Orlando Pirates XI vs AmaZulu: Mabaso starts, Mntambo missing from matchday squad

The South African was in goal and kept a clean sheet against Baroka FC and with the absence of Richard Ofori, the experienced stopper starts once again.

The former Maritzburg United star - who was replaced in the last game by Ishamel Mngonyama in the 46th minute - has maintained his position in the starting XI and will hope to keep the AmaZulu attackers at bay as they look to return to winning ways.

The full-back played the entirety against Baroka and has been trusted with a starting role again as Bucs face one of the supposed toughest challengers of the ongoing season.

It looks like the Pirates' technical bench has developed complete faith in Nyauza, who is yet again starting ahead of Thulani Hlatshwayo.

Ndah did not face LPRC Oilers in the Confederation Cup, featured against Baroka and has now been partnered with Nyauza once more at the heart of Pirates' defence as Happy Jele misses out.

The 30-year-old South African - who was yellow-carded in the 85th minute against Baroka - has been given another opportunity to get more minutes in the club's jersey as a starter.

A positive result will boost his confidence as he hopes to cement a place in the first team.

Mabaso has been included in the XI as Onassis Mntambo - who started and got replaced just after the hour mark by Kabelo Dlamini in the last game - is entirely missing from the matchday squad.

Makaringe scored the second goal against LPRC Oilers in the Confederation Cup and has another opportunity to perform well and silence the remaining critics.  He was replaced by Terrence  Dzvukamanja in their last goalless draw outing.

Makgaka was one of the players who played throughout against Baroka and has been maintained as a starter as Pirates visit AmaZulu.

Remained on the pitch for 77 minutes when they hosted Baroka before he was replaced by Boitumelo Radiopane.  

He has been deployed upfront and is expected to play a vital role in the goal-searching mission.

Failed to at least get a goal last time out in order to ease the pressure, the AmaZulu game is nonetheless another opportunity to fight and see him regain his scoring touch.
