UEFA Champions League
UEFA Europa League
UEFA Conference League Qualifiers

That concludes our commentary of the LaLiga fixture between Real Betis and Barcelona! We hope you’ve enjoyed it!
Real Betis are back in action on Tuesday, when they travel to face Valencia. Barcelona return home on the same day to host Celta Vigo.
An incredible finish at the Benito Villamarin sees Barcelona edge their opponents 2-1, thanks to Alba’s last-minute winner! A tight affair after 75 minutes was turned on its head by Xavi’s substitutions, with Fati scoring to break the deadlock just 60 later - with his second touch of the ball after an Alba cross. Not to be denied, Real Betis would go up the other end and equalise just three minutes later when former Barcelona defender Bartra headed Fekir’s free-kick past Neto. Alba would be the late hero however, adding a goal to his earlier assist with a venomous volley from an Alves delivery to the far post in the 94th minute which left back-up goalkeeper Silva no chance! The late win inches Barca ever-closer to a second-place finish, while Real Betis remain three points back of Atletico ahead of their clash with Real Madrid tomorrow.
Dani Alves
90' + 4' One full-back assists another as Alves gets credit for creating the goal.
Jordi Alba
90' + 4' ALBA FINDS A LATE WINNER! 2-1 BARCELONA! It’s a dramatic finish at the Benito Villamarin as Betis fail to clear their lines after a Fati cross, with allows Alves to play the ball back towards the far post in the second-phase of the attack. Alba meets the delivery on the left wing with a thunderous volley that beats Silva high in the centre of his goal!
90' + 2' The fourth official indicates four minutes will be added to the end of the 90 for stoppages.
90' + 1' Aubameyang, Alves and Bartra all collide during an attempt to get on the end of a cross inside Betis’s penalty area - with the referee awarding the hosts the free-kick for obstruction.
89' Barcelona’s Aubameyang has scored seven goals in six away games in LaLiga, scoring those six goals from just 11 shots on target.
87' Alves delivers the Barcelona corner from the right but it’s cleared by Rodriguez before Betis’ organised advance forces Busquets back towards Neto.
85' Alba puts a cross into the box after a Silva giveaway near his own penalty area but Fati is unable to turn his volley towards goal - missing the target by some distance. His blushes are saved by the linesman’s flag however, with Alba deemed to have strayed offside in the build-up.
83' After winning three of his first four LaLiga home games against Barcelona (W1), Real Betis coach Pellegrini has lost his last six home games against them in the competition.
81' WHAT A CHANCE! Fekir’s corner from the left finds Pezzella, but his header across the face of goal is put too far ahead of the attacking Iglesias, who fails to turn the ball home despite a diving attempt!
Riqui Puig
80' Puig comes on for Gavi immediately after Barcelona concede the leveller.
N. Fekir
79' Fekir is again decisive, with his cross credited as the assist on Real Betis' equalising goal.
Marc Bartra
79' REAL BETIS STRIKE BACK IMMEDIATELY! 1-1! Fekir's lovely delivery from the Betis free-kick on the left finds the head of former Barcelona defender Bartra, who powers a header past Neto from close range!
Dani Alves
Yellow Card
78' Alves' cynical foul on Juanmi on the wing earns the Barcelona full-back a yellow card.
William Carvalho
77' Betis make two changes at once as Guardado is replaced by Carvalho.
Jordi Alba
76' Alba's accurate cross is the assist for Fati's go-ahead goal!
Ansu Fati
76' HIS IMPACT IS IMMEDIATE! 1-0 BARCELONA! To say Xavi’s substitution has worked would be an understatement, with Fati scoring with just his second touch of the match! The winger receives a cross on the edge of the 18-yard box before settling the ball and poking an accurate finish into the bottom corner!
Ansu Fati
Ferran Torres
75' Torres is recalled to the bench with Xavi looking to change the attack. Fati comes on in his place.
Adama Traoré
O. Dembélé
74' Traore comes on for Dembele with 16 minutes left in the match.
Marc Bartra
Yellow Card
72' Bartra’s sliding challenge on De Jong is worthy of a yellow card says Mateu Lahoz.
70' Barcelona work the ball well to the left wing where Alba puts a low cross towards the penalty spot but Bartra arrives ahead of Torres and clears the danger in the nick of time.
68' Juanmi gets beyond the last defender and bursts into the penalty area but a poor shot with his left rolls far too comfortably into the arms of a stooping Neto.
P. Aubameyang
M. Depay
66' Barcelona’s first switch of the match is an attacking one, as Aubameyang comes on to replace Depay.
Sergio Busquets
Yellow Card
64' Busquets' mistimed tackle on Guardado earns the Barcelona captain the first yellow card of the match.
64' GREAT STOP! A tremendous switch of play from Sabaly finds Moreno free down the left flank with acres of space to move into. A lovely cross into the penalty area finds Juanmi but the close-range volleyed effort from the winger is blocked by Neto expertly!
62' Guardado hits a switch of play for Iglesias looking to take advantage of Alba’s injury but Depay and Gavi converge to squeeze Sabaly off the ball and win back possession inside the Barcelona penalty area.
60' Lenglet has taken his training top off in anticipation of a substitution but it appears as though Alba wants to try and run off the injury and stave off an enforced change.
58' Alba attempts to block the path of Canales down the flank, which has left both players on the ground in some pain. The Barcelona defender seems to have come off worse as he clutches at his lower back, with the trainers on immediately to tend to him.
56' Depay works a corner short with Alba but the forward fails to keep onside as he latches onto the pass from the full-back, giving Real Betis a free-kick to clear their lines.
54' Dembele drives forward with his trademark pace after a long kick from Neto but his right-footed shot can only catch the side netting - failing to force the goalkeeper into a save.
52' Real Betis' home win rate against Barcelona in LaLiga (29% - W16 D14 L25) is the lowest for the Verdiblancos against any opponent they have faced at least five times in the competition.
50' Again Iglesias falls to the turf in front of match official Mateu Lahoz after a physical battle with Araujo but again the referee is happy to allow play to continue with Barcelona on the ball.
48' A pass back from Pezzella immediately puts Silva under pressure, with Barcelona pressing the Real Betis goalkeeper 10 yards from his own goal. The co-ordinated move from the visitors forces the goalkeeper into a poor kick but Dembele’s miscontrol on the flank lets it go out for a Betis throw - much to the delight of Silva.
46' Real Betis get the match restarted from the kick-off!
With 45 minutes to find the necessary go-ahead goal, Pellegrini will be forced to open his side up ever-more as the match goes on. An early enforced change at goalkeeper will somewhat hamstring the Real Betis coach, but there is still more than enough attacking talent available to make the difference. Former Barcelona winger Tello as well as Jose could change the match, while Barcelona will look to keep everything tight and organised before hitting with a switch of play. Fati could make an appearance on the flank as well as Traore, to stretch the full-backs and penetrate gaps late.
An entertaining first half at the Benito Villamarin comes to a close with neither side able to break the deadlock. The hosts came out of the blocks quicker, looking to press forward at every opportunity in search of a necessary win, while Barcelona looked to control the tempo and link passes together in midfield. Both styles produced quality chances, with Rodriguez finding the frame of the goal with a shot from distance, and substitute goalkeeper Silva forced into a tremendous save on an Araujo header. Despite the opportunities however - the result is still up for grabs in the second half.
45' + 2' Alba’s cross into the 18-yard box from a position on the inside-left is put too short for Torres - allowing Silva to claim the ball with a diving catch.
45' The fourth official indicates three minutes will be added to the end of the half for stoppages.
43' Alba receives a pass from Alves and puts a cross into the box with his left looking for Torres but Bartra comes across to nod it out for a throw-in.
41' Dembele’s corner from the right is cleared easily by Pezzella, whose header takes it into the centre-circle.
39' With just over five minutes left in the first half, the result is still up for grabs. Both sides have come close to opening the scoring but the two backup goalkeepers have held strong, keeping clean sheets with a little help from the woodwork.
37' Juanmi drives to the byline on the left wing where he’s met by Alves - who leans into the forward as the ball crosses the line, sending the Real Betis player into the advertising hoardings. The referee is happy with the contact as Neto is allowed to collect for a goal-kick.
35' Alves hooks a cross into the penalty area from a central position looking for Torres but Pezzella has him covered, rising high to nod away the danger.
33' Silva is called into another great save, stretching across his line to palm away a curling Depay shot from 20 yards out.
31' A round of applause goes up around the Benito Villamarin for Fekir, who tracks back to the right-back position in order to win the ball before keeping it in play with a lovely roulette. The Real Betis side know they need a win in this match and it’s being shown on the pitch with a hard-working display.
29' OFF THE POST! INCREDIBLE! Guardado lifts a pass into the penalty area for Canales, who controls the ball well with his back to goal ahead of Araujo. The winger lays the ball back to the edge of the 18-yard box for Rodriguez, whose shot to the far post smacks off the base of the woodwork!
27' Barcelona lost 0-1 against Real Betis in the reverse fixture earlier this season; they have never lost both league matches in a top-flight campaign against Real Betis.
25' Neto’s launched throw after a failed Betis free-kick sets Depay away on a counter-attack. He manages to beat Sabaly on his way to the penalty area but Bartra comes across expertly to squeeze the space ahead of the forward before winning possession back.
23' Depay uses his fancy footwork to get past Sabaly and Guardado inside the penalty area but again the Netherlands international is unable to keep the ball in play, letting it roll behind somewhat carelessly.
22' Depay stands over a free-kick on the left-hand side but his curling effort sails over the heads of his team-mates and behind directly for a goal-kick.
20' PHENOMENAL SAVE! WHAT A WAY TO START! Depay whips a strong outswinging corner into the penalty area for Araujo, who leaps to hammer a header towards goal. Silva’s reflexes are impeccable however, as the goalkeeper reaches up to palm the ball off the crossbar before recovering the rebound!
18' Fekir’s corner is worth the wait as he delivers a cross directly to the head of Pezzella, who sends his powerful effort right into the arms of Neto.
Rui Silva
C. Bravo
17' Bravo is unable to continue as he limps to the touchline, to be replaced by Silva.
16' Play is stopped ahead of the corner for Bravo, who has gone down off the ball. The medical staff have come onto the pitch to tend to the goalkeeper as Silva prepares himself on the bench.
14' Guardado’s lovely switch of play finds Sabaly open on the right wing. After taking a touch the full-back plays Canales into the penalty area but the ensuing shot is blocked for a corner.
12' Dembele skips past two defenders on the right wing before delivering another great cross. This time however, Bravo is alert to the danger and comes off his line to punch the ball away.
10' Dembele whips a fantastic cross into the penalty area but Torres is a step behind the delivery, failing to reach the ball six yards from goal. All it needed was a touch to direct it towards goal but Bravo is able to breathe a sigh of relief before taking a goal-kick.
8' Barcelona work a corner short but Depay’s eventual cross to the far post is cleaned up easily by a well-placed Rodriguez.
7' CLOSE! Juanmi drives down the left flank, getting the better of Alves as he latches onto Iglesias’ leading pass but the winger’s chipped finish fails to hit the target from close range.
5' Pezzella attempts an audacious shot from inside his own half after spotting Neto off his line but the shot drops comfortably for the goalkeeper, who catches it cleanly.
3' Garcia launches a pass long for Alba, who manages to get on the end of the ball near the corner flag. The full-back finds Depay with a little flick but the forward is unable to do anything in possession as it rolls behind for a goal-kick.
1' Barcelona get the match underway from the kick-off!
Barcelona make three alterations from the XI that beat Mallorca 2-1 last Sunday. Marc-Andre Ter Stegen is out with illness, giving Neto a chance to start between the posts while Gerard Pique’s injury provides Garcia an opportunity at centre-back. The final change is tactical, with Dembele playing ahead of Aubameyang.
Real Betis make three changes from their 0-0 draw with Getafe on May 2. Bartra replaces Ruiz at centre-back while Ruibal is dropped for Guardado - pushing Canales onto the right wing. The final switch is on the left, where Juanmi is preferred to Tello.
BARCELONA SUBS: Oscar Mingueza, Clement Lenglet, Riqui Puig, Arnau Tenas, Samuel Umtiti, Adama Traore, Ansu Fati, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Luuk De Jong, Martin Braithwaite.
BARCELONA XI (4-3-3): Neto; Dani Alves, Ronald Araujo, Eric Garcia, Jordi Alba; Frenkie De Jong, Sergio Busquets, Gavi; Ousmane Dembele, Ferran Torres, Memphis Depay.
REAL BETIS SUBS: Rodrigo Sanchez, Rui Silva, Juan Miranda, Victor Ruiz, Aitor Ruibal, William Carvalho, Cristian Tello, Willian Jose, Edgar Gonzalez, Joaquin, Paul Akoukou.
REAL BETIS XI (4-2-3-1): Claudio Bravo; Alex Moreno, Marc Bartra, German Pezzella, Youssouf Sabaly; Andres Guardado, Guido Rodriguez; Juanmi, Nabil Fekir, Sergio Canales; Borja Iglesias.
With 15 minutes to go before kick-off, let’s take a look at how the two sides are lining up - starting with our hosts!
Eight points above today’s opponents, Barcelona can guarantee themselves a top-four finish with a win at the Benito Villamarin - where they’ve won their last two encounters 3-2. Recent form has been patchy for Xavi’s side with the Blaugrana alternating wins and losses in their last five games; winning last weekend’s affair 2-1 over Mallorca.
With just four games to go, Real Betis are running out of time to try and secure a place in next season’s Champions League. The Copa del Rey winners have already locked up a Europa League spot but with just three points separating themselves from fourth-place Atletico Madrid, Manuel Pellegrini still has cause to believe he can bring Joaquin along for one final swansong in Europe’s elite competition.
