Commentary

That's all from us, we hope you enjoyed the game. Until the next one, goodbye!
A 2-1 win for Dortmund in their corresponding fixture with Union Berlin makes this victory all the more valuable for Bayern, keeping them two points clear of the Black-Yellows at the top of the Bundesliga tree. Freiburg remain fourth having missed the chance to move to within a point of Union, but are now within catching distance for RB Leipzig in fifth, who will overtake Die Breisgau should they win their game in hand.
De Ligt's winner for Bayern was an absolute rocket, and found the net despite having just 0.02 xG behind it. The Netherlands centre-back had an otherwise solid game, completing the second-most touches, passes and accurate passes of anyone on the pitch, and winning 10 of his team-high 16 duels, seven of which came in the air. He also won possession seven times, via two tackles, four clearances and an interception, with hosts Freiburg continually frustrated by his composure at both ends of the pitch.
With the late handbags brought to an abrupt halt, Bayern leave the pitch having wrapped up all three points here! Matthijs de Ligt's fantastic strike from distance eventually proved to be the difference, with the Bavarians dominating proceedings after making the breakthrough on 51 minutes. Mane, Pavard, Sane, Davies and Gnabry all went close thereafter, the latter hitting the post, as Bayern edged to a dominant victory in all aspects but the scoreline. Freiburg had some chances of their own, but only really troubled Sommer once late on via Sallai's volley. They remain fourth after a first defeat in eight games, while Bayern maintain their two-point lead at the Bundesliga's summit with just seven matches left to play.
90' + 6' FULL-TIME: FREIBURG 0-1 BAYERN MUNICH.
J. Kimmich
Yellow Card
90' + 6' Kimmich is also booked for his involvement in the exchange, with the referee showing quick-thinking and calmness there to prevent things from escalating further!
L. Höler
Yellow Card
90' + 6' It's all kicking off as the referee blows the full-time whistle, with the substituted Holer shoving Kimmich in the chest. That sparks a mass melee in the centre of the pitch, which is soon ended as the referee shows Holer a yellow card!
90' + 5' WIDE!! Jeong's cross to the back post is attacked by Ginter, but his headed effort doesn't connect with the ball cleanly and bounces into the side of Sommer's net!
90' + 4' OFF THE POST!!! Mazraoui drives forward and plays Gnabry in, with the Bayern forward turning his marker and standing up Flekken before releasing a shot, which cannons back off the far post and is cleared!
90' + 3' Kimmich's corner is scooped away as far as Gravenberch, whose delicate finish on the half-volley is an easy one for Flekken to hold.
90' + 2' SAVED!!! Gravenberch and Goretzka combine in midfield for the latter to tee up Gnabry, but his shot from the left side of the box is parried behind by the midriff of Flekken!
L. Kübler
Yellow Card
90' + 1' Kubler flies into Mane at some speed, with the wild challenge from the Freiburg right-back warranting a much-deserved yellow card.
90' We'll play FIVE added minutes to close out this game, and can Freiburg find a late spark to snatch a point from the champions?
J. Stanišić
João Cancelo
89' Cancelo also comes off, with Josip Stanisic a direct replacement for the on-loan Manchester City right-back.
N. Mazraoui
L. Sané
89' More late changes coming for Bayern, with Sane coming off for Noussair Mazraoui to help shore up the defence in the final moments of this game.
88' WIDE!!! Freiburg win a free-kick down the near touchline and Sallai swings the ball into the box. Ginter meets it at the back post to head across goal, but Sommer is able to leave the effort alone as it bounces wide of his left-hand upright!
86' Prior to this game, Freiburg (354 minutes) and Bayern (247) were the two sides to have spent the fewest time behind in games this season. No team has trailed for fewer minutes at home than Freiburg (41), while no side has been losing for fewer minutes on their travels than FCB (108).
N. Weißhaupt
R. Dōan
84' Doan has been lively throughout for the hosts, but the Japanese international comes off now for Noah Weisshaupt to see out the game.
Jeong Woo-Yeong
L. Höler
84' Freiburg make late changes looking to save the game, with their midweek hero Holer replaced by Woo-Yeong Jeong.
82' Sane slips an underlapping Gravenberch into the box, but his cut-back to Gnabry is intercepted by Ginter, who clears the danger for Freiburg.
80' WIDE!!! Kimmich's second corner delivery in as many minutes is headed clear, but Davies recovers the ball and lashes a shot goalwards from 20 yards, with the ball skewing wide of the post as it sails past Flekken!
79' A Bayern corner is swung in by Kimmich, but Pavard's header at the near post takes a deflection and flies into the side netting.
77' OVER!!! Another glorious chance wasted by Sane! The Bavarians break at speed, and in numbers, once again and Gnabry's well-weighted pass puts his international team-mate clean through on goal. Flekken's not making much of an impression, but Sane snatches at his shot and puts the ball over the top of an empty net! This game could well be sewn up by now had Bayern been a touch more clinical.
R. Gravenberch
T. Müller
77' Muller's the next off for Bayern, with another midfielder coming on in the form of Ryan Gravenberch.
76' Kubler's teasing ball from deep almost puts Holer through on goal, but Sommer races out of his box to knock the ball away from the area and into touch.
S. Mané
Yellow Card
74' Mane's not happy with something, and nor is the referee with him, as he shows the Senegalese forward a yellow card for dissent.
74' Kimmich scoops a ball over the top for Gnabry to chase, but the offside flag goes up as he, Sane and Mane all bear down on goal with Freiburg's defence lagging behind.
72' Freiburg have scored 999 goals in 774 Bundesliga games to date. Their next goal will see them become the 21st side to reach 1,000 goals, and they've scored in each of their last four league home games against Bayern. Ominous?
70' SAVED!!! Sommer keeps Bayern's lead intact with a superb stop! The Bavarians can't clear from Kubler's long throw, and Holer crosses into the centre. Pavard flicks it away, but Sallai meets the ball on the volley, with his goalbound effort clawed away from the bottom corner by Sommer!
L. Goretzka
J. Musiala
68' Bayern make their first change of the match, as Musiala comes off for Leon Goretzka in the centre of the park.
66' Freiburg win the ball high up the field and flood forward, with Hofler finding Sallai. He cuts inside onto his right foot and has an early effort blocked by Kimmich, with his team-mates' shouts for a handball penalty being waved away by the referee!
66' Gunter's cross from the left is knocked half-clear by Pavard, but Eggestein recovers the ball on the edge of the box and fires a shot beyond both Sommer and his crossbar.
65' The visitors have had 80.5 per cent possession so far in the second half, with De Ligt's thunderbolt reflecting the dominance they now hold over Freiburg in this game.
L. Kübler
K. Sildillia
62' Sildialli also comes off, and is replaced at right-back by Lukas Kubler.
R. Sallai
V. Grifo
62' Freiburg make their first second-half changes, and Grifo's 200th Bundesliga appearance comes to an end with the introduction of Roland Sallai in his place.
60' OVER!!! It really should be 2-0!! Bayern turn an attacking Freiburg free-kick on its head as Mane intercepts to release Sane on the counter. He stands up Eggestein before racing past him and engaging the goalkeeper, but his chipped finish over Flekken is too high and the ball lands on top of the net rather than in the back of it!
58' WIDE!!! Having seen his centre-back partner De Ligt rustle the net with a long-range effort, Pavard also tries his luck from distance. Looking for the same corner, his effort flashes beyond Flekken but swirls wide of the right-hand post!
57' SAVED!!! A superhuman stop from Flekken!! Muller's early cross from the right is met by Mane in the box, whose diving header glances towards the bottom corner. However, the Freiburg 'keeper sticks out a massive right hand, parrying the ball which bounces before being collected by Flekken with Mane closing in. That was some save!
55' NO PENALTY!!! The incident concerns Holer, who slid in and appeared to brush the ball on the ground with his hand, but after the referee heads over to the pitchside VAR monitor, he deems there wasn't enough contact to give a spot-kick.
53' BLOCKED!! Some quick, one-touch passing in the Freiburg box allows Gnabry space to beat his man and have a shot blocked by Leinhart, but he and the Bayern players surround the referee, demanding a penalty for a potential handball earlier in the move!
J. Musiala
Assist
51' Musiala gets the assist, having drawn several players towards him prior to making the past. That left De Ligt in plenty of space to try his luck, and the centre-back did the rest with one hell of a bolt from the blue.
M. de Ligt
Goal
51' GOOOOOOAAAALLL!!!! A thunderous opening strike!!! Bayern look to play through, then around Freiburg, but with nothing coming off, Musiala finds De Ligt in support. He looks up, and from 25 yards smashes a belter of a shot goalwards, and the ball takes a slight nick off Hofler to leave Flekken rooted to the spot as it flies into the top corner! A sumptuous hit from the Dutchman, and Bayern take the lead early in the second period!
49' Some scrappy play at the back from Bayern sees the ball break for Gregoritsch. He squares to Holer in the box, but Pavard scrambles back to knock the ball clear.
48' Freiburg and Bayern have now stopped their opposition from scoring a first-half goal in 19 and 18 of their 27 respective Bundesliga games this season, with no other side doing so as often as these two. Solid.
47' Sommer hoofs a rushed clearance away from danger, and the ball comes to Gnabry on the left wing. He dribbles into the box and tries to pick out the far corner, but Sildialli is on hand to block the effort away.
46' It's Bayern who'll get us back underway, as Sane and Muller kick off the second half!
The two sides are back out for the second period, and with both title and top four races approaching their respective home straights, the next 45 minutes could prove crucial in deciding how these two sides fare at season's end!
Jamal Musiala has certainly been in the thick of things for Bayern so far, having one shot on target from two attempts and four touches in Freiburg's box. The 20-year-old has also created two chances for his team-mates, engaging in eight duels and winning four. This includes two in three successful dribbles, as well as winning possession once in the final third for the visitors. Gem.
Goalless at the break, this game has been somewhat of a slow burn with most of the opportunities coming towards the back end of the half. Bayern started the stronger though, and have tested Flekken with efforts from Gnabry, Mane, Pavard and Sane. However, Freiburg have been particularly on the break, with Gregoritsch drawing a long-range save from Sommer and Doan striking the post right on half-time. It's delicately posed heading into the second half, and the opening goal could prove to be crucial, if and when it finally comes.
45' + 3' HALF-TIME: FREIBURG 0-0 BAYERN MUNICH.
45' + 2' Bayern wait to take a free-kick, but an injured Eggestein has to leave the pitch for further treatment before Kimmich can do so.
45' We'll play two additional minutes at the end of the first half, just as the chances are beginning to flow. Typical!
44' OFF THE POST!!! Fantastic hold-up play in the box allows Gregoritsch to knock the ball across the face of goal, where Doan slides in and slams the ball off the base of the upright! A glorious chance for Freiburg, and that's by far the closest either side has come to scoring!
43' Mane's attempted cross is blocked away by Ginter and the ball falls to Musiala. He strikes a half-volley towards goal, but it doesn't trouble Flekken who collects with relative ease.
41' SAVED!!! Leinhart's pass out from the back is intercepted by Sane, who plays a one-two with Kimmich as he drives into the danger area. He receives the return ball with just Flekken in his way, but the Freiburg goalkeeper closes the gap quickly to parry the shot away with his outstretched leg!
40' CHANCE!!! Bayern cut out a Freiburg free-kick and race away on the counter through Mane. The ball is spread wide to Davies, who spots Sane's run into the box and crosses, but Flekken races off his line to catch the ball cleanly and snuff the chance out!
38' Sane finds Davies on the overlap, and the Canadian crosses early into the box. Muller attacks the aerial ball but can't get a clean connection, glancing a header well wide of the target!
P. Lienhart
M. Gulde
36' Gulde's gone down injured and won't be able to continue, forcing the early introduction of Philipp Lienhart, who replaces the Freiburg centre-back.
34' WIDE!! Fluid play through the middle gets Freiburg on the front foot, and Gregoritsch slips a ball in behind for Gunter to connect with. Charging into the box untouched, the left-back fizzes a shot that flies high and wide of the target, wasting a golden chance for the hosts to take the lead!
33' SAVED!!! Mane delivers a Bayern corner into the box, where De Ligt gets first contact at the back post. His cushioned downwards header is stabbed goalwards by Pavard, but Flekken stands his ground and holds the ball to deny the central defender!
31' A smart flick from Mane allows Musiala some space on the edge of the area, but in steps Eggestein to dispossess the talented 20-year-old and come up with the ball for Freiburg.
30' Davies has numbers to aim at in the box but can only pick out Hofler, who gets back to knock the ball away with a fantastic defensive header.
28' Bayern’s 4-2 win over Dortmund saw them re-take top spot in the Bundesliga. The side top of the table after matchday 26 has gone on to win the title in each of the last 15 seasons – the last team to not end up as champions was Schalke in 2006-07, who finished second behind Stuttgart.
26' WIDE!!! Bayern build patiently again, before Musiala passes wide to Sane in space. He's got time to pick his spot, and sends a left-footed effort curling wildly beyond Flekken's far post!
24' CHANCE! Gunter makes a brilliant run behind the Bayern defence and is found by Grifo, but his cut-back to a waiting Holer is cut out and cleared by De Ligt!
22' Freiburg are unbeaten in their last 12 home league games, an ongoing club record. However, Bayern have the best away record this season with 24 points from 13 away matches.
20' The hosts break on the counter, and Doan looks to pick a cross-field pass from the right. Gregoritsch is the target, but the Austrian can't bring the ball under control before it goes behind for a goal kick.
18' WIDE!!! Bayern miss a glorious chance to take the lead!! Gnabry, Muller and Mane connect down the left to put the latter through on goal. He tries to slot the ball around Flekken and into the corner, but the shot flies mere inches wide of the far post!
16' SAVED!!! Musiala concedes a free-kick 35 yards from goal, and Gregoritsch steps up to hit an ambitious low drive goalwards, which Sommer holds to prevent the ball squirming into the far corner!
15' Freiburg have won just one of their last 39 Bundesliga games against Bayern, losing 30 over the course of this run, and the hosts are currently on a 13-game winless run against the champions - their longest ongoing wait for a victory against a particular side.
13' Bayern win a free-kick, which Kimmich whips into the box from the right. Plenty of white shirts go up for the ball, but Gulde heads it away before Doan hooks clear!
11' Davies shows great strength and awareness to wriggle his way out of a tight hole, bypassing the eager press of both Gregoritsch and Doan before releasing Musiala ahead of him.
9' WHAT A STOP!! Musiala latches onto Mane's pass and leaves his marker on the deck before crossing. Gnabry is in position and heads back across goal, but his effort is palmed away by a diving Flekken, showing some superb reflexes!
7' Bayern patiently attempt to create an opening on the edge of Freiburg's box, but a loose pass from Gnabry rolls all the way through before being thumped clear by Flekken.
5' BLOCKED!! Doan cuts inside and drives towards the box, before switching play to the left side. The ball comes to Grifo, who eventually gets a shot away, but Pavard blocks it away for Bayern!
4' We're at the start of what could be a crucial day in deciding the fate of the Bundesliga title this season. A win for fourth-placed Freiburg could draw level with Union Berlin in third, who themselves face Dortmund in the corresponding fixture, while victories for both Freiburg and Dortmund would result in Bayern being overtaken at the top of the table!
2' A long ball from deep is aimed towards Mane, who harries and presses Sildialli into the conceding of an early corner!
1' Mane kicks off for the visitors, as Bayern get this top-four Bundesliga clash underway!
Here come the teams onto the Mooswaldstadion pitch, and will lightning strike twice for the hosts against the reigning Bundesliga champions?

Having recently replaced the sacked Julian Nagelsmann, new head coach Thomas Tuchel oversaw a 4-2 victory over Borussia Dortmund in his first league game, taking Bayern back to the top of the table. They’ll be looking to respond to their cup defeat by Freiburg, and could extend their lead to five points at the summit.
It’s a rematch between two sides who faced each other just four days ago in midweek, when Freiburg, currently fourth in the Bundesliga, beat the Bavarians 2-1 in the quarter-finals of the DFB Pokal.
Hello, and welcome to live coverage of this fixture in the Bundesliga, as Freiburg face leaders Bayern Munich at the Europa Park Stadion.
