Indian national football team: When will the Blue Tigers be in action next?

The Indian national team have so far played just thrice in the current calendar year.

They faced Bahrain (lost 2-1) and Belarus (lost 3-0) in international friendlies in March, besides a practice game against ATK Mohun Bagan (lost 2-1) in their ongoing camp.

The Blue Tigers began their camp in Bellary from April 24, before moving to Kolkata from May 9 and will travel to Qatar as they ready themselves for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup third round qualifiers that will be staged in Kolkata in June.

India are slated to play a few practice matches and international friendlies in May 2022.

India's next opponents will be an All-Stars team from the I-League on May 17, 2022. 

The Blue Tigers are aslo set to face the Bengal Santosh Trophy contingent in another practice game before travelling to Doha. In Qatar, they are slated to play an international friendly against Jordan after Zambia backed out due to unavailability of players.

Where will India play their games?

All the remaining 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers from Group D are to be played at a centralised venue - the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan or the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. India face Cambodia on June 8, with fixtures against Afghanistan and Hong Kong on June 11 and 14 respectively.

When did India last play a match?

India's last game was a practice match against ATK Mohun Bagan on May 11, 2022, which they lost 2-1 as Liston Colaco and Kiyan Nassiri were on target for the Kolkatan outfit and Sunil Chhetri for India.

Can India qualify for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup?

Having finished third in Group E in the second round 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, Igor Stimac's men will be looking to qualify for the final event for the second successive time as they have been grouped alongside Cambodia, Afghanistan and Hong Kong in Group D.

In their last appearance in the 2019 Asian Cup finals, India finished bottom of Group A with 3 points from 3 games under Stephen Constantine.
