While Orlando Pirates fought hard against Stellenbosch FC in Wednesday night's 1-1 draw, there is plenty of room for improvement.
The draw in the Winelands followed on from Pirates' 1-0 win over Swallows FC last weekend, a game in which they also did not really fire on all cylinders.
GOAL assesses the Sea Robbers players' individual performances:
Not really at fault for the goal, and otherwise didn't have too many saves to make as Stellies either shot wide of the mark or his defence did the job.
Shandu was the standout player for Pirates in the opening half, impressing with his ability to get dangerous balls into the opposition box. Not as involved in attack after the break, but kept things tight in defence.
Impressive at times, but he was also beaten badly by van Wyk twice. Scored a brilliant header.
The Nigerian's first start of the season, looked a little rusty and was fortunate not to pick up a second yellow card.
A mixed evening - saved a goal on his own line, but was caught flat-footed for Stelies' equaliser.
Tried to make things happen, a wholehearted performance as he made tackles in his own box, contributed in attack and he nearly scored in the second half.
Tried hard but didn't have much joy on the night; a quiet game by his standards.
Kept things tidy but didn't give the Sea Robbers a lot of attacking momentum.
Had a few bright moments but didn't really link up enough with Bienevu Eva Nga.
A very rare start, but Tlolane failed to make his mark as he looked off the pace and he was subbed at the interval.
A frustrating night for the big man who barely got onto the ball - his runs seemed out of sync with his teammates.
Surprisingly left on the bench, the Namibian was a significant upgrade for Tlolane.
Still finding his feet in his first appearance of the season, a couple of his probing passes showed what he can bring to Bucs. Pirates need a fit and firing Pule.
Had to work hard to contain the energetic young Stellies midfielders, generally had a solid game.
Put in some very dangerous crosses and made a big impact down the right flank in his eight-minute cameo.
Wasn't involved much after coming on in the 87th minute.
