Commentary

We hope you've enjoyed our live coverage of this thrilling contest from LaLiga. It's goodbye from us, and we hope to see you again next time!
Its hard to overstate the importance of that result for Barcelona, who move back into second place in LaLiga, six points clear of fifth-placed Real Betis, and eight clear of Sociedad. A defeat would have been a huge blow to Xavi's hopes of leading the Catalan giants to Champions League qualification, but the likes of Ter Stegen, Pique, Busquets, and De Jong produced heroic performances to lead them to a much-needed victory.
The referee blows for full-time, and Barcelona claim a huge win over Real Sociedad, courtesy of Aubameyang's first-half header. The Blaugrana were made to suffer in the second half, clinging onto their narrow lead despite losing multiple players to injury, with Sorloth missing the hosts' two best chances to equalise. It's a fifth consecutive away league win for Xavi's team!
90' + 10' FULL-TIME: REAL SOCIEDAD 0-1 BARCELONA.
90' + 10' Busquets gets up to win a massive aerial duel with Sorloth, and the full-time whistle is about to blow!
90' + 9' Le Normand concedes a cheap foul near the Barcelona area, and the Blaugrana are inching closer to a hard-fought win.
90' + 8' Garcia now stands firm to turn away a left-wing cross, before Frenkie de Jong clears Rico's long throw into the area. Have Barcelona done enough?
90' + 6' Gorosabel's low cross is headed away by Lenglet, but Sociedad can come again after winning a throw on the right wing…
90' + 4' Sociedad are appealing for a penalty again after a right-wing cross struck Alba near his arm! The stadium descends into silence as the referee stops for a VAR check, but he eventually waves the hosts' protests away!
90' + 3' A bizarre goalmouth scramble culminates in Martin chipping a cross behind for a goal kick, but Sociedad are claiming Sorloth was being held by a Barcelona defender! The referee isn't interested, and the play goes on.
Guevara
Martín Zubimendi
90' + 2' Zubimendi is replaced by Guevara as the hosts look to carve out a chance to equalise.
R. Le Normand
Yellow Card
90' + 2' Le Normand enters the book for a clumsy foul on Luuk de Jong, as Barcelona look to eat up a few precious seconds.
90' + 1' A huge roar went around the stadium when the added time was announced, but Barcelona are now keeping possession high up the field with the excellent Frenkie de Jong involved.
90' Wow, all those Barcelona injuries have added up, and we will have a minimum of 10 additional minutes at the end of this game!
89' Frenkie de Jong sprays the ball out to Dembele on the Barcelona right, and the Frenchman's deflected cross eventually finds Alba… His cross is headed away in front of Luuk de Jong, and Sociedad can look to build one last attack…
88' It's been a real battle for Barcelona since the break, but they enter the final two minutes of the 90 with a slender 1-0 lead. Can the Blaugrana hold on?
87' Martin's first involvement sees him hit a long-range shot into the arms of Ter Stegen, as Lenglet is able to re-enter the fray.
Ander Martín
A. Januzaj
87' Martin is also introduced, replacing Januazaj on the wing.
Portu
A. Isak
87' Portu replaces Isak for Sociedad, as the home team look to add more creativity to their ranks.
85' Lenglet is now down and receiving treatment, as Xavi's team battle yet another defensive injury!
Gavi
Yellow Card
85' Gavi enters the book for Barcelona after clattering Merino in midfield.
85' Isak lifts a brilliant ball out to Rico, but his heavy touch allows Dest to get a foot in. Rico eventually reclaims possession and lifts a hopeful ball into the box… but Ter Stegen claims it authoritatively.
83' Barcelona win a right-wing corner, but Merino and Gorosabel stand firm to clear consecutive deliveries, and the visitors are forced back.
L. de Jong
P. Aubameyang
82' Luuk de Jong, meanwhile, replaces the goalscorer Aubameyang as we enter the final 10 minutes.
C. Lenglet
Piqué
82' It's also time for Barcelona to make a change, as Pique finally leaves the pitch to a round of jeers from the home fans. He's defended solidly despite playing through the pain barrier all game, and is replaced by Lenglet.
Jon Guridi
Rafinha
81' Guridi is also introduced by the hosts, replacing Rafinha in midfield.
Gorosabel
Zaldúa
80' Sociedad decide to ring the changes, as Gorosabel replaces Zaldua at right-back.
79' The kick is eventually cleared to Zaldua 30 yards out, but his optimistic volley spins tamely into the hands of Ter Stegen.
79' Zaldua's deep cross is kept alive by Rico, and the Sociedad left-back wins a corner off Dest...
78' A bizarre moment as Isak and Pique fly into a forceful challenge, resulting in the ball spinning across the Barcelona box. No Sociedad player is there to attack it and the Blaugrana are able to clear.
77' Gavi does brilliantly to evade Rafinha, who brings him down deep into Barcelona territory to concede a cheap free kick.
76' Aubameyang latches onto a long ball forward to pick out Torres on the edge of the box, but the winger's touch is too heavy, and Sociedad are able to launch an attack of their own…
75' Alba is limping again after going down under Isak's challenge. The left-back looks like he'll be okay to carry on, however, much to the relief of Xavi.
73' Big chance missed by Barcelona! Torres finds himself in acres of space on the left wing after the impressive De Jong slips an excellent ball into his path. The Spaniard picks out Gavi 10 yards out, but his finish is wayward! The Blaugrana should really have killed off the contest there.
72' Real Sociedad are winless in their last 11 matches against Barcelona in LaLiga (two draws and nine losses). Can the hosts find some inspiration to turn this game around, or are Barcelona going to extend that run against the Basque club?
70' Barcelona can finally enjoy a spell of possession in the Sociedad half, perhaps their first since the break, but Dembele's loose ball allows Januzaj to step in for the hosts as we enter the final 20 minutes.
69' Ter Stegen with another save! Barcelona's keeper is called into action once more, diving to his right to prevent Januzaj's overhit cross from picking out the far corner!
68' Aubameyang's first-half header means he has scored 11 goals in his last 14 games for Barcelona, as many as in his previous 34 games in all competitions for former club Arsenal. Will his close-range finish prove the difference here?
66' We're approaching the halfway mark of this second period, with Sociedad well on top since the break and Barcelona suffering from numerous injury problems. Sorloth has squandered two good chances to level, but can the hosts create another?
S. Dest
Dani Alves
66' Dest replaces Alves, who limps off the pitch after 66 minutes.
64' Barcelona have yet another injury concern, with Alves still down after that tackle from former team-mate Rafinha. Dest is ready to come on, so it could be the end of the Brazilian's involvement.
63' Barcelona finally get the chance to attack as Alves picks out Dembele with an excellent long ball. The winger's cross is cleared by Zubeldia, before Alves is left in a heap by Rafinha's firm challenge.
62' It was Pique who made the block from Januzaj's shot moments ago, sliding in courageously to deny to winger a clear shot at goal, a terrific peice of play from the 35-year-old.
61' Aubameyang goes down after a heavy challenge in midfield, but is quickly back to his feet as Sociedad regain possession once again.
60' Januzaj and Isak exchange passes on the left, and the former sees a fierce effort blocked at close range after dashing into the Barcelona box. The attack is kept alive by Januzaj, but his cross is cleared at the second attempt by Alves.
59' The resulting corner is cleared at the first attempt, but Sociedad are immediately back on the ball in midfield. They've been excellent since the break, but need to make this pressure tell…
58' Great save from Ter Stegen! Rafinha steals possession from Dembele, and Januzaj slips a brilliant ball in behind the visiting backline. Sorloth brings it under control and hits a strong left-footed shot, but Ter Stegen turns it behind!
56' Alba is back on and continuing for the visitors, as Pique gingerly limps away from a challenge with Sorloth. Barcelona need to see out this wave of pressure from the hosts.
Eric García
R. Araujo
55' Barcelona's first change sees Garcia replace Araujo, who went down immediately after intervening to block Isak's cross, and looks in real discomfort.
54' Xavi will have to ring the changes here… Araujo and Alba are both down receiving treatment, and both seem to have signalled their intentions to come off.
53' Isak does well to escape Alba, but sees his cross deflected away before it can reach Sorloth. Barcelona are coming under intense pressure now, and all of Araujo, Alba, and Pique are limping!
52' Barcelona came into this contest having not lost any of their last 12 LaLiga away games (seven wins, five draws), and having won their last four. Will they hold on to preserve their good away form?
51' Garcia is back out to warm up on the sidelines, with Pique continuing to struggle with that earlier injury.
50' The game is now back underway as Sociedad win possession high up the pitch with a fearsome press. Aubameyang then fouls Merino on halfway, and the hosts can retain control of the ball.
49' The referee stops the game as an object appears to be thrown at Pique as he waits to receive a goal kick. These are not the scenes we want to see during any game, and the stadium announcer is trying to calm the home supporters down.
48' HOW HAS HE MISSED? Sorloth fires over a gaping goal from less than six yards! Seconds after slipping inside the Barcelona box, Sorloth is picked out by a brilliant dipping cross from Januzaj. The striker has the goal at his mercy, but fires over from a matter of yards!
48' A long ball forwards find Januzaj on the Sociedad left, and he slips a pass into Sorloth inside the box. The big striker slips under pressure from Araujo, however, and Barcelona can clear. Decent opening squandered by the hosts.
47' We normally associate Barcelona, and particularly Xavi's Barcelona, with patient possession play, but Sociedad had 54 per cent of the possession in the opening period. Can the hosts find a way of breaking down the Blaugrana?
46' It's a bit of a surprise to see Pique emerge for the second half. He was spotted giving his shirt to a fan at the break after picking up what looked to be a thigh injury earlier in the game, but the defender seems okay to continue for now.
46' We're back underway as Real Sociedad kick off the second half!
As it stands, Barcelona will move back into second place in LaLiga, boosting their hopes of Champions League qualification and dealing a massive blow to those of Real Sociedad. The hosts have shown enough to suggest there's still something there for them in this game, though, with Isak and Sorloth proving a handful when allowed to combine.
Barcelona have a one-goal lead at the end of an entertaining first half, with Aubameyang nodding Torres' cross home after Gavi won the ball back in superb fashion. Torres, Aubameyang and De Jong have all gone close to doubling the lead for Xavi's team, but Isak should have levelled for the hosts when shooting wide on the stroke of half-time. It's still all to play for in this contest!
45' + 1' HALF-TIME: REAL SOCIEDAD 0-1 BARCELONA.
45' We're to have just one added minute at the end of this half.
44' Isak had his head in his hands after that miss, and with good reason. He completely miscued the shot when one-on-one with Ter Stegen, and that is a huge let-off for Barcelona.
43' WHAT A MISS! Sociedad should be level! Isak and Sorloth link up spectacularly, with Isak sending the former Crystal Palace man clear with a brilliant ball. Sorloth waits to pick out Isak in space, but the Swedish striker sends a right-footed finish wide. Sociedad might not get a better chance than that!
41' Sociedad now win another corner at the other end, but Araujo can clear after Januzaj's delivery was met with a weak header by Zubeldia.
39' Close again for Barca! De Jong does brilliantly to win the ball in midfield before threading a lovely ball into the path of Aubameyang. The Gabonese striker hits a fierce right-footed shot, but it whistles just wide of the far corner. The Blaugrana are getting closer to a second…
38' CLOSE! Torres goes close to doubling Barcelona's lead, receiving the ball to feet from De Jong and cutting in from the left wing, before bending his shot narrowly wide of the top-right corner.
37' Isak is left frustrated as Pique kicks the ball off him and out for a Barcelona throw-in, as the 35-year-old tries to shake off this knock.
36' Pique is really struggling now, continually limping as Garcia warms up on the sidelines. The home fans aren't showing much sympathy, with Pique being booed every time he touches the ball.
35' Januzaj delivers the set piece to the back post… where Le Normand heads into Ter Stegen's arms. Good claim from the Barcelona goalkeeper.
34' Now Isak cleverly spins away from Pique and wins another foul on the right of the box. It's another promising position for the hosts to send a delivery into the box…
R. Araujo
Yellow Card
33' Araujo becomes the first man to enter the book for that challenge, but the set piece comes to nothing.
32' A terrible ball from Pique puts Alves under pressure, and Sociedad can break after stealing possession. Ter Stegen does well to punch a left-wing cross away before Sorloth could meet it, and before Araujo's foul gives the hosts a left-wing free kick.
30' Garcia is warming up for Barcelona, with Pique appearing to be holding his thigh after a tangle with Isak.
29' Gavi and De Jong are seeing their influence grow here, as Dembele cuts inside from the latter's pass and sees a shot deflected away.
28' Close from De Jong! Alves wins the ball back for Barcelona, allowing Dembele to switch the play to De Jong in space. The graceful midfielder touches the ball out of his feet and hits a lovely side-footed shot from 25 yards, but it skips just wide of the bottom-right corner. Unlucky!
26' The terrific atmosphere here shows no signs of letting up despite Barcelona taking the lead, as Sorloth is challenged firmly by Alba on the hosts' right, handing Barcelona a throw-in.
25' That Aubameyang header is the first goal Sociedad have conceded on their own ground in eight league matches. Can the hosts find a response to keep their hopes of a top-four finish alive?
23' The corner comes to nothing, however, and Torres hacks the ball all the way back to Sociedad keeper Remiro.
23' Now Sorloth wins a corner after brilliantly holding up a deep left-wing cross. Sociedad need to take advantage of this promising spell...
21' The hosts do well to press Alves into conceding possession on the Sociedad left, but the Brazilian dives in with a ferocious tackle to reclaim possession for the visitors. This is better from Sociedad, however, after the hosts originally looked shell-shocked by conceding the opener.
20' A well-worked Sociedad move ends with Zaldua dashing forward on the overlap, but his right-wing cross is too weak and is easily cleared by the visitors.
19' After scoring the opening goal here, Aubameyang has contributed to goals in each of his last three away games in La Liga (four goals, one assist), and has opened the scoring in four LaLiga games since joining the Catalan giants in January.
18' De Jong strides forward with purpose to lead another Blaugrana attack, but the Dutch midfielder heads well over the bar from an awkward position after the ball deflects into his path.
16' Decent chance for Barcelona! Brilliant work from Dembele, who nonchalantly slips Alves in on the overlap. The Brazilian's cut-back is perfect for Torres, but he blazes over from a good position on the edge of the box.
14' Isak leads a Sociedad break, and Ter Stegen does well to claim Rafinha's deep left-footed cross with Sorloth lurking at the back post.
13' Barcelona create a three-on-three situation immediately after kick-off, but Dembele's overhit pass is claimed by Remiro. The hosts need to settle here, with Barcelona oozing confidence after their early goal.
Ferran Torres
Assist
11' Torres claims the assist after showing brilliant composure to bring down Gavi's lofted pass and pick out Aubameyang with an inch-perfect ball. Great goal from Xavi's team!
P. Aubameyang
Goal
11' GOAAAALLL! Aubameyang gives Barcelona the lead just seconds after they had hit the post! The Blaugrana keep the attack alive through Gavi, and Torres chips the ball to the back post after being picked out by the youngster. Aubameyang is there to nod home, and the visitors lead!
11' Off the post! Alba's cross misses Gavi and picks out Dembele in space at the back post. The Frenchman has time to pick his spot, but sees his side-footed finish crash off the post!
9' Remiro is forced into his first intervention, racing off his line to smother the ball before Torres could get a shot away. Barcelona regain possession, however, and can move the ball around neatly in the hosts' half.
8' Isak escapes down the Sociedad right but sees his low cross cut out by Pique. The veteran defender has been in the headlines for off-pitch reasons this week, how will he respond to the pressure?
7' As well as Oyarzabal, the hosts are missing another key creative presence in David Silva for this clash, as he serves a two-match suspension. Januzaj is the man brought in by Imanol Alguacil, can the former Manchester United man provide the creative spark here?
6' Barcelona manage to beat the press, but Dembele's purposeful run ends with the winger hitting a tame left-footed shot against Le Normand, before De Jong pulls a long-range effort well wide.
5' Sociedad have made a positive start here, pressing Barcelona high and giving the likes of Pique and Araujo very little time on the ball. The hosts think they've won a throw-in high on the right wing, but the referee points for a Barca ball.
4' Real Sociedad have not lost any of their last seven LaLiga home games (five wins, two draws), keeping a clean sheet in all seven, and could record their best unbeaten run without conceding at home in the history of the competition (also a seven-game streak in 1980 – six wins and a draw). They will have to be at their very best to keep Xavi's team quiet, but a win would be huge for the Basque club's own Champions League hopes.
3' Close! Ter Stegen takes far too long to pick his pass, and ends up kicking the ball off the shins of Isak. That could've gone anywhere, but Xavi's team are fortunate to see it roll behind for a goal kick.
2' Rico gets forward for Sociedad to win the first corner of the game, firing a cross behind off Alves, but Pique and Torres combine to get it clear.
2' An early foul from Zubeldia sends Torres sprawling on halfway, and Barcelona are able to retain possession in their own half.
1' We're underway here as Barcelona get the ball rolling!
The teams are out in the Basque country, and kick-off is just moments away!
Barcelona have avoided defeat on each of their last five visits to the Reale Arena in LaLiga, winning three and drawing two, having lost five of their previous six league away games against Real Sociedad (one draw). Can the Blaugrana maintain that record here, and take a big step towards Champions League qualification in the process?
Xavi responds to Barca's 1-0 loss to Cadiz by reintroducing first-choice defenders Pique and Araujo to the starting XI, as well as recalling striker Aubameyang, who has six goals in his five away games in LaLiga. For the hosts, meanwhile, key man Mikel Oyarzabal is missing after sustaining a long-term injury last month, with Isak looking to add to his eight league goals this season as he leads the line.

SUBS: Mathew Ryan, Gaizka Ayesa, Illarramendi, Aritz Elustondo, Portu, Aihen Munoz, Jon Guridi, Ander Guevara, Andoni Gorosabel, Jon Pacheco, Nais Djouahra, Ander Martin.

Having lost back-to-back home games within the space of four days recently, exiting the Europa League against Eintracht Frankfurt and losing to Cadiz in LaLiga, Barcelona desperately need a result against Real Sociedad, who would move within two points of the Blaugrana with a win. Sevilla's earlier victory means Barca have dropped to fourth ahead of kick-off, but an away win would lift Xavi's men back into second place.
Hello and welcome to live coverage of a huge clash in LaLiga, as Barcelona travel to top-four rivals Real Sociedad!
