Relegation

Commentary

West Ham are still on track for another European adventure next season then. For Norwich, the end of the season will be a relief. Relegation can't come soon enough for them. That's all for now. Goodbye!
West Ham stay seventh in the Premier League with this win. They're just three points behind Manchester United now with a superior goal difference, and five points ahead of Wolves. Another top-six finish is definitely possible for them if they can keep their players fit. Norwich stay bottom. They've become the first side to fail to score in 20 Premier League games in three different Premier League seasons.
West Ham have strolled to victory against a poor Norwich side. The visitors had the win wrapped up by half-time thanks to two goals from Benrahma and one from Antonio. Lanzini's successful penalty in the second half added gloss to the win. It may turn out to be a Pyrrhic victory for the Hammers though, as they lost Antonio, Dawson and Benrahma to injury.
90' + 3' FULL-TIME: NORWICH CITY 0-4 WEST HAM UNITED
90' + 3' West Ham put together a long string of passes, with their supporters cheering each one. Eventually the referee takes pity on Norwich and blows the final whistle!
90' + 1' Krul easily saves Vlasic's effort from outside the box. There'll be three added minutes at the end of this game. West Ham have had it well won for ages.
89' Fabianski denies Norwich a consolation goal! Out of nowhere, Pukki finds himself racing in behind. The Finn fires at the West Ham keeper, who races off his line to block. Norwich get a corner that doesn't lead to much.
87' We're entering the final minutes of the game, but Norwich finally seem purposeful. Placheta's throughball rolls harmlessly out for a West Ham goal-kick.
85' Pukki latches onto Placheta's throughball and scuffs a shot towards the bottom right corner. He's not far from finding it. That's the closest Norwich have come to scoring.
83' Gilmour stands over the free-kick. The Chelsea loanee swings it over the wall and wide of the top left corner of the net.
81' Norwich achieve something small with their spell on the ball. Lanzini slides in on Placheta to give the hosts a free-kick just outside the D.
79' West Ham are just keeping possession. After a long series of passes, Norwich eventually succeed in winning the ball.
77' The game enters a bit of a lull, as West Ham pass the ball patiently around at the back. Norwich aren't too bothered about trying to win it at this point.
N. Vlašić
S. Benrahma
76' Benrahma won't get his hat-trick for West Ham. The Algerian hobbles off the pitch. Vlasic is his replacement.
74' Springett hands West Ham a corner which Norwich manage to see out. Benrahma seems worse for wear after Byram's tackle though. He could be the third player West Ham lose to injury here.
73' Benrahma sniffs his hat-trick as he bears down on goal through the middle. Byram gets his foot in just in time to put the Algerian off and allow Krul to claim the ball.
72' Placheta raises a cheer by firing straight at Fabianski from the left of the box. It's Norwich's first shot on target of the match, so that's something.
P. Płacheta
K. Dowell
71' Norwich make a change. Their Polish winger Placheta replaces Dowell.
70' West Ham almost make it 5-0! Fornals is inches away from finding the bottom left corner of the net from Cresswell's fizzed low cross into the six-yard box. As it goes, the shot trickles just wide of the left-hand post.
69' The West Ham fans are now singing Happy Birthday to Noble, who's celebrating his 35th birthday. They've been much louder than the Norwich fans, who have had little to celebrate all season.
68' Norwich put together a promising piece of attacking play, passing in triangles through the middle. It doesn't work out in the end, as the throughball's too powerful for Pukki to reach.
M. Noble
C. Dawson
67' West Ham make a substitution with the game already won. Noble replaces Dawson, who may still be nursing the effects of his stumble a few minutes ago.
Penalty Goal
65' GOAL! NORWICH CITY 0-4 WEST HAM UNITED! Lanzini gets on the scoresheet, slotting his penalty calmly into the bottom right corner of the net. Krul has no chance of keeping it out.
64' PENALTY FOR WEST HAM! The referee points to the spot after seeing that Sorensen handled Dawson's header while challenging for the ball. Norwich's game could go from bad to worse.
62' West Ham force a corner down their left. Fornals swings it in. Dawson charges at it to attack it, apparently heading over and landing awkwardly near the advertising hoarding. He turns out fine, but VAR advises the referee to review the incident...
B. Williams
Yellow Card
61' Williams slides in to win the ball off Fornals but clatters the West Ham man in the process. The Manchester United loanee's shown the yellow card.
60' Sorensen gets impatient at the base of midfield and sends the ball forward. It's intended for Pukki, but it's nowhere near the Finn. Fabianski catches it.
59' Norwich are enjoying a little more of the ball in this second half. They still aren't really threatening West Ham much though.
57' Springett floats a cross into the box from the left, but it's too close to Pukki for him to reach. Fabianski gets to it easily.
55' The offside flag goes up against Benrahma now. There's not much space in midfield at the moment. Norwich have another corner which leads to very little.
53' Pukki's the latest player to stray offside. Norwich are still offering little going forward.
51' Rice pings the ball out wide to Coufal, who crosses first-time for Fornals. The Spaniard gets a decent save out of Krul with a diving header, only for the offside flag to go up against him.
49' Norwich get a corner, but this one is less eventful. Up the other end Aarons holds off his man to earn Norwich a goal-kick. The West Ham fans are cheering their players' individual passes already.
47' Norwich start the half by forcing two corners. They think they've pulled a goal back straight away as Fabianski misses a cross and Byram stabs the loose ball into the net, but VAR quickly intervenes to rule the goal out for a foul.
46' Norwich get the second half started. It could be a thankless one for them.
A. Yarmolenko
M. Antonio
46' West Ham make their expected change too. Yarmolenko replaces the crocked Antonio.
L. Rupp
P. Lees-Melou
46' Lees-Melou also heads off. Rupp replaces him on the pitch for Norwich.
T. Springett
M. Rashica
46' Norwich make two half-time changes. Their 19-year-old youth product Springett replaces Rashica first.
Norwich have lost all 17 previous games in which they've been behind at half-time in the Premier League this season. That record will surely stretch to 18 here. The Canaries have offered very little up front and have failed to have a shot on target yet. West Ham can probably score more if they keep their effort levels up.
West Ham have the three points all but wrapped up at the break. They've been clinical and too good for Norwich, who have played with typical toothlessness. Benrahma's first goal may have been lucky, but his second was a peach. Antonio got a tap-in in between, although we may not see him in the second half.
45' + 4' HALF-TIME: NORWICH CITY 0-3 WEST HAM UNITED
J. Bowen
Assist
45' + 3' That's Bowen's second assist of the game. Norwich haven't been able to handle his trickery and West Ham's attacking threat as a whole.
S. Benrahma
Goal
45' + 3' GOAL! NORWICH CITY 0-3 WEST HAM UNITED! This game's over as a contest already. Bowen cuts the ball back from the right for Benrahma, who lashes it high past Krul right down the centre. It's a lovely goal.
45' + 2' Bowen clatters a left-footed effort into the body of Byram. Pukki tries to make life difficult for Zouma but the West Ham defender wins their individual battle easily.
45' + 1' There'll be at least three minutes of added time at the end of this first half. It's been an easy one for West Ham.
45' Sorensen has a shot blocked. Bowen is sent running in behind and spots Antonio to his left. He can't find the Jamaica striker though, as Norwich intercept the Engishman's pass.
43' Gilmour hands West Ham a free-kick down their left. Antonio doesn't look comfortable at all. Norwich clear and try to counter, only for their attack to be thwarted.
41' Aarons heads Bowen's cross away. West Ham have been comfortably on top in this first half.
39' Antonio is still hobbling and looks unable to continue beyond the end of this half. Yarmolenko is getting ready to come on.
37' After a chat with the physios, Antonio gets back to his feet. The Jamaica forward leaves the pitch temporarily before he's waved back on.
35' The West Ham fans boo after Antonio's left on the turf following a tough tackle by Byram. The referee eventually stops play so he can receive treatment. More on Antonio's goal quickly. That was his fifth goal in four Premier League appearances against Norwich.
33' Norwich get a corner down their right. It causes West Ham no problems.
31' West Ham are full of confidence now. Antonio nods Benhrama's cross down for Fornals. Byram gets in the way of the Spaniard's shot. Bowen fires the rebound high and wide from close range. West Ham want a penalty but won't get one.
M. Antonio
Goal
30' GOAL! NORWICH CITY 0-2 WEST HAM UNITED! Norwich cope well with Bowen's ball in, but West Ham still have possession. Krul can't claim Bowen's throughball and Antonio prods the ball easily into the empty net!
28' Williams tussles with Bowen and trips the West Ham winger. West Ham will get another chance to test Norwich from a set piece.
27' Norwich have a corner though. Unfortunately for them, West Ham clear it easily.
26' Norwich now have a free-kick down their left. It lands nicely for Gilmour, who smacks a volley into the body of Dawson. The home players and fans appeal for a penalty, but Dawson made himself as small as possible.
J. Bowen
Yellow Card
25' Bowen picks up the game's first yellow card for impeding the run of Williams.
23' Benrahma strays offside as he tries to get past Aarons.
22' Gilmour slips Lees-Melou down the inside-right channel. The midfielder wins Norwich a throw-in. From it, the hosts float a tame cross into the arms of Fabianski.
21' Lees-Melou lofts a pass over the top for Pukki to chase. Fabianski gets to it first.
19' Pukki dribbles into the box and thinks he's won another corner. The offside flag goes up against the Finn instead.
17' Norwich force a corner down their right. Dowell's ball in is headed out as far as Lees-Melou. The Frenchman connects with a decent volley, but West Ham have bodies in the way.
15' That opening goal is important for West Ham. They've lost just one of the Premier League games they've scored first in this season. Norwich have won just one game when they've conceded first.
14' Norwich react to going behind by going straight on the attack. Lees-Melou's shot from outside the box is blocked. The Canaries get a corner. West Ham clear it.
J. Bowen
Assist
12' Bowen's been bright at the start of this game, and he wasted no time in finding Benrahma in space. It's a fortuitous goal for West Ham, but not an undeserved one.
S. Benrahma
Goal
12' GOAL! NORWICH CITY 0-1 WEST HAM UNITED! That didn't take long. Benrahma goes for goal from the left of the box with his right foot after a switch of play by Bowen. The Algerian's shot deflects off Aarons to catch Krul by surprise. The Norwich goalkeeper can't keep it from finding the back of the net.
11' Fornals looks for Bowen inside the box, but Williams is alive to the danger. West Ham are hogging the ball at this early stage of the game.
9' Aarons wins a free-kick near the halfway line as he's stopped by Benrahma.
7' Bowen beats Williams down the right to fizz the ball low towards the centre of the box. Hanley slides in to intercept it.
6' Lanzini's ambitious effort from range hits a Norwich defender and goes out for a West Ham corner. Krul punches it away. Bowen's follow-up cross doesn't find Benrahma.
5' Rashica skips into the box. The Kosovan looks to shift the ball onto his right foot, but is quickly dispossessed. West Ham counter, and Cresswell's delivery is cleared.
4' The corner is turned into another from the opposite side. West Ham take it shirt. Lanzini's deep cross is headed over by Dawson.
3' West Ham start the game brightly. Coufal's high cross from the right is taken down by Benrahma. The Algerian lays the ball off to Antonio, whose shot is deflected out for an early West Ham corner.
1' West Ham get this game underway!
West Ham should be confident of getting back to winning ways against such inferior opponents. They won 4-0 in their last away league game against Norwich, who've lost their last three matches against the Hammers without scoring. West Ham have also won each of their last seven Premier League matches against sides bottom of the table.
There are two changes to West Ham from their 1-0 defeat away to Eintracht Frankfurt that knocked them out of the Europa League. Fabianski returns in goal, while Benrahma also starts. Areola and Soucek drop to the bench.
Norwich boss Dean Smith makes one change to his team from their loss to Aston Villa. Sorensen replaces Mathias Normann in central midfield.
SUBS: Ryan Fredericks, Alex Kral, Nikola Vlasic, Ben Johnson, Alphonse Areola, Mark Noble, Arthur Masuaku, Tomas Soucek, Andriy Yarmolenko.
WEST HAM UNITED (4-1-4-1): Lukasz Fabianski; Vladimir Coufal, Craig Dawson, Kurt Zouma, Aaron Cresswell; Declan Rice (c); Jarrod Bowen, Manuel Lanzini, Said Benhrama, Pablo Fornals; Michail Antonio.
SUBS: Lukas Rupp, Przemyslaw Placheta, Jon Rowe, Tony Springett, Christos Tzolis, Ben Gibson, Angus Gunn, Dimitrios Giannoulis, Liam Gibbs.
NORWICH CITY (4-2-3-1): Tim Krul; Max Aarons, Grant Hanley (c), Sam Byram, Brandon Williams; Jacob Lungi Sorensen, Billy Gilmour; Kieran Dowell, Pierre Lees-Melou, Milot Rashica; Teemu Pukki.
The stakes are higher for West Ham, who exited the Europa League this week and still have to secure their participation in European competition next season. The Hammers are winless in their last four league games and need to return their attention to finishing as high as possible in the league.
With their relegation confirmed by their 2-0 defeat away to Aston Villa last week, Norwich have only pride to play for in their final four games of the season. The Canaries have failed to score in a league-high 19 different Premier League games this season. They can only hope the goals will come now that they have nothing to lose.
