After scoring against Mamelodi Sundowns last weekend, Orlando Pirates striker Kermit Erasmus has Kaizer Chiefs in his sights as the Soweto derby looms on Saturday.
It's amazing what a bit of love can do. Welcomed back to Orlando Pirates as a returning hero, Erasmus has been in scintillating form for the Buccaneers.
The margins at the top can be so fine, and so sometimes all it needs is a player being made to feel wanted, to be given that little bit of added confidence, which can make such a difference. Especially for strikers, who thrive on the feel-good factor.
And there's plenty of that going around now for Erasmus and Pirates, who have looked a different side since he joined a few weeks ago.
On Saturday he made his point to former club Mamelodi Sundowns, where he had struggled for game-time, by scoring the opening goal in the Buccaneers' 3-0 victory.
Erasmus has also helped bring the best out of Monnapule Saleng and the pair are enjoying a deadly partnership ahead of the derby.
And don't bet against Erasmus scoring against Pirates' old foes. For one thing, he'll be wanting to pay back the Buccaneers' faithful for their warm welcome.
For another, the Gqeberha-born hotshot has made a habit of scoring in the big games throughout his career.
And Chiefs have been no exception, as the stats below show - though he'll be hoping that scoring a goal will result in him being on the winning team:
Erasmus scored the second of three goals as Downs trounced the Gavin Hunt-coached Chiefs 3-0. Peter Shalulile and Themba Zwane also netted that day.
The diminutive striker put City ahead in the 34th minute though Chiefs were to win on penalties after Samir Nurkovic had levelled the tie in the 84th minute
Erasmus scored as early as the third minute but again Amakhosi came back to win, thanks to late goals from Daniel Cardoso and Kearyn Baccus.
Erasmus put Bucs ahead in the 19th minute with Kingston Nkhatha equalising 20 minutes later.
Erasmus equalised after Lehlohonolo Majoro had put Chiefs ahead with the latter going on to grab a brace.
Ashley Hartog and Erasmus put SuperSport 2-0 up before Majoro pulled one back.
