- Roma lost on penalties
- Mourinho hints at discussions over future
- Has been linked with PSG
WHAT HAPPENED? Mourinho lost a European final for the first time in his career against the Spanish club, as Roma were beaten 4-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in 120 minutes. In the aftermath of the defeat, Mourinho has hinted that he "deserves more" and will inform Roma if he begins discussions with another club amid links with PSG, even though he claims he would like to stay.
WHAT THEY SAID: Mourinho told Sky Italy after the loss (via CBS): “I want to stay at Roma, but my players deserve more and I also deserve more. I'm a little tired of being a coach, a man of communication, the face of the club that says we were robbed after every game. I'm tired of acting on every front. Next year we won't be playing the Champions League and that's a good thing because we're not ready for it.
"I will go on holiday on Monday. We will speak. I told the owners that I'll let them know first in case I will open talks with another club. I told the club when Portugal called me in December for national team job, but as of now, no other clubs called me."
THE BIGGER PICTURE: Mourinho appears to have emerged as PSG's top choice to replace Christophe Galtier, and previous reports had claimed he would end his Roma reign if they won the Europa League final. It remains to be seen what his plan is after the club's defeat, but he is said to be interested in taking the PSG job should he be offered it.

WHAT NEXT? Ligue 1 champions PSG complete their season this weekend, against Clermont Foot, and Galtier's future is likely to be settled soon after. It remains to be seen if Mourinho's future is clarified as well.
