Ajax are well-known for a number of different things.
Then there's their desire to always play free-flowing attacking football, which has earned them plenty of success both domestically and in Europe.
Maybe somewhat surprisingly, however, they are also not shy when it comes to spending money!
In the summer of 2022 alone they spent over €100 million to strengthen their squad.
But which players have cost them the most in recent seasons and who are their most-expensive signings ever?

Ajax signed Alvarez in the summer of 2019, paying €15 million for his signature from Club America.
The Mexico international signed a five-year contract and was initially often played at centre-back following the departure of Matthijs de Ligt, only to be moved into a holding midfield role eventually.
In 2021, Alvarez signed a contract extension at Ajax until 2025 and in April 2022, he was inducted in Ajax's Club van 100 after making his 100th appearance for the club in all competitions in a 3-0 win over PEC Zwolle, becoming the 174th player in the club's history to do so.
Promes came through the ranks at Twente and transferred to Spartak Moscow in 2014 for €11.50 million.
Four years down the line, he moved to Sevilla in a €21m deal, but he lasted just one season in Spain, before Ajax came calling, signing him for €15.70m.
After two seasons with Ajax, Promes joined Spartak Moscow in a €8.50m move in 2021.
Ajax signed Antony for €15.75 million from Sao Paolo in February 2020 in a deal that took effect from July 2020.
The winger made his debut against Sparta in September 2020, scoring the only goal in Ajax's away win.
In his more than two years at Ajax, Antony made 57 appearances, scoring 18 goals for them before Manchester United splashed the cash in the summer of 2022, paying a humongous €95m fee for the Brazilian.
After following his father's footsteps and beginning his career at youth level at Ajax, Blind went on to feature for six years at the club after making his senior debut in 2008.
102 appearances later, Manchester United came calling, agreeing to pay €17.50 million to Ajax for the defender.
Blind had a bit of a mixed time at Old Trafford, where he stayed for four years, making 90 appearances before returning back to Ajax for a fee of €16m.
Ajax signed Sulejmani from Heerenveen after many weeks of transfer speculation, paying €16.25 million for the Serbian winger in 2008.
He featured in over 100 games for Ajax over five years, scoring 29 goals.
In March 2012, he suffered a serious injury that saw him miss the rest of the season.
In 2013, it was reported that he was set to join Benfica as a free agent, leading to then manager Frank de Boer demoting him to the reserves.
Brobbey began his career at Ajax's academy in 2010 and after 10 long years, he made his debut for the senior team as a substitute, scoring against Fortuna Sittard in a 5-2 win.
Later, he made his debut in Champions League against Atalanta in 2020 and his performance was praised by then coach Erik ten Hag.
In February 2021, however, Ajax director of football Marc Overmars confirmed that Brobbey would leave the club at the end of that season for free after they failed to reach an agreement over a new contract.
He joined RB Leipzig for free in July 2021, but returned to Ajax in January 2022 on loan.
In the summer of 2022, Ajax announced that they had signed Brobbey back for €16.35 million.
Born in Sao Paulo, Neres played for his local club since joining them in 2007 at the age of 10.
After breaking in to their senior team, Ajax came calling, signing the winger for €17.40 million in 2017.
Arguably the biggest moment of his career came in the Champions League round of 16 in March 2019 against Real Madrid, where he scored the second goal in the second leg for Ajax, thus knocking Los Blancos out of the tournament.
Injuries and the arrival of Antony, Mohamed Daramy and Steven Berghuis at Ajax meant Neres' game time was limited between 2019 and 2021.
In January 2022, Shakhtar Donetsk lured him away from Amsterdam, signing him for €12m. He then moved to Benfica for €15.30m in the summer of 2022.
Haller was at the peak of his powers ahead of his much publicised move to Ajax from West Ham in the January transfer window of the 2020-21 season.
West Ham had signed Haller for €50m just in 2019, but parted ways with him at less than half of that amount as Ajax signed him for just €22.50m after an underwhelming time in London.
Reunited with Erik ten Hag at Ajax, Haller had an incredible 2021-22 season and he ended up scoring 47 goals in 66 appearances overall for the Dutch side.
In the summer of 2022, Haller left Ajax to join Borussia Dortmund for €31m.
After two seasons at Rangers in which he helped them reach the Europa League final in his second season, Bassey moved to Ajax in the summer of 2022.
The defender cost Ajax €23 million, but he had a bit of a nightmare start to life in the Netherlands, receiving a direct red card just 15 minutes into his debut for the club as a substitute in the 5-3 defeat at the hands of PSV in the battle for the Johan Cruyff Schaal.
After excelling at PSV for a number of seasons, Bergwijn made the move to Tottenham Hotspur in 2020 for €30 million.
He scored his first goal for the club on his Premier League debut against Manchester City in a 2-0 win for Spurs.
He was unable to really build on that promising start, though, and Ajax eventually came calling in the summer of 2022, signing him for €31.25m to make him the most expensive transfer in the history of the Eredivisie.
