In a game where he was barely seriously tested for the most part, the No.1 saw the first serious shot fly into his net although, it must be said, there was little he could have done about the situation. He did well to keep out a possible second goal with a good save late in the game but his ball distribution over the course of the 90 minutes left little to be desired.
It was a decent game for the right-back who was strong in defence but, as anticipated, made few runs into the opposition area owing to the possible danger of Morocco’s wide men.
The Reading left-back defended well and made a few runs into the opposition area but was let down by his final delivery.
But for the goal, the Leicester City man did well to organise the backline as Morocco struggled to create any clear openings.
The Strasbourg centre-back did well in a partnership with Amartey as they kept the Moroccans at bay until the 82nd minute when Sofiane Boufal capitalised on a loose ball to fire in the winner.
The Real Mallorca player provided a good cover for Ghana’s backline, allowing Thomas Partey freedom to operate.
The Arsenal man failed to exercise dominance in midfield, possibly due to a lack of offensive support.
The Stade Rennes sensation was definitely not at his best as he was largely kept quiet by Achraf Hakimi.
The Genk attacker brought Ghana closest to scoring with a second half curler; that was not surprising as he was the Black Stars’ brightest spot in attack.
Ayew barely had an influence on the game in what was a quiet day for Ghana’s attack.
Despite playing as Ghana’s target man, the Crystal Palace forward ended the game without a shot on target, summarising his bad day at the office in Yaounde.
