RB Leipzig are next in action in the Bundesliga on Saturday against Mainz on the road. Celtic travel to face St Johnstone in their next outing in the Scottish Premiership on the same day.
RB Leipzig get off the mark in the Champions League this season by defeating Celtic 3-1 at the Red Bull Arena. Christopher Nkunku put the home side ahead in the first half with a cool finish after rounding Joe Hart, having previously seen a goal disallowed for offside. Jota responded for the Bhoys in the second half to finish a swift counter. Dominik Szoboszlai then had a goal controversially disallowed for an offside call against Andre Silva by VAR. However, Hart made a costly mistake for the visitors, allowing Szoboszlai and Silva to combine to restore Leipzig's lead. The German outfit made sure of the three points when Silva finished a fine team move to notch his second.

FULL-TIME: RB LEIPZIG 3-1 CELTIC
90' + 4'
Forsberg rolls a left-footed strike narrowly wide of the right post, although the whistle goes for a handball against the forward, so it would not have counted anyway.
90' + 2'
Leipzig still probe in the final third, but Nkunku is closed down by Jenz before he can pull the trigger on his left-footed strike.
There will be five minutes of added time.
HART DENIES FORSBERG! The Celtic keeper has to spread himself on the line to block Forsberg's strike away from goal after he latched onto a dangerous cutback from Haidara on the left flank. Silva pounces on the rebound, but he sees his effort defected wide by Taylor.
Haksabanovic and Simakan collide again and this time the Celtic man gives away a free-kick for barging the defender off the ball.
Haksabanovic tries to get the better of Simakan down the right flank, but the defender holds firm to earn his side a goal-kick.
McCarthy picks out Taylor with a reverse pass in the inside-left channel, but his delivery into the middle is deflected narrowly over the bar.
McCarthy comes on for Hatate in the Celtic midfield.
Giakoumakis replace Kyogo for the final eight minutes for the Bhoys in the final third.
Szoboszlai has been outstanding today and is now withdrawn for Poulsen.
Raum has to make way for the home side at the back and is replaced by Halstenberg.
Raum is down for the home side with an apparent ankle injury. He receives treatment on the pitch.
Simakan makes a great run into the inside-right channel and then guides a perfect ball to the back post for Silva to score.
GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! SILVA FINISHES A FINE TEAM MOVE!!!!! 3-1 LEIPZIG!!!! The German outfit take a huge stride towards the three points as Silva converts at the back post. Nkunku produces a brilliant cross-field pass to find the run of Simakan on the right flank. He takes the ball out of the air first-time to steer a delivery towards Silva. The Portuguese takes a touch before firing a right-footed effort past Hart from close range.
SAVE! Jota collects on the left flank and cuts inside to shoot on his right foot, but Blaswich watches it all the way into his hands.
Maeda is withdrawn by the visitors and is replaced by Forrest.
Haksabanovic enters the fold for the visitors in the final third. O'Riley makes way from the Celtic midfield.
Szoboszlai runs at the Celtic defence and reaches the edge of the area before losing out to Abildgaard in a strong challenge. He remains down after the tackle, but might just be winded.
Rose makes the decision to withdrawn Kampl on a yellow card for Haidara.
Werner is withdrawn from the final third and is replaced by Forsberg.
SAVE! Silva latches on to a pass from Szoboszlai in the inside-left channel, but this time he cannot beat Hart with his low strike on his right foot from the angle.
Postecoglou will be furious with his side. They earned a reprieve after Szoboszlai's effort was ruled out, but they gave it straight back to the home side. The Bhoys have work to do to get back into the game again.
Szoboszlai cannot believe his luck as Hart picks him out. He releases Silva straight away and the forward makes no mistake.
GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! SILVA SCORES!!!!!! 2-1 LEIPZIG!!!! Leipzig have their goal anyway as they capitalise on a terrible mistake by Hart and Silva finds the back of the net. Hart plays a pass out from the back straight to Szoboszlai, who feeds Silva unmarked on the edge of the penalty area. The forward takes one touch before slotting his effort into the bottom-left corner.
DISALLOWED GOAL! There is huge controversy as Szoboszlai sees his strike disallowed because Silva is in an offside position in front of goal. Hart was not unsighted by the strike and there were no appeals by the Celtic players. However, the VAR official and the referee combine to disallow a fine finish from Szoboszlai, much to the frustration of the home side.
O'Riley tries to fend off Gvardiol and catches the defender in the face with a stray arm. He goes into the book.
OFF THE POST! Szoboszlai latches on to a flick from Nkunku and fires at goal from close range. He beats Hart with his strike, only to see his effort clip the inside of the left post and bounce clear.
PENALTY SHOUT! Leipzig appeal for a penalty as the ball strikes Taylor on the hand, but Werner was mere inches from the defender when he played the ball against him.
Werner raids down the left flank and digs out a cross to the back post. Silva attacks it with Taylor, but he cannot make clean contact with his header.
Celtic are managing to keep the play in front of them in the second half. Nkunku and Werner have not managed to get in behind since the restart.
Kampl pulls back O'Riley after losing possession and goes into the book.
Leipzig have not managed to get going in the second half. The visitors are winning all of the 50/50 battles on the pitch.
Celtic have the equaliser now and the pressure has increased on Rose and his team. They can ill afford to drop points tonight in their bid to reach the knockout stage.
Kyogo makes a great run and offloads the perfect pass for Jota to collect and score with one touch.
GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! JOTA RESPONDS FOR CELTIC!!!!!! 1-1!!!!!!! The Bhoys are level at the start of the second half as Jota slots an effort past Blaswich. Silva takes a casual touch in the midfield and it allows O'Riley to release Kyogo in the final third. He draws two defenders towards him before rolling a pass to Jota. The forward takes on the strike first-time, steering his effort into the bottom-right corner on his left foot.
We're back under way at the Red Bull Arena.
Marco Rose will feel that his team could have killed off the game before half-time. They have cut open Celtic on the break with ease and Nkunku put them into a deserved lead. However, the second goal has eluded them with the final pass being the issue. If they can get that early goal in the second half they could be on course for a vital win.
Christopher Nkunku's strike has put RB Leipzig 1-0 up at the break against Celtic in their Champions League clash at the Red Bull Arena. The Frenchman had a goal disallowed for offside before putting his team ahead with a neat touch and finish from the angle. Celtic did have opportunities before Nkunku broke the deadlock, but lacked a clinical edge. If both teams continue to play in the same manner as the first half there will be further goals in the contest.

Raum and Silva play the give-and-go down the left flank, but the former sees his cross blocked by Juranovic before Welsh heads it clear of danger.

Even as we approach the break, the contest remains very open. Both teams are continuing to play attacking football.
45' + 3'
BLOCK! Leipzig break with pace through Silva and he feeds Szoboszlai in space, but he takes a loose first touch and it allows Taylor to get back to divert his strike behind for a corner.
45' + 2'
Silva is played into space down the left flank, but he loses momentum by cutting back on to his right foot and his eventual strike at goal is tame and straight at Hart.
There will be seven minutes of added time.
OFFSIDE! Hart produces a fine stop to deny Werner with his boot, but the forward was offside anyway after latching onto a sublime backheel from Nkunku.
OVER! Jota makes a good run down the left flank past Simakan and he floats a cross into the Leipzig box. Kyogo attacks the delivery, only to glance his header over the bar.
Schlager reacts at the back for Leipzig to clear a loose ball away from Hatate before he pull the trigger on a shot at goal.
Leipzig provide pressure on the ball down the right flank and Schlager wins possession. He offloads to Silva to line up a blast on his left foot, but his effort from 20 yards is charged down.
McGregor is unable to shake off his earlier problem and is replaced in the Celtic midfield by Abildgaard.
Juranovic is down after being caught by Raum with a boot to the face. He requires treatment before the game can continue.
Postecoglou will be annoyed that his side are trailing in the contest. They had a spate of chances in a short period, but were not able to convert before Nkunku punished them.
McGregor is down for Celtic after colliding with Silva in the build-up to the Leipzig goal. The Bhoys will not want to lose their skipper so soon after conceding.
WIDE! Raum plays Werner into space down the inside-left channel and the forward shapes to shoot. He powers a left-footed strike at goal, only to hit the side-netting.
GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! NKUNKU GETS ON THE SCORESHEET THIS TIME!!!!!! 1-0 LEIPZIG!!!! Nkunku does remain onside on this occasion as he collects a throughball from Silva before rounding Hart and dispatching a low strike into the net. Silva runs at the Celtic defence before he releases Nkunku with a pass on the slide. The forward holds his composure first to dribble past Hart then to find the net from a difficult angle. A super finish.
WIDE! Kyogo seizes on a mistake at the back by Raum and shoots on the turn towards the bottom-left corner. However, his effort trickles just wide of the left post courtesy of a deflection off Gvardiol's legs.
CHANCE! Taylor latches on to a loose ball in the Leipzig box and fires at goal low and hard. Blaswich gets down to make the stop, but the visitors gather the rebound. It pinballs around the area before Jenz swings a leg at an effort and send his strike over.
SAVE! Blaswich is called into action for the first time to beat a dangerous header from Kyogo behind. Maeda raids down the right flank and delivers a cross towards the near post. Kyogo gets there ahead of Gvardiol, but his header is well saved.
WIDE! Raum takes a touch on the left flank and supplies a good cross into the box that Szoboszlai attacks. He makes glancing contact with his header that travels just wide of the right post.
Szoboszlai looks to angle a cross to the back post, but Hart watches it behind as no white shirt attacks the delivery.
Leipzig are finding space in the final third, but just need to work on the timing of the last pass. There's no need to panic from their point of view.
DISALLOWED GOAL! Nkunku believes that he has put Leipzig ahead with a neat chip in a one-on-one with Hart. However, the goal is disallowed for offside against the forward from Simakan's throughball. He just moved a fraction too soon.
Kampl spreads the ball to the right flank where Simakan sends a first-time cross to the near post. Hart has to be alert to smother ahead of Silva in the middle.
Blaswich enters the action to replace Gulasci between the posts for Leipzig.
The stretcher comes out for Gulacsi as he twists his knee after attempting to race back to his line. A blow for Leipzig to lose their captain.
CHANCE! Gvardiol puts Gulacsi under pressure with a loose backpass and it forces the keeper to hurry his clearance. He hits the ball straight to Hatate, who scuffs his effort at an open goal missing a glorious opening. However, Gulacsi remains down for the home side after the fact with an apparent knee injury.
BLOCK! Szoboszlai lines up the resulting free-kick from 25 yards, but he can only smash his effort straight into the wall, allowing the visitors to clear.
Silva is caught late by Welsh as he tries to thread a pass through to Nkunku. Hart races out to smother the ball ahead of Nkunku, but Leipzig are awarded a free-kick in a useful position.
Jota tries to find space on the edge of the Leipzig box. He manages to carve out room for a right-footed strike that is charged down by Gvardiol and allows Gulacsi to gather the loose ball.
Celtic probe in the final third through O'Riley, but he cannot force his strike through Orban, who makes an important block.
WIDE! Leipzig push forward again down the right flank and Simakan works a low ball into the middle for Nkunku to attack. He fires first-time at goal, only to place his effort wide of the right post.
CHANCE! Werner is played into space and he releases Nkunku behind the Celtic defence. The Frenchman cannot bring the ball under control, but Szoboszlai charges forward in support. The loose ball deflects off the midfielder and into the hands of Hart.
We're under way at the Red Bull Arena.

Celtic lost their first match of the Champions League group stage, but battled against Shakhtar to earn a point on the road. Ange Postecoglou's men will too have ambitions of reaching the knockout phase in an open group behind Madrid at the top. They bounced back to form in the Scottish Premiership after suffering a surprise defeat before the international break, defeating Motherwell 2-1 at the weekend. The Bhoys need a stoic effort tonight.
Leipzig have made a poor start to their Champions League campaign, losing their opening two matches. The German outfit were hammered by Shakhtar Donetsk in their opener before losing 2-0 at the hands of Real Madrid last time out. They need a response tonight to keep their hopes of reaching the knockout stage of the competition alive. Marco Rose's men produced an emphatic 4-0 win over Bochum in the Bundesliga at the weekend, and need to produce those same levels of performance tonight.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the Champions League clash between RB Leipzig and Celtic at the Red Bull Arena.
