Alejandro Garnacho reveals new Man Utd squad number previously worn by Cristiano Ronaldo

<p>The 19-year-old winger has <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/man-utd-s-alejandro-garnacho-wearing-cristiano-ronaldo-s-al-nassr-shirt/bltddb3a1f9d4e8e2b7" target="_blank">never hidden his admiration for former Red Devils superstar Ronaldo</a>. There was talk at one stage of the Argentine youngster <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/alejandro-garnacho-man-utd-next-cristiano-ronaldo-tomasz-kuszczak-good-comparison/blt4b5a44cd05329ebb" target="_blank">being handed the No.7 jersey</a> that his boyhood idol once wore with distinction at Old Trafford.</p>

WHAT HAPPENED?

<p>That shirt has, however, been <a href="https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/man-utd-reveal-mason-mount-s-new-shirt-number-alejandro-garnacho-snubbed/bltdcbbfd9f6b151909" target="_blank">passed to summer signing Mason Mount</a>, leaving Garnacho to look elsewhere. He has donned No.49 since making a senior breakthrough with United, but his brother had teased at a change being made when posting a picture of Ronaldo wearing 17 for Portugal.</p>
