Relegation Play-off

Nantes' dreams of returning to Europe are very much alive, then. PSG will get over this defeat quickly, but Les Canaris will remember this result for some time. That's all for now. Goodbye!
Nantes soar five places to fifth in Ligue 1 thanks to this win, just three points behind Strasbourg. They had 28 per cent possession all game but were incisive when they did have the ball. PSG stay top, 13 points clear of Marseille. They'll be more annoyed than anxious over this result, especially their first-half display.
Nantes have brought PSG's unbeaten away run in Ligue 1 to an end! Les Canaris were fantastic from start to finish, flying into a 3-0 lead in the first half with Lafont making a string of timely saves. It briefly felt like PSG could bring the hosts back to earth when Neymar pulled a goal back for them straight after half-time. The Brazilian fluffed the chance to make it 3-2 from the spot though, and Nantes were able to see the win out after that.
90' + 5' FULL-TIME: NANTES 3-1 PSG
90' + 4' Lafont's given something to do one last time as he darts off his line to clear Verratti's dangerous ball in. Kimpembe hands Nantes a welcome free-kick in midfield, and that's it!
Á. Di María
Yellow Card
90' + 3' Di Maria picks up a late yellow card as he tracks Traore's run and scythes the substitute down.
90' + 2' We've entered what will be four minutes of added time. The fans at Stade de la Beaujoire have started celebrating what is surely now a great Nantes victory.
A. Hakimi
Yellow Card
90' + 1' Before play restarts, Hakimi talks himself into the book after sharing his thoughts too strongly with the referee. PSG do not take losing kindly.
R. Pereira de Sa
L. Blas
90' + 1' Blas is the last of Nantes' players to make way. Pereira replaces him.
M. Coco
M. Simon
90' + 1' Simon gets an early rest too. Coco comes on to shore up Nantes' midfield.
C. Traoré
Q. Merlin
90' Merlin, who scored the best of Nantes' three goals, leaves the pitch to roars from the Nantes fans. Traore replaces him at left-back for added time, however long it will be.
89' Nantes have done a great job of lowering the temperature of the game in the last few minutes. They're about to make another change to help wind down the clock.
88' Nantes counter from their corner. Kolo Muani, the scorer of their opener, pulls off a few stepovers down the right but is stopped before he can break into PSG's box.
87' Blas keeps Navas on his toes, forcing the PSG keeper to make a routine save from outside the box. Up the other end, PSG win two corner. Nantes defend them both capably.
85' PSG are still looking for that second goal to make the last few minutes nervy ones for Nantes, but Lafont is still switched on. Nantes' keeper drops to save Draxler's low drive from the centre of the box. From the corner, Messi can't keep his left-footed shot in play from Marquinhos' flick-on.
K. Mbappé
Yellow Card
83' Mbappe's shown a yellow card for getting seen off by Corchia and tugging the wing-back down once he's already passed back to Lafont. PSG's self-confidence is unsavoury at times.
M. Icardi
I. Gueye
81' PSG make another substitution. It looks like they're going for it. Gueye goes off. Their Argentine forward Icardi comes on.
79' Merlin's inswinging free-kick doesn't trouble PSG too much, although the visitors are unable to counter. Nantes surge forward again and Blas heads over from Corchia's cross.
78' Nantes might be forgiven for thinking they have managed to ride out the storm. Mendes barges over Corchia as the Nantes wing-back heads for the corner flag.
76' It's another PSG corner. Marquinhos gets his head on the end of it and flicks it towards the back post, but none of his teammates can reach it. The PSG captain yells in reaction.
Nuno Mendes
Juan Bernat
74' Bernat heads off with a minor injury issue. Mendes takes his place at left-back for PSG.
A. Hakimi
T. Kehrer
74' Kehrer's game is over too. The PSG right-back really struggled with Simon in the first half. Hakimi takes his place there.
Á. Di María
74' Here come more PSG changes. Neymar trots off the pitch to boos from the home fans. Di Maria comes on.
73' How did Mbappe miss that?! Draxler picks out the Frenchman inside the six-yard box. He has just Lafont to beat, but leans back and blazes over from just a few yards out! Maybe this just isn't PSG's day.
71' PSG's corner isn't at all special. Navas nearly brings some panic back to the visitors' defending by missing a clearance outside his box. Thankfully for him a teammate spares his blushes.
69' Girotto hands PSG a corner, blocking Messi's deft shot from the right of the box. This second half has been predictably less frantic than the first.
S. Corchia
O. Bukari
67' Nantes respond by making a change of their own. Bukari goes off. Corchia is his replacement.
66' Castelletto fizzes the ball over the crossbar from the right of the box after receiving Bukari's knockdown. Nantes have recovered quickly since conceding that penalty kick to PSG.
J. Draxler
G. Wijnaldum
65' PSG make a change. Wijnaldum makes way first. No doubt he'll be disappointed to have given Blas his penalty. Draxler replaces him.
64' There's some activity in PSG's technical area. They've been better so far in this second half, but they need to improve further to salvage anything from this game.
62' PSG are starting to exert more control over the game but Nantes are still causing problems occasionally. Bukari's caught offside from Chirivella's pass.
60' Neymar has the offside flag go up against him as he goes for Marquinhos' throughball.
A. Lafont
Penalty Save
59' The Nantes fans greeted Lafont's save with an almighty cheer. That penalty was awful for a player of Neymar's quality, so it was an easy save for the keeper.
Penalty Miss
59' LAFONT SAVES NEYMAR'S PENALTY! The Brazilian stutters his run-up and swishes the ball straight into the Nantes' keeper's arms. There was no power on the hit at all. Mbappe pats his teammate on the back as if to say hard luck.
58' PENALTY FOR PSG! This is as clear cut as they come. Mbappe burst pasts Appiah to find himself one-on-one with Lafont. The PSG forward cannily checks onto his left foot, rightly expecting Appiah's challenge, and goes down. The referee kindly obliges by pointing to the spot.
56' PSG have a cutback from the byline intercepted. Now Nantes can break. Simon swings in a decent cross from the left and Kolo Muani somehow hits the ball into his own leg inside the six-yard box! PSG survive going another goal behind.
55' PSG's corner doesn't come to anything as Marquinhos heads high and wide. The visitors are still creating plenty of chances to test Lafont, but the longer Nantes can go without conceding again the more confident they will get.
54' Mbappe's sent racing into the right of the box by Neymar. Lafont is on hand to push the PSG forward's shot out for a corner.
53' Kimpembe clears as the ball comes too close to him in PSG's box for comfort. PSG are looking more determined now, but need to be careful not to let their frustration with being behind spill over.
52' PSG want a free-kick as Neymar is shrugged off on the edge of Nantes' box. The referee waves play on.
51' Nantes force another corner as Kolo Muani's cross from the byline is blocked. This one is less eventful.
Yellow Card
50' Neymar's booked for kicking the ball away in frustration after he unfairly challenges Bukari for a lost cause.
49' Nantes earn a corner that's conceded by Kehrer. Simon puts in a great ball that's headed narrowly over by Kolo Muani. There could be plenty more goals here.
L. Messi
47' Messi's pass for Neymar there was typically cute, and Neymar's finish was ruthless. You suspect PSG don't plan to mess around anymore.
47' GOAL! NANTES 3-1 PSG! Neymar breaks Nantes' resistance straight away! The Brazilian latches onto Messi's threaded pass into the box, cuts onto his right foot and slots past Lafont into the bottom left corner. Game on.
45' Nantes get the second half started. PSG haven't made a single change of personnel. Maybe they have in mentality.
Nantes have lost 18 of their last 20 encounters with PSG in Ligue 1. Any win for them would be a turn-up for the books, never mind one as potentially convincing as this. However, they've also conceded at least one goal to PSG in each of their last 21 league meetings, so this is by no means over. PSG have certainly had enough chances of their own for this game to be level, but for Lafont's heroics.
What a stunning 45 minutes of football! Nantes have raced to an incredible lead over Ligue 1's serial winners. Antoine Kombouare's side have caused PSG nightmares on the break, and have been helped by a great goalkeeping display by their captain Lafont. PSG must barely know what's hit them.
45' + 7' HALF-TIME: NANTES 3-0 PSG
L. Blas
Penalty Goal
45' + 6' GOAL! NANTES 3-0 PSG! Nantes fans must barely believe what they're seeing! Blas steps up and smashes the penalty straight at Navas. The PSG keeper gets a hand to it but it's too powerful for him to stop from nestling into the net. What a half Nantes have had!
G. Wijnaldum
Yellow Card
45' + 5' Wijnaldum is booked for handling the ball. PSG will be slightly aggrieved to have that decision given against them. The Dutchman was close to the header as it hit him, but his arm was out.
45' + 4' PENALTY FOR NANTES! Wijnaldum is judged to have handled Castelletto's header! Could Nantes cap off what has already been a fantastic half for them?
45' + 3' Nantes turn their corner into another one. Navas claims the loose ball this time and sends PSG on their way as Nantes appeal for handball. After a few seconds, the referee gets a whisper in his ear and decides to give Nantes' claim more of an airing...
45' + 2' The officials indicate a minimum of at least one added minute at the end of this half, which has already passed. PSG fluff their free-kick to cheers from the Nantes fans before Nantes go up the other end and win a corner.
D. Appiah
Yellow Card
45' NO RED CARD FOR NANTES! On second viewing, Pallois was close enough to Appiah to have potentially bailed his teammate out of trouble. The referee decides Mbappe didn't have an obvious goalscoring opportunity and reduces Appiah's red card to just a yellow one. Nantes breathe a sigh of relief.
44' RED CARD FOR NANTES! Nantes' 3-5-2 has caused PSG problems for this whole first half, but that might be about to change! Appiah is shown a straight red card for barging over Mbappe as the forward races through on goal. The contact takes place well outside the box. The referee is soon told to go take another look by VAR.
42' Nantes win possession and Simon takes on Marquinhos one-on-one. PSG's captain is well-placed to see the attack over and pass safely back to Navas.
40' Di Maria is warming up for PSG. Mbappe is back on but doesn't still look comfortable. Losing Mbappe would be another blow at the end of what has been a bruising half for the visitors.
39' Mbappe is helped to his feet and leaves the pitch gingerly to receive treatment. He looks to be in some discomfort.
M. Verratti
Yellow Card
38' Pallois slides in to deprive Mbappe as he runs towards Nantes' box, accidentally catching the PSG forward on the followthrough. Verratti's booked for his reaction to the incident.
37' Blas isn't too far from giving Nantes a three-goal lead! The midfielder goes from goal from way out and watches his shot dip just wide of the right-hand post. It briefly looked like it was going in.
35' PSG get caught way too far forward again and Kolo Muani gets picked in tons of space down the right. The forward jinks into the box before he's intercepted by Kimpembe. The PSG man tells one of his teammates in no uncertain terms to sort their act out.
34' PSG's corner is underwhelming and the offside flag goes up against them as they try to keep the pressure on following it.
33' Messi and Neymar eye the free-kick up. The Argentine decides to make a dummy run before the Brazilian clips it into Nantes' defensive wall. PSG get a corner, at least.
32' Castelletto comes across to stop Neymar's dribble inside the D right on the edge of the box. The referee is kind and doesn't show him a second yellow card.
31' PSG wisely play keep-ball for a while in an effort to slow the game down. It's been an extremely frantic opening half hour.
29' Now Navas is called into action to stop Nantes from making it 3-0! Simon wriggles loose in the box and goes for power with his left-footed shot. PSG's keeper successfully gets in the way to hand Nantes a corner.
27' Lafont is having an astonishing game. Mbappe sees off his marker and generously passes right to Neymar who fires straight at Nantes' shotstopper again. It's a tame effort, and one with more power might have gotten past him.
25' Nantes try to play their way out from the back but are closed down by PSG. Lafont makes another close-range save as Gueye smashes Messi's inviting throughball straight at him. Messis'f ollow-up shot is blocked. Nantes' captain and goalkeeper is earning his keep here.
24' Simon tries to hold off Kimpembe and is brought down by the PSG defender. Play's stopped as the Nantes man gets to his feet.
23' Pallois makes a timely tackle to steal the ball from Mbappe just as the World Cup winner is getting up to his frightening top speed down the right. Seconds later the centre-back safely chests a PSG cross to Lafont.
21' Nantes earn a free-kick in PSG's half. It's floated into the visitors' box and Navas claims the looping header.
19' Nantes are eviscerating PSG on the counter-attack! No sooner has Lafont stopped Mbappe's low shot does Simon burst down the left once more. This time the winger rolls the ball across the face of goal and Muani somehow prods wide with Navas stranded!
J. Castelletto
Yellow Card
18' Castelletto picks up the game's first yellow card for scything down Neymar as the Brazilian gets past him.
O. Bukari
16' Bukari didn't have to do very much at all there. He just laid off to Merlin who did the rest. That was magic from him! This is magic from Nantes!
Q. Merlin
16' GOAL! NANTES 2-0 PSG! This is an incredible start by Nantes! Merlin drives through the middle to carry his team forward but can't find the right pass. The hosts regain the ball and Bukari lays off to the wing-back on the edge of the box before he smashes a fantastic drive into the top left corner!
14' PSG are enjoying plenty of possession but Nantes are harrying them at every opportunity. Lafont claims Neymar's rogue throughball.
12' Nantes have started this game extremely well. Girotto sends a shot skidding towards the bottom right corner from distance, forcing Navas to dive low to save.
10' Kolo Muani has now been involved in Nantes’ last four goals against PSG in Ligue 1, scoring three times and notching one assist. He loves playing against the big boys.
8' Lafont makes another smart save to deny PSG, blocking Messi's drive after the Argentine takes a touch in the box. Nantes hurriedly clear.
6' PSG are awarded a free-kick as Pallois climbs over Messi in their half. Nantes look well up for this game.
M. Simon
4' That was incisive stuff from Nantes who cut PSG wide open! Simon used all his pace to create the chance then accurately found Kolo Muani to give the hosts a perfect start!
R. Kolo Muani
4' GOAL! NANTES 1-0 PSG! Nantes score from a lightning counter-attack down their left. Simon squares the ball into the box and Kolo Muani slots first-time past Navas into the far bottom corner.
3' PSG get an early chance! Neymar threads a throughball into the penalty area for Bernat who's scampered forward on the overlap. Lafont rushes off his line to prevent PSG's left-back from finding the bottom left corner.
1' We're underway here at a very foggy Stade de la Beaujoire!
Nantes' home form has picked up this season. Les Canaris have won six of their last nine league games at Stade de la Beaujoire, as many as they had in their previous 31. PSG are unbeaten in their last seven away games, but they have conceded at least one goal in their last six. If Nantes can resist the visitors' superior firepower, they might have a chance.
PSG make six changes to their team from their 1-0 victory over Madrid midweek. Navas steps into goal. Kehrer, Bernat, Wijnaldum, Gueye and Neymar all get the nod.
There's just one change to Nantes from their victory over Reims. Bukari replaces the injured Fabio at right wing-back.
SUBS: Mauro Icardi, Abdou Diallo, Danilo Pereira, Nuno Mendes, Julian Draxler, Achraf Hakimi, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Angel Di Maria, Ander Herrera.
PSG (4-3-3): Keylor Navas; Thilo Kehrer, Marquinhos (c), Presnel Kimpembe, Juan Bernat; Georginio Wijnaldum, Idrissa Gueye, Marco Verratti; Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Neymar.
SUBS: Charles Traore, Kalifa Coulibaly, Marcus Coco, Sebastien Corchia, Remy Descamps, Jean-Kevin Augustin, Willem Geubbels, Roli Pereira De Sa, Wylan Cyprien.
NANTES (3-4-3): Alban Lafont (c); Jean-Charles Castelletto, Dennis Appiah, Nicolas Pallois; Osman Bukari, Andrei Girotto, Pedro Chirivella, Quentin Merlin; Randal Kolo Muani, Ludovic Blas, Moses Simon.
PSG will be full of confidence after their midweek victory over Real Madrid in the Champions League and are coasting towards another Ligue 1 title. Having lost just once in their last 31 league games, they surely won't be caught in the title race but will be keen to see how quickly they can get over the line.
Nantes' positive season continues apace after Les Canaris picked up a 1-0 win here against Reims last time out. Only twice have Antoine Kombouare's men had more points at this stage of a Ligue 1 season since their last top-flight title in 2000/01. A few more good results would put them firmly into the fight to play in Europe next season.
Hello! Welcome to our live text commentary of this Ligue 1 match between Nantes and Paris Saint-Germain at Stade de la Beaujoire.
