Could Mamelodi Sundowns 'C' win the PSL?

Masandawana cruised the easiest of 4-0 victories over Amakhosi last week, despite not having a number of key players available

It's arguable that a Mamelodi Sundowns team comprised of players who were not in the match-day squad in the Kaizer Chiefs thrashing, would be good enough to win the league title.

For the most part it was injuries which kept some big players out, yet the way they walked over Chiefs, one would not have even noticed their absences.

The current Downs squad is brimful of quality, with an outstanding mix of experience, youth, international, African and local talent.

Here is GOAL's starting XI of those players not in the squad for last Saturday's victory at Loftus:

Zambia FA.

Goalkeeper: Kennedy Mweene

An Afcon 2012 winner, the Zambian also has seven league titles, three Nedbank Cups, two Telkom Knockouts, one MTN8 title and a Caf Champions League winners medal in his trophy cabinet.

Right-back: Grant Kekana

Kekana broke into the Bafana side last season after some superb performances. The former AmaTuks and SuperSport star plays at centre-back these days, but played full-back earlier in his career.

Centre-back: Mothobi Mvala

Another Bafana regular. Mvala usually plays in central midfield, but his tenacious approach and good physical specs make it easy for him to drop deeper, as he has on occasion.

Centre-back: Rivaldo Coetzee

One of South Africa's top talents, the former Ajax Cape Town man is comfortable in defence or as a holding midfielder. So much more to come from him still.

Left-back: Bradley Ralani

The pacey veteran operates as a winger, but is used to back-tracking to help out in defence and could easily fill in at full-back such is his superb engine.

Right wing: Lebohang Maboe

Missed nearly all of last season through injury but is expected back soon. A fantastic attacking midfielder who was really at the top of his game before the setback.
Mamelodi Sundowns

Centre-mid: Sipho Mbule

One of the PSL's most in-demand players, Masandawana managed to win the race to sign him from SuperSport ahead of the current season, likely for a hefty fee.

The Bolivian arrived with excellent pedigree and high expectations from South America midway through last season.

Left wing: Kermit Erasmus

The former Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City striker has battled with injuries since joining Downs, but remains one of South Africa's top strikers.

Number 10: Bongani Zungu

One of Sundowns' big-name international signings, they brought the Bafana Bafana star back from France in the off-season.
