Commentary

Thanks for joining the live text commentary for this match. Until next time, goodbye.
The result means that Eintracht and Tottenham progress to the Round of 16 while Marseille drop into the Europa League. Sporting, however, have no European football whatsoever to look forward to after Christmas. They're out.
All over at the Jose Alvalade and it's Eintracht who'll progress to the next phase of the Champions League at Sporting's expense. The hosts had taken the lead through Arthur only for second-half goals from Kamada and Muani to turn the tie on its head and secure a dramatic away victory for the visitors.

76' Jakic, on a yellow, clatters Trincao to concede a free-kick. But the referee decides against awarding him a second yellow and sending him off.
74' The tables have turned. Now it's Sporting who have to score.
A. Knauff
Assist
72' Knauff, just on the pitch, did superbly to play in Muani.
R. Kolo Muani
Goal
72' GOAL! Knauff lifts the ball into space for Muani, who controls the pace and finishes superbly past Adan to put Eintracht in a late lead.
72' Rode teases in a cross from the left side but Sporting manage to clear the danger.
A. Knauff

D. Sow
Yellow Card
58' Sow is booked for a professional foul, pulling back Arthur to prevent a break.
56' Pellegrini whips in a corner from the right side of the pitch but it evades everyone in the box and flies out of play.
54' Sporting are locked in, their back three morphing into a five whenever they don't have possession. They don't want to let this lead slip.
52' Porro does brilliantly to step up and play a defence-splitting pass through to Arthur, only for the Brazilian to miscontrol the ball and for the move to die out.
50' Edwards does superbly to retain possession for Sporting only for St. Juste to then lose it with an overly-risky ball forward.
48' Eintracht, commiting more bodies forward, cut through Sporting's defensive line only for the ball to run out of play before anything constructive can happen.
S. Rode
J. Lindstrøm
46' Rode has replaced Lindstrom at half time in a bid to shore up the midfield.
46' We're back underway at the Jose Alvalade.
Sporting are good value for their lead. They've seen the lion share of the ball and controlled the game for the most part. Eintracht have looked dangerous on occasion and they have had chances, but the way the tie is structured means that they're going to have to take risks in order to get back into the game in this second half.
Arthur's goal means that Sporting are in good shape come the half-time whistle. They only need a point to ensure that they progress to the next phase of the Champions League and now they have the cushion of a lead to help them ahead of the second half.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: SPORTING CP 1-0 EINTRACHT FRANKFURT
Paulinho
Yellow Card
45' + 2' Paulinho is booked for dissent after a referee's decision goes against him.
45' There will be two minutes of additional time at the end of this first half.
44' CHANCE! Pellegrini whips in a corner from the right side to find Tuta in the box, who directs his header on target. Adan saves comfortably, however.
42' Sporting are snapping into challenges, determined to win every second ball. They're determined to not led this lead slip.
40' The pressure is all on Eintracht to respond, now. As it stands Sporting are going through.
Arthur Gomes
Goal
39' GOAL! Edwards drives down the right before pulling the ball back for Ugarte, who whips the ball into the box. The cross takes a deflection off an Eintracht defender before falling to Arthur at the back post, who buries confidently to make it 1-0 to Sporting.
38' Sporting are still retaining possession of the ball intelligently.
36' Pellegrini whips in the resulting free-kick but Eintracht fail to direct an effort on goal and concede a foul instead.
Matheus Reis
Yellow Card
34' Reis, just on the pitch, is booked after flying into a reckless challenge on Ebimbe.
32' CHANCE! Nothing comes of the corner Kamada won but Sporting break like lightning after clearing the danger. The ball eventually falls to Ugarte but the Uruguayan is unable to sort his feet out in time and squanders the opportunity.
Matheus Reis
Nuno Santos
32' Reis has replaced Santos, who's not fit enough to proceed after suffering that injury.
30' Kamada does well to win a corner for Eintracht out on the right side. Santos, however, seems to have rolled his ankle in the process of conceding the corner and looks to be in considerable pain.
28' Sporting are taking some quite brave decisions when playing out from the back. They're beating the press as things stand, however.
26' Santos lifts the ball from the left wing into the box to try and find Paulinho, only for Eintracht to deal with the danger without a problem.
24' Sporting, as the game progresses, are beginning to grow in stature and confidence. They're moving the ball just that bit better, with more fluidity.
22' Edwards, looking bright, tries to thread a nice ball into space to find Paulinho, but he loses his battle with his opposing number and the attack is killed.
20' Eintracht's game plan seems to entail winning the ball high up the pitch and launching direct counter-attacks. Sporting are trying to control the game with becoming too conservative and fearful of conceding their narrow advantage.
18' Coates, under pressure from an opposing player, concedes a corner only for the set-piece to come to nothing.
16' Eintracht, playing with a real edge to their game, try another defence-splitting pass only for Sporting to cut it out.
D. Kamada
Yellow Card
14' Kamada is booked for a late challenge on Paulinho.
12' CHANCE! Sporting make a mess of an Eintracht corner and very nearly concede. The ball is directed toward goal by Paulinho and Adan does well to keep it out.
10' There's been a couple of spicy challenges already. Both sides are completely committed to the cause.
8' The ball is whipped into the box from the resulting free-kick before ultimately falling to Edwards in a dangerous position inside the box. His effort is tame, however, and easily dealt with by Trapp.
K. Jakić
Yellow Card
7' Jakic is booked for a late challenge on Arthur.
6' Eintracht try their luck with an arrowed ball into the final third only for Sporting to clean it up rather easily.
4' Sporting have enjoyed the lion's share of possession. They're going to be keen to control this game from the first whistle until the last.
2' The atmosphere in Lisbon this evening is electric.

Eintracht, as has been clarified, are in a very similar position to Sporting. They've also taken seven points from their first five games and are third in Champions League Group D. Unlike Sporting, however, who could still qualify for the next phase of the competition if they earn a point, Eintracht have to win in order to progress. Their head-to-head record with Tottenham and Sporting isn't good enough to sneak through if they simply avoid defeat - they need all three points.
Sporting come into this one placed second in Champions League Group D. They've taken seven points from their first five games and are just one behind group leaders Tottenham Hotspur. Eintracht, in third, are level on points with them. Marseille, rooted to the bottom of the table, are just one point behind them. All four teams begin the final matchday of the group phase with a chance of progressing to the next phase of the competition. But if Sporting can win, their place is secured no matter what else happens in the group.
