Commentary

Thanks for following today's coverage of Atletico Madrid v Leganes. Goodbye.
Atletico continue their poor run of form and are still without a win in 2020. Simeone's side fail to take advantage of their game in hand and move above Sevilla into third place and remain in fourth. Leganes will happily take their first point away from home to Atletico as they move off the bottom of LaLiga into 19th above Espanyol. Atletico face a tough derby match up next week against city rivals Real Madrid, whilst Leganes turn their attention to Copa del Rey action against Barcelona in midweek.
A really poor performance from Atletico Madrid who should've won that game. Leganes were comfortable throughout the game, defended solidly and deserved their first point earned at the Wanda Metropolitano since being promoted to LaLiga. Ridiculous scenes at the end of the match with Cuellar being sent off for timewasting and then taking an age to exit the pitch causing Atletico players to fume at the goalkeeper. A draw was a fair result based on the performance of both sides.
90' + 8' FULL-TIME: Atletico Madrid 0-0 Leganes
S. Savić
Yellow Card
90' + 6' Savic is booked for reacting to Cuellar's delayed exit from the pitch.
90' + 4' Ridiculous scenes at the end of this match. The referee has lost complete control over this with 30 seconds to go. Cuellar is still on the pitch whilst officials explain the decision to both managers.
90' + 3' Leganes goalkeeper Cuellar is sent off for a second yellow card after being deemed to waste time by the referee. Silva takes the gloves and will finish the game as goalkeeper!
Recio
Yellow Card
90' + 2' Recio stops a counter attack by Saul and gets a booking for his troubles.
90' + 1' Morata heads over the bar after he's left unmarked in the box. He should have done a lot better there.
90' Four minutes of added time. Atletico have woken up a little bit in the last few minutes as they search for a late winner.
Óscar Rodríguez
M. Braithwaite
90' Braithwaite makes way for Oscar in the final few minutes.
Roque Mesa
Yellow Card
89' Mesa goes into the book after a foul on Herrera for a raised boot.
I. Šaponjić
Š. Vrsaljko
88' Vrsaljko is replaced by Saponjic on his return from injury. Atletico have made all three changes now.
87' Partey lays the ball off to Saul but his shot is deflected wide.
87' Vitolo wins a freekick right on the edge of the penalty box. A great position for Atletico to test the goalkeeper.
86' Herrera has an attempt at goal from the corner of the Leganes box but it's easily dealt with by Cuellar.
85' Five minutes to go in Madrid. Can the home side find a winner late on? It doesn't look likely.
83' Mesa dives in to a tackle from behind Lodi when the ball was rolling out for a throw in. That's a needless foul to give away from the Spanish midfielder.
81' The corner is whipped in but Felipe's header is off target.
80' Morata wins a corner for his side after some good hold up play by the Spaniard.
G. Carrillo
Kévin Rodrigues
78' Rodrigues is replaced by Carrillo as we enter the last 15 minutes of the match.
Iván Cuéllar
Yellow Card
76' Leganes goalkeeper Cuellar picks up a booking for dissent as he argues with the referee.
76' Atletico are screaming for a penalty after Bustinza slides in on Vitolo with the Spaniard falling to the floor quite theatrically. No penalty given.
74' Joao Felix releases Saul down the right but Cuellar is aware of the danger and races out of his goal to clear the ball high into the stands.
72' Atletico Madrid have conceded a league-high ratio 42% of their goals from outside the box in LaLiga this season (6/14). Leganes have had 3 shots on target from outside the box in this game.
70' Atletico find themselves in the Leganes half for the first time in around 10 minutes. Vitolo tries to break down the left but he's crowded out and his pass is wayward.
68' A sense of nerves around the stadium as we enter the last 20 minutes of this match. Leganes looking to put some pressure on Atletico Madrid now.
66' SO CLOSE FOR LEGANES! Ruibal does well to get down the right wing, whips a ball into Braithwaite who leaves it and Recio shoots from distant but his deflected shot whistles just over the crossbar. That's a massive let off for the home side.
64' Rodrigues lines up a shot from distance after finding space between Atletico's midfield and defence. His shot is well saved by Oblak.
H. Herrera
Á. Correa
62' Simeone decides Correa's time in this game is up and opts to bring on Herrera into midfield.
Aitor Ruibal
Eraso
61' A change for Leganes as Ruibal replaces Eraso who was on a booking.
60' Partey does well to intercept a cross from Rodrigues as Leganes got in behind the home side's defence.
58' Chidozie with a series of good clearances as Atletico look to up the tempo of the match and create some more chances.
56' Cuellar has become the villain of this match. Atletico fans howling at him to hurry up whilst he prepares to take a goal kick.
Eraso
Yellow Card
54' Eraso attempts to win a 50-50 tackle against Lodi but he's late on the defender and catches Lodi.
53' Mesa is lucky to escape a booking after his flailing arm catches Correa.
51' Leganes win a corner. Rodrigues whips the ball in but it finds no one in a blue and white shirt before an offside is called.
50' Atletico really aren't creating much and prefer to just pump long balls forward in the hope Morata can flick the ball on to a runner. Leganes looking comfortable so far.
49' Leganes win a series of throws up the pitch and find themselves on the edge of Atletico's box but a shot from Mesa goes out for a goal kick.
47' Vitolo is played in behind by Joao Felix but Leganes defenders swarm around the substitute and clear the ball. A good reaction from the home side.
46' We're underway for the second half in Madrid.
Vitolo
Marcos Llorente
46' Simeone makes a change at the break, replacing Llorente for Vitolo which will see Saul move into a more central position.
As it stands, Atletico will stay fourth in LaLiga whilst Leganes will pick up their first point away to Simeone's side and move above Espanyol into 19th.
A very even first half in Madrid. Leganes threatened briefly and have defended well so far, keeping a solid shape making it hard for the home side to find any space for Joao Felix or Morata. Atletico Madrid need to improve drastically. Morata with the best chance but his volley was well saved by Cuellar. If you didn't know which team was which, you could be mistaken for thinking Atletico are the side bottom of the league.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: Atletico Madrid 0-0 Leganes
45' + 1' Lodi and Joao Felix work the ball well down the left but the cross into the box is easy for Cuellar to collect.
45' Two minutes added at the end of a dull first half by all accounts.
44' Joao Felix needs to be careful. He's starting to look frustrated and committing a fair amount of fouls in the last five minutes of the half.
42' Joao Felix goes down under a challenge but isn't deemed to have been fouled by the referee. The attacker then kicks out and fouls Mesa. A bit cynical that from the teenager.
41' Good build-up play from Leganes ends with a header across goal from Silva being collected by Oblak as Braithwaite couldn't get onto the end of the cross.
39' Correa is down needing treatment after a strong tackle by Chidozie leaves the attacker on the floor. Chidozie needs to be careful having already been booked.
37' ANOTHER SAVE! Cuellar is forced into action yet again this time as Llorente has an effort on goal but it's well held by the goalkeeper.
34' CLOSE! Morata hits a volley at Cuellar after a good break from the home side.
32' Joao Felix picks the ball up around the edge of the Leganes box but he's swarmed and dispossessed quickly. The striker looks frustrated at not having any options to pass to.
29' Atletico still looking to break down the visitors. Morata moves into the channel but fails to control the ball as it runs out for a goal kick.
27' Lodi breaks forward and loses the ball. He recovers from a foul and then goes down yet again but the referee is having none of it. Leganes keep possession and look to build another attack.
25' Atletico have only scored 22 goals this season, the lowest in LaLiga's top six - compared to Barcelona who have scored 38 and Real Madrid scoring 50.
23' OVER THE BAR! A good cross from Lodi falls to Correa who has all the time in the world but his volleyed effort flies high over the crossbar. He had to get that shot on target at least.
21' Leganes will be over the moon with how they've started this game. Confident on the ball, solid in their shape and defending and still a threat on the counter. This could be a real test for Atletico.
19' Leganes win a throw in near their penalty box after Joao Felix and Saul combine but can't get past Omeruo.
17' Morata is called for an offside as Atletico look to threaten the Leganes goal for the first time.
15' Atletico have had all the possession but Leganes have had the best two chances of the game so far. Atletico need to tighten up and get Joao Felix and Morata into the game more if they're to threaten this defensive Leganes side.
13' SAVE! Captain Oblak to the rescue yet again as Braithwaite finds time and space in the box to get a shot on target, but the Atleti man does well to save with his foot.
C. Awaziem
Yellow Card
11' A poor tackle from the Leganes defender on Joao Felix after a nice bit of skill from the Portuguese striker almost had him through on goal.
11' CLOSE! Oblak is forced into a great save down to his left after Recio drills a shot from 25 yards.
10' The corner comes to nothing and Leganes look to build an attack using their wing backs.
9' Morata wins his team a corner after pressuring Omeruo into a poor clearance.
7' The home side are dominating the early possession as expected with Leganes keeping their shape and defending well.
5' Atletico knocking the ball around with confidence in the early stages. The home side are without Kieran Trippier and Koke today after they failed a fitness test. Both should return for next week's derby against Real Madrid.
3' An early scare for Leganes with Rodrigues down receiving medical treatment for a head injury. The midfielder is back on his feet looking a little bit dazed, but he's ready to continue.
2' Almost an own-goal as Felipe chests the ball past Oblak but the Brazillian has it under control and clears well.
1' Atletico get us underway.
1' Vrsaljko whips a cross into the box but it's dealt with comfortably by Omeruo. Cuellar being whistled at by the home fans for taking a bit of time with his goal kicks.
The players are in the tunnel as we approach kick-off at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Correa has been directly involved in eight goals in his last eight appearances, scoring five and assisting three. The Argentinian could be the key for Atletico to turn their poor form around, starting today.
Leganes manager Javier Aguirre also makes six changes with Cuellar returning between the sticks. Carillo, Tarin, Ruibal, Ruben Perez and Aymane are all replaced by Recio, Mesa, Rodrigues, Omeruo and Awaziem. Leganes have never scored away from home against Atletico Madrid since being promoted to LaLiga in 2016. Could that change today with the home side looking unrecognisable so far this year?
Diego Simeone makes six changes from the defeat to Cultural Leonesa as he looks to end the run of poor form for his side after three straight defeats in all competitions. Oblak is restored in goal. Vrsaljko, Savic and Lodi come into the defence as Hermoso and Manuel Sanchez drop to the bench. Vitolo and Herrera are replaced by Partey with Correa dropping back to the wing, as Morata starts at striker alongside Portuguese wonderkid Joao Felix.
SUBS: Marc Navarro, Juan Soriano, Rodrigo Tarin, Guido Carrillo, Aitor Ruibal, Oscar Rodriguez Arnaiz, Mourid Aymane.
LEGANES XI (5-4-1): Ivan Cuellar; Roberto Rosales, Unai Bustinza, Kenneth Omeruo, Chidozie Awaziem, Jonathan Silva; Javi Eraso, Recio, Roque Mesa, Kevin Rodrigues; Martin Braithwaite.
SUBS: Antonio Adan, Hector Herrera, Ivan Saponjic, Vitolo, Mario Hermoso, Rodrigo Riquelme, Manuel Sanchez.
ATLETICO MADRID XI (4-4-2): Jan Oblak; Sime Vrsaljko, Felipe, Stefan Savic, Renan Lodi; Angel Correa, Marcos Llorente, Thomas Partey, Saul Niguez; Joao Felix, Alvaro Morata.
Atletico Madrid could move back into third position today with a win, as they look to bounce back from their shock exit in the Copa del Rey round of 32 in midweek. Meanwhile, Leganes are still looking for a first away win all season, the visitors currently sit bottom of the league taking just 14 points from 20 games.
