Commentary

That's all from Turin today, so thank you for joining us and goodbye!
Juve must wait until next Saturday before they can attempt to bounce back from a second successive Derby d'Italia defeat, when they meet lowly Cagliari, while Inter are next in action against Hellas Verona on the same day.
Hanging on for most of the match, Inter celebrate a backs-to-the-wall victory with their fans, as they hold firm to keep their Scudetto defence alive - Juventus, meanwhile, are surely out of title contention now. Having fired in shot after shot from the edge of the box or beyond, the hosts simply couldn't break down obdurate opponents - though did strike the woodwork twice - and succumbed to a goal from a penalty which Calhanoglu only fired home at the second attempt. That ends their 16-game unbeaten streak, while Inter move four points clear of their rivals in the Serie A standings, with a game still in hand.

Red Card
90' + 7' Red Card Mattia De Sciglio
90' + 7' FULL-TIME: JUVENTUS 0-1 INTER
90' + 6' Stretching every sinew under pressure from Darmian, the final chance of the game is headed wide by Vlahovic.
90' + 5' De Ligt falls to earth as if shot, following a finger to the face by Darmian, but the referee could not be less interested in giving him a penalty for his dubious attempts at chicanery.
90' + 4' Late drama defined both previous meetings between these teams this season - will we be treated to more of the same today? Juventus are fast running out of time.
90' + 2' In the second of five indicated stoppage-time minutes, Danilo heads over from a Dybala corner.
R. Gosens
E. Džeko
90' + 1' To waste a few more seconds, as the clock ticks down, Inzaghi replaces Dzeko with Gosens.
90' Perhaps a touch hastily, Bastoni celebrates as if Inter have scored a goal, as Dybala curls a wayward free-kick attempt well over Handanovic's crossbar.
89' Juventus have a free-kick in an excellent position to shoot from - just outside the right corner of the area - after Bernardeschi is brought down by Vidal's clumsy trip.
87' Inter are entrenched deep inside their defensive third now, as Juve throw everything at them. Skriniar heads the ball away with a diving header, as the champions dig in for the final push.
Arthur
A. Rabiot
85' Following a good shift in the engine room, Rabiot is replaced by Arthur for the final few minutes. Can the Brazilian finally unlock the door for Juventus?
F. Bernardeschi
J. Cuadrado
84' Allegri makes an alteration on the right flank, as Bernardeschi replaces Cuadrado.
83' With Juve's 19th fruitless shot of a frustrating game, Dybala chances his arm from outside the area, but Handanovic comfortably fields the ball in the centre of his goal.
80' De Ligt does well to shut down a rare Dzeko opportunity, as the veteran striker shapes to shoot on the right side of the Juventus area. Not long after, Correa skies a chance from the edge of the box.
R. Gagliardini
M. Brozović
78' Inter make another midfield change: Brozovic makes way for Gagliardini.
A. Vidal
H. Çalhanoğlu
78' Shortly after his booking, Calhanoglu is taken off by Inzaghi: Vidal comes on.
H. Çalhanoğlu
Yellow Card
76' For a clear foul on Dybala in midfield, Calhanoglu is the latest man booked.
I. Perišić
Yellow Card
75' Another mistimed challenge in this ill-tempered clash sees Perisic shown a yellow card.
74' OFF THE POST! After evading challenges by the retreating Brozovic and Skriniar, a surging Zakaria unleashes a powerful 20-yard strike towards the bottom-left corner, but the ball thuds back off the base of the post and Inter survive again! That's twice Juve have rattled the goal frame.
M. Kean
Álvaro Morata
73' Mostly a marginal figure this season, Kean gets some minutes to help Juve salvage the game; Morata comes off.
M. De Sciglio
Alex Sandro
73' Allegri swaps his left-backs, as Alex Sandro is substituted and De Sciglio is thrown on.
71' Both Morata and D'Ambrosio are fit to rejoin the action, as the game gets back under way - heading into its final 20 minutes.
69' Play is brought to an urgent halt by the referee, as a tangle of bodies in the Inter area sees D'Ambrosio and Morata flattened by the giant frame of Handanovic, who crashes to earth after punching the ball away.
66' Chasing down an apparently lost cause, Cuadrado cuts the ball back from the right byline towards Morata, stationed by the penalty spot, but the striker can only turn the ball harmlessly wide under pressure from a fast-closing Nerazzurri jersey. It seems that the ball had gone out in any case, but Juventus must be more precise in the box.
64' After the 1-1 draw at San Siro in the reverse fixture, Inter would remain unbeaten in both league matches against Juventus for the first time since 2008-09 if they can hold on for another half an hour here.
62' CLOSE! Rabiot surges through the centre of the pitch, picking out Vlahovic on the edge of the area, but the striker's quick turn and shot flies wide of the goal under pressure from the recovering Skriniar.
M. Darmian
D. Dumfries
59' Inter make a change on the right wing, as Dumfries makes way for Darmian.
J. Correa
Lautaro Martínez
59' Still off-colour today, Martinez departs before the hour-mark, and his compatriot Correa comes on.
58' After a couple of Juventus attempts at forcing a chance from corners, Morata is brought down by Perisic and the hosts have another free-kick.
56' Bastoni intercepts at the last moment, as Dybala tries to steer a close-range shot from a tight angle goalwards, following a slick passing move.
55' NO PENALTY! The hosts are out of luck, as the original decision of a free-kick stands following the VAR's intervention. Then Dybala's set-piece ultimately comes to nothing.
54' PENALTY? After a collision between Zakaria and Bastoni on the edge of the Inter area, the referee awards Juve a free-kick just outside the box. However, the VAR must now examine whether the contact actually occurred on the line. If so, Juventus will have a penalty!
51' Brozovic makes a good block deep inside his own area, after Dybala pulls the ball across for Vlahovic towards the six-yard box.
49' Cuadrado's free-kick from high up on the right flank is headed away first by Dumfries, at the back post, then Dzeko from near the penalty spot.
47' At the end of an early Inter attack, Barella plays in Dumfries, who has drifted in from the right, but the wing-back's shot is deflected and loops up safely into the waiting gloves of Szczesny at the near post.
46' We are back under way at the Allianz Stadium!
Though possession was almost equally shared between the teams during the first half, Juve had a clear strategy to shoot on sight - racking up 14 attempts, and several from outside the box. Leading by virtue of a controversial penalty, Inter have struck at goal just three times.
At the end of a frenetic and 55-minute-long half, Inter somehow lead their old rivals, who were by far the more assertive side in attacking areas but could not convert their chances. Fouls, bookings, blood; a penalty missed and re-taken - it was everything a derby should offer, but there has certainly been more perspiration than inspiration to this point. Juventus simply must win if they are to sneak into the title race over the coming weeks, so we can expect more drama in the second half.
45' + 10' HALF-TIME: JUVENTUS 0-1 INTER
45' + 8' Another shot rains in on Handanovic's goal, as Vlahovic shoots from the left side of the box, but misses past the right-hand post. Still no luck for the Old Lady!
45' + 7' Vlahovic and Cuadrado both have shots blocked from outside the box, as Juve attempt to haul themselves level before the break.
Penalty Goal
45' + 5' INTER LEAD! At the second attempt, Calhanoglu converts the penalty with a right-footed strike into the bottom left corner, leaving Szczesny well beaten on this occasion. Inter lead 1-0 on the cusp of half-time!
M. Škriniar
Yellow Card
45' + 4' Skriniar is also yellow-carded amid heated scenes in the Juventus penalty area.
J. Cuadrado
Yellow Card
45' + 4' For disputing the referee's call for Inter to re-take the penalty, Cuadrado is booked.
45' + 4' PENALTY RE-TAKE! Incredibly, the drama isn't over, as the VAR finds that Juventus players were encroaching into the area when Calhanoglu struck the original penalty, and now the Inter man has another chance to give the Nerazzurri the lead!
45' + 2' The VAR is called upon again, as there were a series of incidents in the area following the penalty - will Juve be awarded a goal after all?
Álvaro Morata
Yellow Card
45' + 1' Morata is booked for his foul on Dumfries - stepping on the Dutchman's foot.
Penalty Save
45' PENALTY SAVE! Calhanoglu opts to place his penalty straight down the middle, allowing Szczesny to make a save! However, the ball then ends up in the net via Rabiot's boot, after some penalty-box pinball. The referee blows up for a free-kick, though - no goal!
44' PENALTY FOR INTER! After checking the replays, the on-field official points to the spot: Inter have a penalty!
43' PENALTY? Against the run of play, Dumfries slips into the Juve box, and is brought down after Morata clumsily treads on his boot. It would be a soft penalty for the home side to concede, but the VAR has asked the referee to review the incident on the pitchside monitor!
41' The referee again exhibits some leniency, as Alex Sandro avoids a yellow card for lunging in on the charging Dumfries by the right touchline. This has been a feisty encounter so far, with plenty of niggle apparent.
39' Since the end of November, Juventus are one of only two sides in the top five European Leagues to remain undefeated, along with La Liga title contenders Sevilla. That has clearly bolstered their confidence, as they are the team on top today - the Bianconeri have drawn and lost their previous meetings with Inter this term.
37' Finally, the tempo relents, as a chaotic affair starts to settle down. Neither side have retained the ball particularly well, but Juve will be disappointed not to have taken the lead.
D. Zakaria
M. Locatelli
34' Bleeding and dazed after being struck by a high boot early on, a tearful Locatelli limps to the sideline; Zakaria makes his comeback from injury a little earlier than expected.
33' With blood still seeping from his head bandage, Locatelli crouches towards the ground, and Juventus ask for the ball to be put out of play - surely he can't go on?
32' Calhanoglu's shot from the centre of the area is blocked by a Bianconeri shirt, following a pass from Martinez.
31' In the opening half-hour, Juventus have attempted 11 shots at goal; finding the target with three so far. By contrast, Inter have managed just one.
29' Moments after Dybala fires a low shot straight at Handanovic from the edge of the box, Juve come again, as Morata has a powerful strike blocked inside the area! The hosts are throwing everything at this - if they are to work their way into Scudetto contention, they must win.
M. Locatelli
Yellow Card
27' As a long ball drops towards D'Ambrosio, Locatelli raises his boot to challenge for it; making forceful contact with the Inter defender's midriff. That's another yellow card.
24' After a spell on the turf, Chiellini is fit to continue following Martinez's challenge. He offers a few sage words of advice to his Inter counterparts too.
22' With apparent intent, Martinez applies a swinging boot to Chiellini's shins, but is fortunate to avoid another booking from the referee. Surely this game can't end 11-a-side at this rate?
20' A pair of Dybala crosses from the right - the first a corner - are both cleared away by the massed Inter defence, and the champions are merely hanging on to parity here.
18' Not long after his booking, Rabiot arrives late for a tackle on Martinez, and already the Juve midfielder is treading a thin line.
16' MISS! Inter survive once more, as Morata makes a hash of his back-post header, following a dipping cross from the right by Vlahovic. The ball sails wide from a tight angle, but the Spain striker should have done better. Still, what a start by the Bianconeri!
A. Rabiot
Yellow Card
15' For a crude challenge on Barella in midfield, Rabiot is rightly booked - they call this game the 'Derby' for a reason!
13' SAVE! Handanovic is again called into action, as Juve's lightning start shows no sign of slowing: this time, Cuadrado fires in a powerful effort from the right corner of the area and the Inter goalkeeper is able to palm it away!
11' Shortly after Vlahovic's shot is deflected behind by Skriniar for a corner, Dybala has an attempt at goal from outside the area, which flies over the crossbar.
9' OFF THE BAR! Inexplicably, Handanovic throws his fists at a Cuadrado cross; forcing the ball straight up in the air, under his crossbar. Amid a packed six-yard box, Chiellini reacts quickest to turn the ball towards goal, but it strikes the bar and is then cleared!
7' SAVE! Calhanoglu's outswinging corner from the right picks out Skriniar at the back post, and the defender's downward header is palmed away at the near post by an alert Szczesny!
5' Having selected an attacking lineup, Allegri's side push forward again, as Morata steers a header from the centre of the box over the crossbar, following Dybala's cross.
4' Locatelli lies prone for a minute or so, bringing the game to a halt. After some treatment and the application of a bandage to his bleeding head - an injury caused by the wayward studs of Martinez - the Juve man is fit to continue.
Lautaro Martínez
Yellow Card
2' Continuing an eventful start, Martinez is booked for swinging a high boot into the face of Locatelli in midfield - he will miss Inter's next Serie A match.
1' Danilo picks out Vlahovic on the right side of the box, by quickly diverting a pass from Cuadrado, and the Serbian striker tests Handanovic with a low shot in the very first minute! The Inter captain is more than equal to it, though, collecting the ball at his near post.
1' After both sets of players join together to watch a stirring rendition of John Lennon's 'Imagine', performed in support of the people of Ukraine, we are now under way in Turin!
The players are now out on the pitch, ready for one of the highlights of any Serie A season: the Derby d'Italia!
Inter have recently seen calf injuries suffered by Brozovic and Stefan de Vrij against Liverpool last month cost them two of Simone Inzaghi's regular starters, but the former returns to the team today. D'Ambrosio continues to cover for the latter in defence, while Martinez starts up front after being sidelined by COVID-19 - being joined by Dzeko in a familiar front two.
Juventus make a number of changes to the side which started against Salernitana a fortnight ago, as Morata, Locatelli and Alex Sandro come into the XI. A rumoured target for Inter in the next transfer window, Dybala retains his place up front. While long-term absentees Federico Chiesa, Weston McKennie and Kaio Jorge - plus the suspended Luca Pellegrini - are sidelined for Max Allegri's side, Bonucci is able to feature on the bench, where he is joined by Zakaria, who returns after a month-long injury layoff.
SUBS: Ionut Radu, Andrea Ranocchia, Alexis Sanchez, Roberto Gagliardini, Robin Gosens, Arturo Vidal, Joaquin Correa, Matias Vecino, Matteo Darmian, Felipe Caicedo, Stefan de Vrij, Federico Dimarco.
INTER (3-5-2): Samir Handanovic; Danilo D'Ambrosio, Milan Skriniar, Alessandro Bastoni; Denzel Dumfries, Hakan Calhanoglu, Nicolo Barella, Marcelo Brozovic, Ivan Perisic; Edin Dzeko, Lautaro Martinez.
SUBS: Mattia Perin, Carlo Pinsoglio, Arthur, Leonardo Bonucci, Mattia De Sciglio, Denis Zakaria, Daniele Rugani, Federico Bernardeschi, Moise Kean.
JUVENTUS (4-2-3-1): Wojciech Szczesny; Danilo, Matthijs de Ligt, Giorgio Chiellini, Alex Sandro; Manuel Locatelli, Adrien Rabiot; Juan Cuadrado, Paulo Dybala, Alvaro Morata; Dusan Vlahovic.
As well as exiting the Champions League at the hands of Liverpool, Inter's domestic form has wavered in recent weeks, having picked up only 11 points from their last nine Serie A matches - 10 fewer than Juventus during that time. Slipping to third place in the process, the Nerazzurri were held 1-1 by Fiorentina at San Siro last time out, and have also drawn each of their last four away fixtures in the top flight; scoring just twice. Not only that, but the Scudetto holders have won only one of their last 15 games against Juventus in Turin - and none since 2012.
Since Inter's Supercoppa Italiana success the last time these two giants of Calcio convened, Juventus have closed a double-figures gap between them in Serie A down to a single point before today's game. A 2-0 win over relegation-bound Salernitana just before the international break consolidated Juve's fourth spot in the standings; extending their unbeaten run to 16 league games - 11 of which they have won. Though today's visitors still have a potentially crucial game in hand, the Bianconeri can now leapfrog their old foes with victory in Turin.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of today's Derby d'Italia between Juventus and Inter at the Allianz Stadium!
