires a team to win either half and does not need them to win, or even draw the game. This provides opportunity to back underdogs who might not have enough in the tank to win the match, or for when there is little to choose between two sides.

Ahead of this weekend's action, we have put together an acca featuring four teams that pays out around 21/2 (11.5).

Fulham vs Southampton – Fulham to win either half at 4/5 (1.80)

Stuart Armstrong Southampton 2018-19

The Cottagers have not made a good start to life back in the Premier League, sitting bottom of the league with just five points, but Claudio Ranieri’s first game as manager could change the record.

Four of the hosts’ six goals at Craven Cottage this season have come in the first half, whilst luckless Southampton have conceded 13 goals away from in just six games – with nine coming in the opening 45.

Hull vs Nottingham Forest – Nottingham Forest to win either half at 21/20 (2.05)

Forest are 19/10 (2.90) outsiders to win this match despite sitting seventh in the Championship and that is a price that many punters may take on, given that Hull are 22nd.

The visitors have won either half in eight of their last 10 games, despite only winning five of those games in total, which highlights just how useful this market can be.

Away from home this season, Forest have scored nine of their 12 goals in the second half whilst six of the nine goals Hull have conceded at the KCOM Stadium have been in that period.

Plymouth Argyle vs Fleetwood Town – Fleetwood to win either half at 17/20 (1.85)

Plymouth have lost four of their last six home games and could well go down again here to Joey Barton’s Fleetwood, who have scored 12 goals in their nine away games this term.

Nine of those dozen goals have come in the first half and with Plymouth keeping just one clean sheet at Home Park so far, there is little to suggest they can keep their visitors out here.

Crawley Town vs Crewe Alexandra – Crawley to win either half at 7/10 (1.70)

Crawley Town

Crawley’s impressive home record of 17 points from a possible 27 is unfortunately nullified by them claiming just six points on the road.

Only three teams have collected fewer away points than the Red Devils this season, and one of those is Crewe, who have won just one of a possible 18 halves away from Gresty Road.

Gabriele Cioffi’s men tend to come out of their shell in the second period of home games this season, having netted 15 of their 18 goals at Broadfield Stadium in the final 45 minutes.
