Football lovers on the continent are divided after Super Eagles coach stated he is targeting the 2023 Afcon title.

Fans in Africa have taken to social media to express their feelings regarding Jose Peseiro's sentiments that Nigeria will win the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations competition to be held in Ivory Coast despite missing the 2022 World Cup.

The Super Eagles were among the African football giants that missed out on the just-ended global tournament in Qatar, where Morocco made history by becoming the first side from the continent to make it to the final four, and Argentina getting crowned after defeating France.

Peseiro states they are ready to beat any team that come their way to ensure they win the competition for the first time since 2013.

Currently, the West African nation tops Group A after victories against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome & Principe respectively. In March they will play Guinea Bissau.

    Peseiro should learn from Eto'o

Great men don't make much noise but rather their achievements speak for them. Samuel Eto'o said Cameroon will play in the World Cup finals but they were eliminated right in the group stage. So let Jose Paseiro rather focus on winning the qualifier first before talking about winning the competition otherwise, it will be another disaster for Nigeria not to be at the Afcon - Ernesto Sylvester
