Kaizer Chiefs fans have called on the club to add a ‘Benni McCarthy’ to their coaching staff to improve their blunt frontline.
Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has been complaining about poor finishing from his forwards and went as far as saying that his side should have scored more than four goals in their 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday.
The supporters are, however, getting tired of the excuses and now want action. They have urged Zwane to include a striking coach to his technical bench akin to former Bafana Bafana striker McCarthy’s role at Manchester United, where he has been credited with the renaissance of Marcus Rashford.
We have been hearing about the lack of finishing and decision making for a long time now and there seems to be no solution. Hire a striker coach. We had a very good German goalkeeper coach who groomed [Itumeleng] Khune and others why not go for the same calibre of striker coach who is going to work with our attacking players. - Buntu Nzima
Should have or could have. It doesn't really matter because at the end of the day, the result is what matters most. - James Youngjay Rodriguez Shaba
This speaks to our lack of striking quality. Chiefs isn't playing badly at all, we just need to work on decision making in the final third. [Keagan] Dolly was terrible. We need to reinforce our striking force and start scoring goals. - Ofentse Kgositsile Huma Morobane
Except the 3-0 win for Pirates, Chiefs is the only team to have made Sundowns play defensive the entire second half this season. Zwane is right but the problem is that his players miss those chances every game. -Lindo Mchunu
I am a Sundowns fan and I agree with Zwane they should have scored a goal or two, not sure about four or five. The coach, Zwane: His starting XI was not spot on and he took forever to substitute. The difference [Siyethemba] Sithebe made was clear. The last moments of the game belonged to Chiefs. - Vuyani Mpafa
I still believe in the project. There's no way we can stop the rot that has been going on for close to 10 years in one season. All these seven years we have been failing because we lacked patience and wanted a quick fix. We just need to identify the problems and buy suitable players. - Makotoko Letsie
This is when I start to seriously doubt Zwane's credentials and his suitability to guide Chiefs. He is starting to look like he is out of his depth, day by day. They should have scored four or five goals against a team of Sundowns calibre, Seriously? To say they needed to take chances coming their way is enough but to say you should have won 4 -1 is absurd in my view. - Mzwamadoda Ambrose Yaga
Somehow, he had a point. They had too many chances but were equally wasteful. One ends up thinking with the history of players pushing coaches out with bad displays, could this be the case at Chiefs now or they are just literally poor? - Muthelo Moss Waha-Netshituni
Sekhukhune same thing, Amazulu same thing now Sundowns same thing. What measures have you [Zwane] taken to address this problem. To me, it seems you are failing to send the right message to your players. -Master Baloyi
Sundowns were lucky to win that game. Even their coach [Rhulani Mokwena] accepted that it was 90 minutes he would rather not have again. As a Pirates fan, I am proud of Chiefs. - Prinzilah Massa Miggs Miggos
Coach Arthur Zwane, if Kaizer Chiefs is too big for you, step aside before things get worse. You got players, if they are not clinical that means you failed as a coach. - Jabulani Mumbo
He must vacate that position because he can't even get those lads to play in the final third. - Thabiso Sibiya
Gavin Hunt beat Sundowns and took Chiefs to Caf Champions League final while we were banned from signing players but he was sacked. Zwane took Chiefs from number two last season to number four [now six] and now he is losing, why must we be patient? He must go. - Dali Louis
Kaizer Chiefs will never be the same again. The glory days of Kaizer Chiefs are over. The name is big but the team is small. - PS Solliano Peterson
