Orlando Pirates have been warned Mamelodi Sundowns are not in the same level as Lamontville Golden Arrows after defeating the latter 2-0 in a Premier Soccer League fixture on Tuesday.
A double from Monnapule Saleng in the sixth and 24th minutes propelled the Buccaneers to their fifth league victory of the season at Princess Magogo Stadium.
The win was a boost for Pirates as they prepare to face their rivals Masandawana in the MTN8 semi-final return leg clash at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday.
The two giants had battled to a 2-2 draw in the first leg meeting. Despite the win against Abafana Bes'thende, Pirates have been cautioned they will feel the heat against the Brazilians.
Meanwhile, another set of fans are confident Pirates will get the better of their rivals and qualify for the final of the domestic competition.
Mamelodi Sundowns is not like Golden Arrows and Orlando Pirates will taste the heat come Saturday. - Rajah Gilbert
This is the kind of football we should play and convert created opportunities. Well done Bucaneers☠️⚽️⚽️🥅 come Saturday we are ready for Mamelodi Sundowns. - Ncedo Martin Mshushwana
The only thing that is keeping Mamelodi Sundown in the MTN is PSL mid-week games. - Sol Malete
Sundowns should just give Pirates walk over to save themselves from being embarrassed. - Tshiamo T-mass Segoe
The PSG of South Africa: Pirates Saint Gauteng, on Saturday we are playing against Sundowns, we gonna knock them out. 💪😎🤞 - Ernest Van De Light
Credit to the coach for using one defensive six [Tim] and the effect of Dlamini as he was playing more of those forward passes... thanks to Kermit for being a team player, he made things easy for Seleng.
Dankie Mpontshane for those late 2saves; you really saved the Bucs from being the laughing stock in that referees additional time. - Masixole Hlahla Voko
For the first time the coach made all the correct substitutions oo “like for like” now it’s a matter of converting all our chance and perfecting that final ball in the box. - Amandla Stemele
I am happy for the win but a good team will punish Pirates, you can't play Dlamini and Miguel [Timm] in the middle. Again Timm was alone there as defensive midfield Dlamini is lazy better play Timm and Ndlondlo.
Ndlondlo can defend unlike Dlamini anyway well done to the guys. I also like Erasmus he does not force matters and wants to be a hero he is team player. - Thembelani Mdlaka
Good line-up and credit to Dlamini with those forward passes... we just need Lorch to replace Hotto for our Saturday game against Sundowns. - Kele Waha Mokoena
I am very happy with three points but inconsistency makes me be afraid heading to MTN8 second leg semi-final on Saturday. Another thing, I don't know how to instill this to the technical team and players to treat each and every game as big and serious games.
We shouldn't be on number four if we treated all games the same way. Hailing the defense also, and also wish the chop and changing of the winning team to be minimized unless otherwise and also wish the attacking department to keep the today's rhythm converting chances. - MisuMhlongo Mhlongo
We won but I'm not happy with 2-0, we suppose to win by 6-0. Other teams aren't wasting their clear chances if they play against us. Boys had a great mercy on Arrows. They supposed to show us that we're hungry for win by converting those clear chances to win. - Masina Matsebula Mkholo
Good performance, we take the three points and now focus on the MTN8. Erasmus makes this football thing look so simple. He makes a run, turn and pass. Simple. - Ramasedi Rami
Solid performance from the boys showed more hunger and we put our chances away am really liking Saleng in that ten position he is going to make things happen for us in terms of goal scoring opportunities, Erasmus was amazing tonight to watch... what a performance massive three points for the team. - Uaatjo Kasetura Hango
Nice game Ndlondlo, Saleng, Tim, Erasmus were on fire. And then our defense is unbreakable Maela, Sibisi and Ndah what a wow not forgetting Monyane I wish you keep this kind of attitude we love it #once and always. - NkuluFree Mkhize Sibusiso
