Mamelodi Sundowns player ratings after Al Ahly win: Mweene unbeatable, Morena the super-sub

Dazzled after being recalled to the starting line-up with Denis Onyango out injured.
Mweene looked unbeatable on a busy night - making fabulous saves throughout the game in order to keep the hosts at bay.

Had a hard time keeping track of Ahmed Abdel Kader.

Mudau improved his output in the second half and his powerful overlapping runs created problems for the Red Eagles' defence. 

Kept Taher Mohamed quiet and he was a big threat to Al Ahly when pushing forward.

Lakay came close to scoring twice as he hit the woodwork with a fierce shot, before forcing goalkeeper Mohamed El Shenawy into a fantastic save. 

The Kenyan star was a rock for Sundowns on the night.

Mandela repelled everything that came his way - making clearances and interceptions, including one to keep out Percy Tau when he was clean through on goal.

Produced one of his best displays as a Downs player.

De Reuck was solid in defence  - containing last season's Caf Champions League Golden Boot winner Mohamed Sherif who was left isolated up top.

Outsmarted by Aliou Dieng in the first-half.

However, Coetzee improve after the restart and he joined the defence and ensured that they contained the hosts - making vital clearances. 

Dominant in midfield against the African champions.

Jali worked hard connecting Downs' defence with the midfield, but he had to be substituted a few minutes into the second half after sustaining an injury. 

Worked hard trying to make things happen for Downs.

However, Zwane did not have too much direct impact on the game and he was replaced by goalscorer Thapelo Morena.

Handed his first start for Downs in the Caf Champions League.

Mokoena gave an action-packed display in the middle of the park - making tackles and carrying the ball forward until he was substituted.

Tried too hard to impress on the night. 

Ralani had an ineffective game which saw him being substituted after the hour-mark.

Impressed despite extending his goal drought to five games.

Shalulile linked up well with his attacking cohorts and he provided the assist for the only goal of the match as he unselfishly set up Morena. 

Brought a lot of energy to Sundowns' midfield after replacing Jali in the 55th minute and he caught the eye with his pressing and passing ability. 

Came on in the 67th minute - replacing Ralani and did not offer too much in the left flank.

Introduced as Downs looked to strengthen their midfield in the 67th minute and he did the job as he won his duels. 

Made an immediate impact after coming in the 81st minute and he took his goal every well.
