    Which players should KCCA sign?

After missing out on the ticket for next season’s continental competitions, the Kasasiro Boys' head coach Morley Byekwaso will have to beef up the squad for a better display in the new campaign but which players should he go for in the current transfer window?

  2. Stephen Mukwala
    URA FC.

After his impressive display for URA FC which handed them the Ugandan Premier League title, Stephen Mukwala, who also won the Golden Boot award in the previous season after notching 13 goals, can be a good signing for the Lugogo-based side.

His speed and power to finish the ball has caught the eye of many other clubs but KCCA can take advantage and secure his services.

  3. Yunus Sentamu
    Vipers SC.

Another player who can help KCCA next season is Yunus Sentamu, who enjoyed a good season with rivals Vipers SC and scooped the Golden Boot award for the 2020-21 season after managing 16 goals and four assists.

The 26-year-old can score all types of goals, from using his head well, turning half chances into goals, and can easily fit into KCCA’s style of play under Byekwaso.

  4. Shafik Kagimu
    URA FC.

The 22-year-old was the engine for the Tax Collectors under coach Sam Ssimbwa as he marshalled the midfield well and was the team’s leading player with nine assists, a feat that helped his team to score 41 goals.

With KCCA lacking creativity in the middle of the park, Byekwaso should go for the services of the star, who was nominated for the 'Best Midfielder' award during the UPL Awards in 2016-17 season and also scored seven league goals in 28 matches in 2018 season.

  5. Mathias Muwanga
    Express FC.

Goalkeeper Muwanga, who parted ways with Express FC at the end of the season after they failed to agree on a contract extension, is another player who can easily walk into the KCCA squad and give competition to first-choice Charles Lukwago.

Apart from winning the UPL title, Muwanga also won the Golden Glove award after keeping (13) clean sheets, and his addition could give coach Byekwaso quality options in the position.

  6. Frank “Machete” Kalanda
    Express FC.

The 29-year-old is another player who is a free agent after he parted ways with the Red Devils at the expiry of his contract, but his second spell at the club he rejoined in the 2019-20 season saw him score 18 goals in 52 appearances across all competition.

His physique and ability to find the back of the net should be an added advantage for KCCA if they go for his signature.
