After losing 2-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns, fans have hit out at the Orlando Pirates players saying some could still be on holiday.
The Tshwane giants scored their first goal late in the first half through Mothobi Mvala before the second one came three minutes after the hour mark when Cassius Mailula found the back of the net.
With the loss, which denied Pirates a chance to temporarily move above Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs, fans have claimed the players were not ready for the Premier Soccer League resumption.
Apart from the players, head coach Jose Riveiro has received a fair share of criticism following the defeat at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Friday.
We lost because some players were on holiday: [Miguel] Timm, [Vincent] Pule, and [Deon] Hotto.
Next match, Hotto should start on the bench. We got the chances, but we didn't use them. That was the difference; otherwise, otherwise Sundowns were not a threat. - @MUDLE_SBUMBU
Jose must change his tactics or pack his bags. We [have] played Sundowns four times this season, but still, they're dominant.
What is Jose learning? How is he improving the team? I can't this anymore! - @BucsZola
We honestly need to give others a chance to play. [Sandile] Mthethwa almost scored, we need to drop [Kermit] Erasmus, Kabelo Damini, Pule, and [Siyabonga] Mpontshane to the stands. Try others. - @Raili_freeman
Mpontshane should be released immediately! Dlamini is not Pirates material, and Erasmus looks lost in most games, no service to him.
What did [Evidence] Makgopa do to not be given a chance? What I truly noticed is how [Olisa] Ndah makes this team tick with passes. - @Nethomboniphin2
Pirates are out of league competition. I don't think this coach is a good coach. Out of the last six games, he has only won one. With the type of players he has, he is supposed to be challenging Sundowns at the top.
His win at MTN8 was a fluke. [Irvin] Khoza must look for another coach internally. - @Michael15677787
Orlando Pirates fans blaming Mpontshane when they are so well outplayed and haven't really troubled Sundowns, is an example of entitlement.
If Mpontshane’s foul was awarded and a penalty given, that would have been his only mistake. Otherwise, Sundowns dishing out what we used to. - @TJMUNGONI
Well done and great performance by the team. We cemented our win against them after they had a fluke win against us in Polokwane and made hilarious noise the whole month.
Now they must understand that they're our daily bread. - @pmatsepane
What were these players doing during the World Cup break? What were they doing in the few days preceding today? Because they all looked disoriented or drunk. - @Joe_Man_Joe
Today we needed a coach and nothing else. How can you defend the whole 90 minutes? I mean, really.
You let players defend, but you're losing. The coach and the whole team let us down, nothing else. - @ZukileM6
Sell Mpontshane and Dlamini to the Motsepe League! Give Makgopa a chance, and lastly, never start Timm and Ben [Motshwari] at the same time, it limits our creativity! - @Nethomboniphin2
