GOAL takes a look at the biggest players who could be on the move this month

The month of January represents an important period for football clubs across Europe, with the transfer window opening and business to be carried out.

It's the mid-way point of the season and many players will have taken stock of their positions, while clubs will be looking to strengthen their squads.

GOAL takes a look at the top 25 transfer targets this January.

  • Christian Pulisic Chelsea 2021-22

    Known affectionaly as 'Wonder Boy' during his breakthrough years, USMNT star Christian Pulisic has seen the sheen wear off since making the switch to Chelsea in 2019.

    He has struggled with a series of injuries, which have prevented him from achieving any sort of consistency and a number of teams are reportedly monitoring his availability this January.

    Kylian Mbappe will be a free agent this summer if Paris Saint-Germain cannot get him to agree fresh terms on a new contract.

    Real Madrid have made no secret of their desire to sign the France World Cup winner, but found their advances rejected during the summer. PSG may be forced to engage in January, particularly if they want to avoid losing out on a transfer fee.

    Barcelona have reportedly expressed their interest, although it is unclear how the Catalan club will afford a deal. Saudi-backed Newcastle United are another team that have been touted as a potential destination.

Chelsea are reportedly interested, while Raiola has spoken of clubs such as Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain. However, it remains to be seen if a winter move will be sanctioned.

    Fiorentina star forward Dusan Vlahovic has been prolific in front of goal in Serie A, and remains just behind Robert Lewandowski in the race for the European Golden Shoe.

    Vlahovic's contract expires in 2023, so he'll need to be offloaded either in January or next summer in order for Fiorentina to receive a lucrative fee.

    Jesse Lingard looked to have had something of a career revival when he joined West Ham on loan from Man Utd last season, but he's since returned to Old Trafford and Ralf Rangnick's plans for him remain unclear. Former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stated that Lingard was to remain a part of the squad, but that is now all up in the air.

  • Antonio Rudiger Chelsea

    Thomas Tuchel has refused to go into detail regarding the contract situation of Antonio Rudiger, whose deal expires next summer, but the centre-back could still very well stay at Stamford Bridge.

    Man Utd and Tottenham are rumoured to be interested in the experienced defender.

    His development at Juventus has reportedly alerted Premier League clubs Tottenham and Arsenal, with the Turin giants expected to demand a fee of €35 million ($39m/£29m) to let the Sweden international go in January.
