This is the first time that United have failed to win a European game they've had a two-goal lead in since drawing 3-3 with Basel in September 2011. Tie that with Martinez's potentially season-ending injury, and they can only view this as a disappointing night at the office. Sevilla weren't great either here, but they kept on working and got their reward.

United will be glad to escape this first leg with a draw. Ten Hag's men were vibrant in the first half, racing to a 2-0 lead. They were complacent in the second half though, and Sevilla managed to punish them by forcing two goals in the last 10 minutes. There was a touch of fortune about both, but United can have no excuses.

90' + 7' Rakitic sends in the corner. Marcao heads comfortably wide, and that's that. United will be glad to hear the final whistle.

90' + 6' If there's going to be a winner now, it will be for Sevilla. Wan-Bissaka gives the visitors one last chance to snatch the win from a corner.

90' + 4' United have gone from dominating this game in the first half to clinging on now as Sevilla push for a winner. They've brought it upon themselves. Taking Fernandes and Antony off, the former with half an hour still to play, was questionable at best.

90' + 1' De Gea springs into action to stop En-Nesyri's header from finding the bottom left corner! The Sevilla striker did a great job of leaping to reach Acuna's cross. Sevilla get two corners in a row. United survive them, but they're wobbling.

87' Two Sevilla players sportingly carry a distraught Martinez from the pitch. His season may well be over. United aren't ready to make a substitution, so they'll have to play with 10 men for now.

86' Things don't look good for Martinez. United's Argentine centre-back has gone down holding his ankle while trying to carry the ball forward. It looks like his game is over.

83' United's corner doesn't amount to much as Casemiro heads high and wide. There's still time for another goal in this game somewhere.

82' Malacia spurns a chance to put United further in the clear! The Dutchman takes an age to pick his shot when he's found in space near the penalty spot. When he eventualy does, Fernando blocks to concede a corner.

81' Navas overstretches for the ball and briefly looks injured. Thankfully, the 37-year-old is OK to continue.

79' United have been slightly disappointing in this second half. Malacia has four team-mates in red shirts to aim for in the penalty area, but can't find any of them.

77' Elanga gets the better of Montiel and leaves the Sevilla defender on the ground. Play continues, and Weghorst can't react quickly enough to a deep cross into the box.

76' Rakitic gets the opportunity to shoot but can't find the target, blazing over from outside the box. Still, that's progress for Sevilla.

75' Acuna and Antony continue their running battle as the United winger blocks the Argentine's cross. It's a great subplot to this game.

69' Montiel takes a whack from Weghorst and spends far too long milking it on the turf. The United fans aren't impressed.

61' Montiel's cutback evades everyone in the box and gets picked up by Fernandes, but not for long. Montiel tries again. This time, Wan-Bissaka clears and United are through! Antony drifts into the box and sends a curler towards the top left corner. The ball hits the inside of the post and bounces back out to safety!

59' United huff and puff, and Antony has a shot blocked by Marcao. Martial eventually fouls the Sevilla defender to let the Spaniards escape their half for now.

58' Gudelj raises his boot for a cross and catches Casemiro on the forehead. The Serbian's booked.

56' United are still on top, but they don't have things entirely under control. Sevilla only need one good chance to open this game up again.

54' Sancho glides into the penalty area and gets fairly bumped off the ball by Montiel. No penalty.

53' Sancho attempts to free Malacia on the overlap but makes the pass too early. The England winger's not having the best game.

51' Sevilla enjoy a decent spell of possession. Navas eventually drills a low cross into the six-yard box. United clear it.

49' Ocampos has switched to the left for Sevilla. Navas has taken his place down the right.

47' United pick up where they left off, as Antony's left-footer from outside the box bounces just wide of the left-hand post.

46' Sevilla get the second half going. They need a better 45 minutes than they had in the first half.

Both teams had seven attempts at goal in that first half. The difference is that United had five on target as their opponents were all at sea defensively. Sevilla, in contrast, had just one: that Nianzou header just before half-time. If the Spaniards can trouble De Gea more, this game could change quickly.

The referee blows the whistle on the end of a great first half for United. Ten Hag's men have been ruthless at times, with Sabitzer grabbing both goals. Sevilla's chance at the end of the half shows they aren't out of this game yet though. More to come!

45' + 3' Fernandes sticks a foot out to poke the ball away from the rampaging Ocampos. Rakitic swings in the corner, Nianzou meets it, and De Gea pushes the Frenchman's header away from danger! It's a great save that keeps United's two-goal lead intact.

45' + 1' Montiel strays offside as he goes for Acuna's throughball. Sevilla haven't gotten going yet.

44' United will be pleased with how this half has gone overall. We'll have two minutes of additional time before half-time.

42' Gudelj steps up to take the free-kick, which is in a promising central position. The Serbian's effort whistles just shy of the top left corner.

41' Fernandes becomes United's first booking of the game for blocking Gudelj's long-range shot with his back. The referee thinks it's handball. It shouldn't be a card, and Fernandes protests to no avail. He's right to be unhappy, as he'll now miss the second leg of this tie.

40' There's a brief delay as VAR looks at the Lamela incident again for a potential red card offence. They don't find one. Sevilla breathe a sigh of relief.

38' Casemiro slides into a challenge with Lamela ansd the Argentine leaves a boot on the United man. It's accidental, but the referee books him.

37' Antony waits for Acuna's inevitable tackle and takes one for the team. A United free-kick is his reward.

36' Casemiro gets another sight of goal from the corner and tamely fires straight at Bono. Sabitzer gets caught offside shortly after.

34' Sevilla are getting cut wide open repeatedly. United bypass the visitors' midfield in two passes, and Casemiro's blast from range deflects out for a corner.

32' Chance for United! Fernandes pings a crossfield pass to Antony, who exchanges passes with Wan-Bissaka and swings in a left-footed cross. The ball lands to Fernandes, whose toepoke is kept out by Bono. There's a faint whiff of offside to the chance, but he wasn't to know that.

31' Fernando sloppily hands possession to Antony. United switch the play to Sancho, who cuts inside and cannons against a defender.

29' Things are a little scrappy in midfield at the moment, but United won't mind that. Fernandes is pulling the strings from deep from the hosts, and Sabitzer's having a great game as an attacking number 10.

27' Gudelj reaches Torres' cross and heads wide to the right of goal. Sevilla hasn't been able to settle down yet.

25' Nianzou hands United a corner which they take short. Fernandes drives the ball across Sevilla's box. Casemiro salvages it on the other side of the pitch.

23' Sabitzer's now scored more goals for United in 13 games than he did in 54 games for Bayern Munich. His spell in Manchester is working out well for him so far.

21' Martial did well not to rush things there. He waited until Sabitzer was through and found him at just the right time. Sevilla are getting picked apart!

21' GOAL! MANCHESTER UNITED 2-0 SEVILLA! It's Sabitzer at the double! Nianzou gives the ball away and Sevilla get punished. Martial has the presence of mind to find the Austrian's brilliantly timed run, and the midfielder slots home!

20' Martinez intercepts Ocampos' cross to hand Sevilla a corner. Rakitic's delivery doesn't trouble United.

18' Malacia gets caught out deep in United's half, but Sevilla can't make the most of the opportunity. This game is still very open.

16' Since joining United in February 2020, Fernandes is one of just two players in the big five European leagues to register at least 50 goals and 50 assists in all competitions alongside Lionel Messi. He's been remarkably consistent.

11' Sevilla work the corner short. Lamela's drive from the edge of the box gets blocked, as does Montiel's strike. United are eventually awarded a free-kick.

10' Sevilla win their first corner of the game down their left. Rakitic gets spoken to as the ball isn't inside the corner spot.

8' Ocampos gets stopped by Malacia down Sevilla's right. He gratefully accepts a free-kick, which doesn't lead to much.

6' Fernandes' corner is comfortably cleared. Sevilla go up the other end. Gudelj can't keep his balance in the box and skies his effort at goal.

4' Antony makes progress down the right. He finds Martial, whose cross is blocked. United get their first corner of the game.

2' Sancho puts the ball in the net in short order as he latches onto Antony's pass, but the goal's ruled out for offside. What a start!

1' United get this quarter-final tie underway at a noisy Old Trafford!

United are yet to beat Sevilla in European competition, having lost to them in the Europa League semi-finals in 2020. The Spaniards have progressed from six of their last eight European knockout ties against English clubs. This will be a tricky two legs for the Red Devils, make no mistake.

There are seven changes to Sevilla from their 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo, which they ended with nine men. Acuna, Gudelj, Fernando and Lamela are the only constants.

Ten Hag makes three changes to United's starting line-up from their 2-0 Premier League win over Everton. The former Real Madrid duo Varane and Casemiro start. Martial deputises up front in Rashford's absence.

Sevilla are the fourth Spanish side United have faced in the Europa League this season. While their current league form may mark them out as the worst of the four, the Andalusians have famous pedigree in this competition and have made it this far for a reason. United had better beware.

United already have one trophy in the bag this season and are hungry for more. The Red Devils still have hopes of lifting the Europa League for the first time since 2017, although they'll miss their injured star of the season Marcus Rashford in this quarter-final first leg.
