Commentary

Thanks for joining our commentary this evening. Until next time, goodbye.
Madrid return to action in LaLiga after the international break on April 2 against Celta Vigo on the road, still with a nine-point lead at the top of the table. Barcelona face another test of their credentials to finish in the top four when they host Sevilla on April 3.
Barcelona end a three-year drought without a win in El Clasico with a 4-0 hammering of Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was the architect of Los Blancos' downfall as he notched two goals and provided an assist in the contest. The Gabonese opened the scoring with a close-range header before Ronald Araujo nodded home a second in the first half as Ousmane Dembele provided both assists. Ferran Torres converted early in the second half from an Aubameyang backheel before the former Arsenal man put the icing on the cake with a neat finish that was awarded by VAR after initially being ruled out for offside. It was a perfect first trip to the Bernabeu as a manager for Xavi, delivering an emphatic win over the LaLiga leaders.

F. de Jong
71' De Jong has also enjoyed a fine evening and is replaced by Gavi in the Barcelona midfield.
M. Depay
P. Aubameyang
71' Aubameyang leaves the field after a fine performance in the final third with two goals and an assist. He may have been fortunate to remain on the pitch for a challenge on Kroos, but the referee did not take action. The forward is replaced by Depay.
68' Aubameyang probes in the final third as he tries to carve out space for a strike, but on this occasion Militao ushers him away from goal.
67' Aubameyang has scored in each of his last five meetings with Real Madrid (six goals), making him the first player to score in five successive games against Real Madrid in the 21st century (LaLiga and Champions League).
66' WIDE! Casemiro takes possession 25 yards from goal and angles a strike towards the target, but his effort drifts well wide of the left post.
Asensio
Rodrygo
64' Rodrygo is withdrawn from the final third and is replaced by Asensio.

Lucas Vázquez
Nacho
63' Nacho makes way from the Madrid backline for Vazquez. Ancelotti is looking for fresh legs on the field.
L. Modrić
Yellow Card
63' Modric catches Dembele with a late lunge and goes into the book.
62' De Jong nods the ball into the path of Aubameyang in the Madrid box, and he stretches to guide an effort at goal. However, his strike is tame and saved with ease by Courtois.
60' Vinicius raids down the left flank and offloads inside to Rodrygo, but he sends a tame effort straight into the hands of Ter Stegen.
58' CHANCE! Aubameyang should have a hat-trick as he latches on to an Alba cross at the back post, but he places his effort on the stretch wide of the right post. Madrid are cut open with ease once more.
55' Aubameyang is the first player to be directly involved in three goals in his first appearance in El Clasico in all competitions in the 21st century (two goals and an assist).
53' As previously mentioned, Madrid have not been ready to play from the off this evening. They face a real battle to make the scoreline respectable at this stage. Barcelona look hungry for further goals.
Ferran Torres
Assist
51' Torres makes a great run behind Nacho to latch on to Pique's ball over the top before finding Aubameyang with a neat offload, and the Gabonese makes no mistake with his strike.
P. Aubameyang
Goal
51' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! VAR OVERTURNS THE DECISION, AUBAMEYANG IS AWARDED THE GOAL!!!!! 4-0 BARCELONA!!!!!!! Incredible scenes at the Bernabeu as the referee overturns the offside decision against Aubameyang to allow the goal to stand. Pique releases Torres down the left flank, who remains in line with Nacho as the ball is played. The Spaniard then releases Aubameyang with a precise offload, who then clips a brilliant strike over the onrushing Courtois into the back of the net. Madrid are not happy as they believe the whistle prevented them from getting back at the Barcelona forward, but the goal stands.
51' DISALLOWED GOAL! Aubameyang provides a fine finish to clip a strike over Courtois following an offload from Torres in the final third. The flag goes up almost immediately to disallow the goal but VAR will have a look.
50' Madrid try to hit back with a corner on the left flank, but Casemiro fouls Ter Stegen as he attempts to attack a cross from Modric.
49' Torres has scored in his last three games in the Spanish La Liga (four goals in total).

The Catalan club continue to pour on the agony for Los Blancos as finally Torres converts an opening. Aubameyang releases his team-mate with a neat flick to open room for the Spaniard to fire at goal from the inside-left channel. Torres buries his strike into the top-right corner giving Courtois no chance.
46' TORRES HAS TO SCORE! Barcelona should be out of sight as Aubameyang releases Torres through on goal. He only has Courtois to beat, but curls his right-footed strike wide of the right post.
46' We're back under way in El Clasico.
M. Díaz
Carvajal
46' Mariano replaces Carvajal at the break for the home side to improve their options in the final third.
E. Camavinga
T. Kroos
46' Kroos is withdrawn at the break for the home side and is replaced by Camavinga.
Madrid have missed the focal point and clinical edge provided by Karim Benzema in the final third. However, their overall performance has been poor as they have allowed Barca to dictate the tempo of the game, while they've also made sloppy errors. If they don't improve in the second half, the scoreline could get out of hand quickly amid fine play from the Catalan club.
Barcelona are in control of El Clasico as they hold a 2-0 lead over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who may have been fortunate to be on the field after an early challenge on Toni Kroos was unpunished, headed the visitors ahead from Ousmane Dembele's cross. The Frenchman then notched another assist with a precise corner for Ronald Araujo to rise and plant into the back of the net. Madrid have it all to do in the second half.
45' HALF-TIME: REAL MADRID 0-2 BARCELONA
44' Torres whips a dangerous cross in from the left flank that Aubameyang attempts to attack, but it just sails over the head of the Barcelona forward.
42' Madrid have a mountain to climb now and without Benzema they have lacked a clinical edge in the final third.
40' Barcelona have scored 29 first-half goals in 28 games, more than any other team in the Spanish La Liga this season.
O. Dembélé
Assist
38' Dembele notches his second assist of the game with another fine cross that is converted by Araujo.
R. Araujo
Goal
38' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! ARAUJO DOUBLES BARCELONA'S LEAD!!!!!!! 2-0!!!!!! The Catalan club extend their lead in El Clascio as Araujo rises to power a header into the net from a Dembele corner. Barca win a corner down the right flank through fine work from Dembele, and the Frenchman takes the set-piece. He curls his cross to the six-yard box where Araujo rises unmarked and sends his header into the bottom-right corner.
36' PENALTY SHOUT! Vinicius latches on to a Valverde offload and surges into the Barca box. He attempts to round Ter Stegen, but goes down under pressure before the visitors scramble the ball away. The Brazilian is convinced that he should have had a penalty, but the referee is adamant it was not. Replays prove that the official was correct.
35' SAVE! Courtois denies Aubamenyang a second with a sharp save. De Jong plays the forward into acres of space in the inside-left channel, but the forward sees his left-footed drive stopped by the Belgian.
33' Barcelona have avoided defeat in their last 17 matches when scoring the opening goal in LaLiga dating back to 22nd May 2021 against Eibar.
Sergio Busquets
Yellow Card
31' Busquets pulls back Militao on the charge out from the back for Madrid and goes into the book.
O. Dembélé

P. Aubameyang
Goal
29' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!! AUBAMEYANG HEADS BARCA IN FRONT!!!!!! 1-0!!!!! The forward is on the spot in the Madrid box to direct Dembele's cross past Courtois. Dembele surges down the right flank and supplies a perfect delivery into the middle. Aubameyang makes a run to the near post and stoops to plant a header past Courtois into the bottom-left corner. A fine finish.
28' Kroos attempts an ambitious strike from long range from a free-kick as he spots Ter Stegen off his line, but the Barca keeper gets back to make the claim.
F. de Jong
Yellow Card
26' De Jong is a fraction late on Kroos and goes into the book for his challenge.
24' BLOCK! Pedri clips a pass into the path of Torres in the inside-left channel and he shoots first-time at goal. However, Casemiro gets back to make a vital block to deny the Barca forward.
T. Kroos
Yellow Card
22' Kroos battles Busquets for possession and catches the midfielder on the ankle. He goes into the book for his challenge and is not happy with the decision. Considering that Aubameyang was not booked for his tackle on the German, Kroos certainly has a case.
20' Carvajal feeds Rodrgyo and he surges into the final third before lining up a strike, but his effort is blocked by Pique.
18' INCHES WIDE! Barca threaten once more as Torres is played into space on the edge of the box. The Spaniard cuts inside to shoot on his right foot, but he curls his effort just wide of the right post. Another warning for Los Blancos.
16' Barcelona are beginning to edge possession. Without Benzema, Madrid appear tentative to push forward.
14' SHOT! Madrid respond down the left flank and Nacho makes a good progress. He offloads back to Vinicius on the edge of the box, but his low strike is comfortably held by Ter Stegen.
12' CHANCE! Barca recycle possession through De Jong, who tees up Dembele. The Frenchman curls an effort towards the top-left corner, but his strike is pushed away by a firm hand from Courtois. A fine double stop from the Belgian.
12' SAVE! AUBAMEYANG HAS TO SCORE! Torres surges down the left flank and offloads to Aubamenyang in space in the box. The forward has time to turn and shoot on his left foot, but he sends his effort straight at Courtois, who makes a solid stop.
11' Aubameyang catches Kroos on the shin in a battle for a 50/50 and gives away a free-kick. The referee is lenient with the Barca forward and does not even brandish a yellow card.
9' Madrid are finding space behind the Barca backline in the early stages, using the pace of Rodrgyo and Vinicius to great effect.
7' SAVE! Alaba releases Vinicius behind the Barca defence with a brilliant throughball. He twists and turns to create space for Valverde to strike in the Barca box. The midfielder steers a strike towards goal, but Ter Stegen makes a fine stop to push it past the post.
5' WIDE! Valverde breaks from the middle of the park and runs at the Barca defence. He offloads to Rodrygo in the inside-right channel, but the forward blasts his effort wide of the right post.
3' Pique sends a long ball over the top for the run of Torres, but the ball skips off the surface and out for a goal-kick.
2' Torres latches on to a knock down from an Alba free-kick from the left flank, but he launches his first-time volley over the bar.
1' We're under way in El Clasico.
Real Madrid have won their last five games with Barcelona in all competitions. Only Los Blancos, with seven wins between April 1962 and February 1965, have achieved a better run in the history of El Clasico.
Xavi has made two changes to his side from their win over Galatasaray last time out. Sergino Dest is ruled out due to injury and is replaced at the back by Araujo. Traore drops to the bench in the final third as Dembele gets the nod to join Aubameyang and Torres.
Madrid have been dealt a hammer blow with the absence of Karim Benzema, who suffered a calf injury in Los Blancos' win over Mallorca. Ancelotti has made three changes to his side from the win on Monday, with Ferland Mendy joining Benzema on the sidelines. Militao is fit to start in the defence after an illness, while Carvajal is restored at right-back in place of Vazquez. Modric comes into the team in the middle of the park, but the responsibility of leading the line falls to Rodrygo, who has overcome his injury worries after limping out of the contest in Mallorca.

Barca are unbeaten in 11 matches in all competitions and booked their place in the quarter-finals of the Europa League with a 2-1 win over Galatasaray on the road during the week. Xavi's men had to come from behind to beat the Turkish outfit, but were good enough to advance. They now turn their attention to halting Madrid's charge to the crown, but also firming up their own top-four place in the division to secure Champions League football for next season.
Madrid can extend their lead at the top of LaLiga to 12 points this evening by winning El Clasico. Sevilla's draw against Real Sociedad has paved the way for Carlo Ancelotti's men to inch closer to the crown. Los Blancos have won their last five matches in all competitions and maintained their form on Monday by brushing aside Mallorca on the road. Ancelotti will be looking for a similar performance against Barca, but Xavi will aim to make life as difficult as possible at the Bernabeu.
Good evening and welcome to the live commentary of the LaLiga clash between Real Madrid and Barcelona at the Bernabeu.
