Italy will have to trust their young players as they look to preserve their unbeaten start to the campaign

Italy hope to preserve their place at the top of their UEFA Nations League group when they visit Germany on Tuesday.

The Azzurri have a weak hold on top spot, however, as they sit just one point above Hungary and two ahead of this week's opponents.

Germany are looking for their first win of the campaign, having drawn 1-1 in all three of their games so far.

Germany vs Italy latest odds

Despite their slow start to this Nations League campaign, Germany are big favourites to get the win at 7/10 (1.7).

The visitors are 4/1 (5.0) to keep their place at the top of the table with a win, while the draw is available at 14/5 (3.8).

Germany vs Italy first goal scorer

Timo Werner is on a four-game goalless run for Germany, but he is the favourite to get the first goal against Italy at 5/1 (6.0) while team-mate Leroy Sane is 11/2 (6.5).

Italy winger Alessio Zerbin, who is searching for his first goal for his country, and Torino star Andrea Belotti are the lowest-priced Azzurri players to break the deadlock at 10/1 (11.0).

Germany vs Italy preview

Italy coach Roberto Mancini has made major changes to the squad for the current run of Nations League matches.

Many fresh young faces have been called up to rejuvenate the squad, while several established stars had to pull out due to injuries.

Mancini is confident in the rising stars representing his team, telling reporters: "The youngsters have shown character, I was impressed.

"It looked like they had been playing together for longer. We've done some good work, but there's a long way to go still. We will see fresh legs tomorrow, it's the last game of this series and it won't be easy."

Germany, meanwhile, may be without Serge Gnabry for this clash, while Nico Schlotterbeck is suspended.

Hansi Flick will be able to call on many more experienced players than his Italian counterpart, and visiting forward Giacomo Raspadori has admitted that his side are weaker than Germany.

“You could say they are stronger than us, many players have more experience than us," he said.

"They have played many more international games together. So I’d say they’re superior, but in football you have to go out on the pitch and prove it.”

Germany vs Italy tips and predictions

There have been under 2.5 goals in all of Germany's Nations League matches, including the 1-1 draw against the same opponents last week. That bet is 10/11 (1.91) to pay off on Tuesday.
