Chelsea have reportedly completed the signing of Molde striker and Ivory Coast international David Datro Fofana.
With backup striker Armando Broja ruled out for the rest of the season through injury, Graham Potter is set to add another player to boost the striking department.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Kai Havertz are Potter’s only centre-forward choices, but reports indicate the Blues agreed on an £11 million deal with Molde for the young striker.
But who is Fofana? GOAL digs deep to unearth facts about the Ivorian, who could be the next big star at Stamford Bridge.
The striker was born on December 22, 2002, in Ouragahio, a town in south-central Ivory Coast where fellow internationals like Wilfried Singo, Serge Aurier, Franck Kessié and Siriki Dembélé were also born.
It wasn't long until he attracted interest from Belgian and French clubs, however Fofana opted to join Norwegian giants Molde on a free transfer in February 2021.
He signed a four-year deal and went on to make his debut against Hoffenheim in the first leg of a Europa League knockout round play-off tie, weeks after joining the club.
In the 3-3 draw against Hoffenheim, Fofana scored the third goal as he opened his account for Molde in his debut match.
Across all competitions, Fofana has scored 24 goals and registered 10 assists in 65 games for his Norwegian club.
In the just-concluded Eliteserien season, he has scored 15 times and provided five assists in 24 appearances, helping the club win the league race.
He made his Ivory Coast debut when the Elephants were beaten 2-0 by Niger in the 2020 African Nations Championship qualifier in October 2019.
He made his full senior debut against Burundi in November 2022, when the Elephants emerged victorious with a 4-0 margin during an international friendly.
Fofana started the game but was replaced by Jean Amani a minute before the hour mark.
Fofana is a centre-forward and he prefers to operate as a number nine.
The right-footed striker can also operate on the left or on the right wing in a front-three formation.
