Liverpool vs Wolves Predictions: EPL Matchweek 7 Odds & Best Bets

13:32 BST 08/09/2022
Liverpool 2022-23
The Reds are looking to get back to winning ways and should have few problems against a struggling Wolves side at Anfield

Liverpool is coming off a thrilling 0-0 draw on the road against Everton in the Merseyside Derby. The Reds mustered 23 shot attempts with eight on target, but they weren't able to beat goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Wolves finally got their first win of the season at home against Southampton last week, getting a late first-half goal from Daniel Podence. This is a team that has had trouble scoring goals this season, which could be bad news at Anfield.

This will be the third game of the week for Liverpool following a mid-week Champions League fixture against Napoli. Perhaps we'll see a different starting eleven here, as manager Jürgen Klopp tries to keep his players fresh for the long run.

Wolves winger Chiquinho has proven to be a major absence from their attack, as the 22-year Portuguese international has been out with a knee injury suffered back in July. It's going to be tough for them to keep pace with the Reds here.

Will Liverpool bounce back following a disappointing draw against Everton? Or will Wolves do just enough to secure a point at Anfield?

Let’s take a look at the current betting odds to find some best bets and predictions for this Sept. 10 match.

Frank Ammirante’s 2022-2023 EPL Betting Record: 10-5 (+4.8 units)

Liverpool vs Wolves Odds

  • 3-Way Handicap: Liverpool (-385) | Draw (+500) | Wolves (+1000)
  • Draw No Bet: Liverpool (-1667) | Wolves (+750)
  • Over/Under Goals: Over 3.5 (+125) | Under 3.5 (-185)

Liverpool vs Everton odds are current as of Wednesday, Sept. 7, from BetMGM Sportsbook.

As expected, Liverpool are heavy favorites in this home fixture against a mediocre Wolves side. The 3.5-goal Total is heavily juiced toward the Under for good reason, as Wolves have had a tough time scoring goals so far this year.

As always, I'm not willing to lay such heavy juice on the moneyline or Over, so we'll look at other match props to find an edge in this spot.

Liverpool vs Wolves Betting Tips

Diogo Jota lurking for a big performance

The Reds got some great news against Everton, as striker Diogo Jota returned to the lineup, coming on in the 80th minute to try to give them a lift in a 0-0 game.

We can expect the Portuguese striker to get more playing time against Wolves as he returns to fitness.

Liverpool’s attack is back

The Reds suddenly have a lot of depth up front with Darwin Núñez returning from his two-game suspension. That gives Klopp the ability to bring on Roberto Firmino along with Jota off the bench.

There is no shortage of options here, which makes Liverpool much more dangerous moving forward. It will also help when Thiago Alcântara is ready to return.

Wolves haven’t kept up at Anfield

It's hard to envision a scenario where Wolves can keep pace with the Reds at Anfield, considering their challenges in scoring goals this season.

Wolves have only three goals in six matches this year, including one in their last two games. It'll be tough for them to stay in this one.

Liverpool vs Wolves Prediction

Liverpool 3-0 Wolves

I’m expecting Liverpool to come out flying at home in a match where they need to secure three points.

Look for the Reds to extend their unbeaten streak to four matches.

Liverpool vs Wolves Best Bets

➕ Wolves Team Total: Under 0.5 Goals (-120) at BetMGM Sportsbook

WAGER: 1 Unit

I was thinking of going with Both Teams Not to Score, but that comes in at (-143) odds. It's highly likely that Liverpool scores, so that's essentially the same as taking Wolves Under 0.5 goals.

We're getting much better value here at (-120).

➕ Match Handicap: Liverpool -1.5 (-141) at BetMGM

WAGER: 1 Unit

This one is a bit pricey at (-141) odds, but we'll roll with it considering the circumstances. Wolves can't score, and Liverpool are finally getting healthy. That's a bad combination in a game at Anfield.

It wouldn't shock me to see the Reds win this match by three or more goals.

➕ Mohamed Salah: Anytime Goal (-120) at BetMGM

WAGER: 1 Unit

Mohamed Salah has not scored in three consecutive EPL matches, so why not take him at a reasonable price at (-120)? This is a match where Liverpool should net at least two goals, so it's a good spot.

I'd rather go with Salah over Firmino or Jota because the latter two may come off the bench as substitutes.
