Commentary

That's all from Munich today, so thank you for joining us and goodbye!
Schalke's task does not get much easier in their closing fixtures, as they must tackle RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt before the season's end. Depending on Dortmund's fortunes, Bayern could even confirm the title by beating Leipzig next time out.
Taking one step closer to retaining their Bundesliga crown once again, Bayern Munich simply crushed a meek Schalke side today; scoring four times after the break to complete a cruise towards victory. Gnabry bagged a brace and Mazraoui added the cherry on top during second-half stoppage time. That takes them four points clear of Dortmund, who kick off later today, while their visitors remain mired in relegation trouble with just two games left to save their skin.
90' + 4' FULL-TIME: BAYERN MUNICH 6-0 SCHALKE
S. Mané
Assist
90' + 2' Showing both ingenuity and class, Mane re-directs a straight ball from defence with a deft flick-on towards goalscorer Mazraoui.
N. Mazraoui
Goal
90' + 2' 6-0!! Pavard's straight ball up from the back is cleverly flicked on by Mane 25 yards out, and Mazraoui reacts first to latch onto it and place his shot inside the right-hand post! That was all about Mane's moment of magic really, but it still required a cool head from the full-back.
89' Tel heads away an outswinging corner from the right by Ouwejan, then on the counter, Muller sends a tame finish straight at Schwolow from inside the area.
87' After Sane's header is saved a point-blank range by Schwolow, a Goretzka header over the keeper from the rebound drops into the net. However, the assistant's flag immediately rules out what would have been Bayern's sixth goal - offside.
T. Ouwejan
J. Uronen
85' Schalke now make their final change, with Ouwejan replacing Uronen.
D. Upamecano
M. de Ligt
85' Upamecano is also given a cameo on his return from injury, as De Ligt comes off.
S. Mané
J. Musiala
85' Having just set up Bayern's fifth goal, Musiala departs; Mane will replace him.
83' SUPER SAVE! Schwolow stops Musiala adding to Schalke's misery, as he dives low to his left to palm away the midfielder's low drive towards the bottom corner. It was a save made at full stretch.
J. Musiala
Assist
80' Creating Tel's goal, Musiala takes the initiative and runs in from the right before playing a perfectly-weighted pass for his team-mate.
M. Tel
Goal
80' BAYERN HAVE FIVE! Drifting in from the left flank to open up space in the Schalke back line, Musiala drives forward and slips through Tel, who finishes the job by sliding a low finish past Schwolow from close range! That's a cruel blow for the away side, who had begun to improve following Bayern's fourth goal. The home fans don't mind, though!
78' Bayern are conserving energy now and will be happy to see out the game with this scoreline, you'd expect. There are still two crucial games to come between now and the end of the season.
76' Latza, Skarke and then Van den Berg all commit fouls as Schalke try to remain competitive in a game that has got away from them ever since they conceded the first goal.
74' Following a series of substitutions for both sides, Schalke have grown into the game and are finally sustaining some positive passing moves. There's still time to end their long scoring drought against Bayern by netting a consolation.
72' After receiving a pass from Gravenberch in midfield, Musiala slips the ball through Kral's legs skilfully, then thumps a shot over the top from just outside the box.
L. Goretzka
J. Kimmich
71' As the points are secure, Tuchel opts for two more changes. First, Kimmich makes way for ex-Schalke man Goretzka.
M. Tel
S. Gnabry
71' Gnabry will be unable to pursue his hat-trick, as Tel comes on in his place for the final 20 minutes.
70' Turning on the edge of the box, Kral fires a shot over the crossbar by some distance. Schalke simply don't look like scoring today.
67' With his second goal today, Gnabry has scored 13 times in the Bundesliga this season, making him Bayern Munich's leading scorer in the league.
S. Gnabry
Goal
65' GNABRY BAGS A BRACE! Putting Bayern 4-0 up, Gnabry adds his second goal of the half by stealing the ball inside his own half and streaking clear through the centre to strike! He beats the stranded Schwolow with a cool finish into the bottom-right corner - game over!
R. Gravenberch
K. Coman
64' Bayern also make a change: Coman is replaced by Gravenberch.
D. Drexler
T. Krauß
64' Drexler comes on for Krauss.
S. Polter
M. Frey
64' Reis resorts to a triple substitution. First, Polter replaces Frey up front.
T. Skarke
M. Bülter
63' Finally, Bulter makes way for Skarke.
63' CLOSE! A glaring miss by Muller keeps the score at 3-0! Arriving at the back post, Bayern's skipper just prods the ball wide from two yards out, following a wicked cross from the left by Coman!
61' Under pressure, Cancelo has to concede a corner on the left. Then Van den Berg rises highest in the box but can only steer his header wide of the left-hand post.
59' Naturally, the intensity in Bayern's play has dropped since their third goal. Schalke are merely seeking containment now, with the points' destiny a foregone conclusion.
57' Karaman is fortunate to be awarded a free-kick when under pressure from Cancelo deep inside the Schalke half. The Manchester City loanee has already show what he can do to his marker, who is struggling to cope.
55' Schalke are still seeking their first league strike against Bayern in six matches - Ahmed Kutucu was the last Schalke player to score against them in the Bundesliga, back in February 2019. The champions have now scored a league-high 86 goals this season, while their visitors from Gelsenkirchen have the division's weakest attack (31).
53' SOMMER SAVES! Finally, the Bayern goalkeeper is called upon, as he denies Bulter with a stop at his near post; keeping out the forward's strike from near the left byline.
João Cancelo
Assist
50' A brilliant dribble by Cancelo opens Schalke up on the left, then he plays the ball into Gnabry inside the penalty area.
S. Gnabry
Goal
50' 3-0 TO THE CHAMPIONS! Bayern steal the ball in midfield, then Cancelo drops Karaman to the turf with some dazzling footwork on the left before crossing low for Gnabry. He takes a couple of touches to line up a shot from inside the area, which zips unerringly past Schwolow, just inside the near post!
48' After Gnabry's surge to the left side of the box forces a Bayern corner, the ball ultimately breaks to Coman more than 20 yards out from goal. The French winger winds up a shot, but sends it spiralling over the bar with an uncontrolled lash.
M. Yoshida
C. Brunner
46' Having been booked when conceding the penalty, Brunner has been withdrawn at the break; Yoshida replaces him.
46' Schalke kick off, and we are back under way in Bavaria!
Schalke have a record of 11 losses from 13 games when trailing at half-time in the Bundesliga this season, so there is little precedent to suggest they can strike back and stun Bayern during the second half.
In cruise control following their opening goal midway through the first half, Bayern Munich are on course for a 21st league win of the season, and but for some smart saves from Schwolow they could have been further in front at the break. Schalke's need for points is almost equally acute, but they have shown no signs of breaching the Bayern back line; failing to register a shot on target. It would take a dramatic turn of events to see the home side stumble before the finish line, and victory is surely theirs for the taking.
45' + 4' HALF-TIME: BAYERN MUNICH 2-0 SCHALKE
45' + 2' In the second of at least four stoppage-time minutes indicated by the fourth official, Schalke's entire team is camped inside their defensive third. They simply want to avoid leaking more goals and making their task an even more formidable one.
45' Bayern have stepped off the accelerator over the past few minutes, and are patiently probing for more openings. Their lead is already a comfortable one, with Schalke offering next to nothing in attack so far.
43' SAVE! When Coman chips up a cross from the left side of the area, Gnabry reacts well to reach it first. However, his close-range header is aimed straight at Schwolow, who is able to make another solid save!
41' With just 30 per cent of possession so far, Schalke have yet to force a single shot on target today. Bayern have been rock-solid at the back and are fully focused on taking another step towards the title.
39' A rare attack from the visitors sees Kral nod the ball down for Frey on the edge of Bayern's box, but the striker's shot crashes straight into De Ligt and the home side ultimately clear the danger.
37' Sane's shot from the free-kick deflects heavily off Schalke's defensive wall and dribbles wide for a corner. Nothing comes from that set-piece situation either.
M. Bülter
Yellow Card
36' Bulter is booked for a shove on Mazraoui 30 yards out from goal, which also gifts Bayern a free-kick from a threatening position.
35' On three occasions, promising moves by Bayern break down on the brink of the box, as Schalke hold on for dear life. The visitors will surely be happy just to keep their deficit down until the break.
33' After breaking into the box from the right flank, Gnabry narrowly fails to guide his low cross through several legs to pick out Coman, who is standing unmarked at the back post.
31' Stunned by conceding twice in less than 10 minutes, Schalke are trying to establish a foothold in this game, but they have not retained possession well enough to relieve pressure on an overloaded back four.
Penalty Goal
29' BAYERN EXTEND THEIR ADVANTAGE! It's now 2-0 to the Bavarians, as Kimmich steps up to the penalty and slots it into the bottom-right corner! He slipped in the process, but Schwolow was still well beaten!
C. Brunner
Yellow Card
28' For charging into Musiala in the box, Brunner concedes a penalty and receives a yellow card.
28' PENALTY CONFIRMED! The referee agrees with his VAR colleagues: it's a penalty for the champions! Musiala was fouled by Brunner.
27' PENALTY FOR BAYERN? After a long delay while Musiala is checked by the medics, the referee is called over to the pitchside monitor for a review of the incident in which the Bayern midfielder was injured. Was he deliberately blocked off? If so, it'll be a spot-kick for Bayern!
25' Having fallen to the turf in the Schalke area, following a surging run that was cut off by three converging defenders, Musiala requires medical treatment. It appears he was caught on the jaw by a stray elbow.
23' Ominously for Schalke, Bayern Munich - who have now scored in their last 56 Bundesliga home games - have a record of nine wins, three draws and no losses when scoring the opener at home this season.
L. Sané
Assist
21' After a deflection sends the ball his way in the box, Sane calmly picks out Muller with a short pass back to the edge of the area.
T. Müller
Goal
21' BAYERN LEAD! It had been coming! When the ball breaks to Sane off Kral's outstretched boot in the penalty area, the Bayern winger coolly lays off a pass to Muller. The hosts' captain then steers his shot into the bottom-left corner to put them 1-0 up at the first half's midpoint!
T. Krauß
Yellow Card
20' For clearly tugging Musiala back by the shirt, Krauss becomes the first man booked today.
18' Leaning back, Musiala scoops a shot well over the crossbar from near the penalty spot. Van den Berg's dive probably put him off, but it was a wayward finish for a player of his quality.
16' Schalke take the rare opportunity to edge a few yards further upfield and enjoy some possession in midfield. They've been pinned back for the past 10 minutes and are grateful to their goalkeeper for keeping them all-square.
14' SMART STOP! After Musiala's shot takes several deflections and bobble invitingly into his path, Muller's strike from a tight angle is denied by a Schwolow dive down to his left! The goalkeeper covers his near post well and diverts the ball behind for a corner.
12' Bayern push on for the game's first goal, as Gnabry just fails to make contact with Mazraoui's cross from the right side of the box. Only five yards out, the Germany forward really should have done better!
10' OFF THE LINE! Muller dances through the area, with several Schalke players frightened to make contact, but failing to gain his balance he can't force a shot on goal and instead the ball rolls to Coman 10 yards out. He lashes it towards the target, but Van den Berg is well-placed to make a crucial goal-line block! So close to an opener!
9' Bayern have won all of these teams' last nine league meetings, with a cumulative goal difference of 32-2. All of the last five went without a single goal being conceded by the Bavarian giants, who scored 22 times themselves.
7' SAVE! Diving low to his right, Schwolow keeps out a driven strike by Gnabry which seems bound for the bottom corner! He hit it hard and low, but the Schalke keeper was equal to it!
6' An injury to Krauss after a collision between the Schalke midfielder and Kimmich sees the action paused momentarily, but it soon resumes when he makes his way to the touchline for further treatment.
5' Having drifted into a central position from the right, Mazraoui misplaces a pass to Muller on the edge of the area and Bayern's attacking move breaks down.
3' After some early Schalke pressure sees Bayern forced to defend, Gnabry nearly springs clear on the break from inside his own half, but a couple of loose touches allows the visitors' defence to recover.
1' The hosts kick off, and we are under way at the Allianz Arena!
The players are out on the pitch in Munich, and kick-off is now just moments way!
Thomas Reis makes three changes to a winning team today, as Henning Matriciani misses out through injury and both Zalazar and Terodde are dropped to the bench. Uronen, Latza and Frey are brought in to replace them, with the latter leading Schalke's front line.
Tuchel makes two changes today, as Sane and Muller come in for Mane and Gravenberch. Goretzka missed last week's win over Werder Bremen due to suspension, but returns to the Bayern bench against his former club. Another ex-Schalke man, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, returned to training this week but is not fit enough to feature today; Upamecano, though, makes it back into the hosts' squad.
SUBS: Michael Langer, Tim Skarke, Thomas Ouwejan, Simon Terodde, Leo Greiml, Rodrigo Zalazar, Sebastian Polter, Maya Yoshida, Dominick Drexler.
SCHALKE (4-2-3-1): Alexander Schwolow; Cedric Brunner, Sepp van den Berg, Marcin Kaminski, Jere Uronen; Alex Kral, Danny Latza; Kenan Karaman, Tom Krauss, Marius Bulter; Michael Frey.
SUBS: Sven Ulreich, Dayot Upamecano, Ryan Gravenberch, Mathys Tel, Aleksandar Pavlovic, Daley Blind, Bouna Sarr, Sadio Mane, Leon Goretzka.
BAYERN MUNICH (4-1-4-1): Yann Sommer; Noussair Mazraoui, Benjamin Pavard, Matthijs de Ligt, Joao Cancelo; Joshua Kimmich; Leroy Sane, Jamal Musiala, Thomas Muller, Kingsley Coman; Serge Gnabry.
Schalke are still fighting for Bundesliga survival at the other end of the table, though they are today bidding for a third straight win. Having spent the majority of the season mired in the relegation zone, recent victories over Werder Bremen and Mainz have helped Die Koenigsblauen post three wins in four matches - after picking up just four from their first 27. While their fans will not want them to aid Dortmund's title hopes in any way, success in Munich would aid their aim of avoiding relegation for the second time in two years.
With three games left to play, title-chasing Bayern Munich sit one point clear of Borussia Dortmund at the Bundesliga summit, as their quest for an 11th straight league crown nears its climax. While Thomas Tuchel has endured a mixed start to his reign in Bavaria, after losing to his former club Mainz last month Bayern bounced back with wins over Hertha Berlin and Werder Bremen. For all their recent troubles, Die Roten have won five of their last six home matches in the league - scoring 18 goals in the process - and they are unbeaten in 24 meetings with today's visitors.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of today's Bundesliga clash between Bayern Munich and Schalke at the Allianz Arena!
