It was a forgettable night for Orlando Pirates as they were soundly beaten 4-0 by Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Black Label Cup final at the FNB Stadium.
With a lot of players out injured and unavailable, it was a makeshift Pirates side which took to the park for the final. And it all fell apart for them when Tapelo Xoki was red-carded on 21 minutes before Downs struck with goals in the 24th, 33rd, 35th and 66th minutes.
Made a solid start but was then caught out with Sphelele Mkhulise's lob - instead of trying to catch it, he should have tipped the ball over. Wasn't much he could do about the other goals.
He was played out of position at right-back and two of the opening three goals came through that channel. Didn't offer much on attack either and was subbed.
A mixed night. Mako allowed Mkhulise to get away from him for the first goal although he recovered well to put in a brave performance and managed to make a goal-line clearance. Could, however, have done more to stop Downs' fourth goal.
His challenge on Haashim Domingo was very reckless as he clattered into the Sundowns player's ankle. He was rightly sent off - just 21 minutes into the game, and with that went Pirates' chances.
Mthethwa was converted from a central midfielder to a centre-back on the day and while he did well against Kaizer Chiefs in the semi-final, he struggled to cope in a makeshift central defence after Xoki's red card. Did show some good tenacity with a few important challenges.
One of Bucs' better performers, Motshwari fought hard in the engine room to try and limit the damage.
Timm has played a lot of high intensity football in recent months and after an understandably flat first half performance, having given his all earlier against Chiefs, it was no surprise he never made it out after the break - even if he hadn't done much wrong.
Only once did the Namibia look like threatening the Sundowns defence. He's been asked to defend a lot these days and it's not getting the best out of the former Bidvest Wits winger.
His radar was off when it came to passing and crossing and Dlamini was replaced at half time.
Wasn't perfect - made some mistakes, but Pule was the one Bucs player who actually tried to take the game to Sundowns. Put in a tireless shift and also wasn't scared to get stuck into tackles.
Made little impact and had a couple of poor touches before making an exit early in the second half.
Managed to help shore up the right back position after coming on for the second half.
Luckly not to have been sent off for a two-footed lunge on Themba Zwane.
Made an impact immediately after coming on around the hour mark, but wasn't able to sustain it.
Forced a save from Denis Onyango moments after coming on as a late sub.
