That's all for today, goodbye!
The slower tempo of the second half favoured Basel and they capitilised on the break. Fiorentina will be very disappointed after such a dominant first period, but there is still all to play for in the second leg. Before the return leg next week, Italiano's Viola face Udinese in the league while the Swiss side play St. Gallen.
Fiorentina began the first half on the front foot and took advantage of their quick start in the 25th minute. Cabral scored against his former side as he flicked the ball past Hitz following a well-worked corner. The hosts continued to dominate proceedings but could not find another goal. Basel did have the ball in the back of the net, however Augustin did not celebrate as he knew Amdouni was offside in the build-up. Terracciano was forced into a good diving save by Diouf too, but Italiano's men led 1-0 at the break. The visitors were far better and braver with their attacking play, and they were rewarded for their efforts.
