UEFA Champions League
UEFA Europa League
UEFA Conference League Qualifiers

Athletic can go into their final four games full of hope for next season, then. Atletico have got work to do to make sure they don't drop into the Europa League places. That's all for now. Goodbye!
Athletic stay eighth in LaLiga after their victory. However, it has helped them reel in Villarreal in seventh. They're just a point behind the Yellow Submarine now. Atletico stay fourth, having lost three away games in a row to Basque sides in LaLiga for the first time since 2005. Their participation in the Champions League next season is by no means certain yet, especially if they keep playing like this.
Athletic have strengthened their chances of playing in Europe next season after easily dispatching Atletico! Marcelino's men strolled to victory with a goal in each half, inspired by the lively Inaki Williams. Barring a brief spell either side of half-time, Atletico weren't up to much. They deservedly head home with nothing.
90' + 4' Atletico are still trying their best to pull a goal back, but it feels unlikely. Simeone scratches his head in the technical area.
90' + 2' Athletic's fans are cheering every pass their team is making now. That might be a little premature though, as Correa's deflected shot from range wrong-foots Simon and bounces back into play off the left-hand post!
Álex Berenguer
Yellow Card
90' + 1' Berenguer picks up a late yellow card for a reckless offence. Athletic are almost over the line.
90' There'll be six minutes of added time. There could be many more and it would still feel like Athletic will win. Vencedor gets a header off from the centre of the box. Oblak saves it easily.
89' Balenziaga takes Yuri's place on the left side of Athletic's defence.
Dani Vivian
Raúl García
88' Athletic bring on some fresh legs with the game looking well won at this point. Vivian replaces Raul Garcia.
87' Atletico have looked out of sorts here. Simeone's men haven't had a shot on target yet in this second half. That's been down to Athletic's excellent effort too, of course.
85' Chance for Atletico! Correa takes down De Paul's cross from the left and has the space to hook it over the crossbar. There's a hint of offside about it, but it doesn't matter.
83' Simon races out of his goal to beat Correa to a throughball. Atletico have been short of ideas all game.
81' Cunha gets a foul out of Alvarez who challenges him too forcefully for the ball. Athletic are successfully shutting this game down.
79' Gimenez wins a free-kick in Athletic's half after some dangerous play by Raul Garcia. It doesn't lead to much for the visitors.
Álex Berenguer
Iñaki Williams
77' Inaki Williams' time on the pitch is up, but he's had a fantastic game for Athletic, having a hand in both of their goals. Berenguer replaces him.
76' Muniain takes Athletic's latest corner. Alvarez gets his head on the end of it and nods wide to the left.
Unai Vencedor
Dani García
75' Dani Garcia gets an early rest too. Vencedor comes on in midfield for Athletic.
Oier Zarraga
Nico Williams
75' Nico Williams walks off to warm applause. Zarraga takes his place on the pitch for Athletic.
74' Athletic force Koke into handing them another corner. This game's been more balanced than the scoreline suggests, but Atletico have done little since the hosts' second goal.
73' Nico Williams goes down with cramp and receives some help from Lodi and the physios. The Athletic winger's race may be run. It's been a lot of running he has done here too.
72' Williams chests a cross down to the right of the box, swivels and shoots straight at Oblak who pushes the shot onto the post. It rebounds off the crossbar and back into play. Williams is offside anyway.
Renan Lodi
Yellow Card
71' Lodi unfairly stops the run of Nico Williams down the right. The referee shows him the yellow card.
Š. Vrsaljko
L. Suárez
70' Atletico make their last permitted substitution. The anonymous Suarez goes off. Vrsaljko replaces him.
Iñaki Williams
Yellow Card
68' Inaki Williams picks up a yellow card for a tactical foul. The forward's been at the heart of Athletic's good performance so far.
66' Athletic almost make it 3-0! Muniain goes for goal from outside the box and Oblak stops him from finding the top right corner. Inaki Williams latches onto the rebound and goes for the opposite top corner, but the Atletico goalkeeper is equal to that effort too.
Matheus Cunha
Y. Carrasco
65' Carrasco is last to go off for Atletico. This isn't a straight swap like the previous two. Cunha, a striker, comes on. It looks like Atletico are switching to a 4-2-4!
R. De Paul
G. Kondogbia
65' Kondogbia is next to make way as Atletico freshen things up. De Paul is his replacement.
H. Herrera
65' Atletico are making three changes. Herrera's sacrificed first. Koke replaces him.
63' Atletico take the corner short, as Carrasco plays a one-two with Lodi to power towards the centre of the pitch. Athletic stand their ground.
62' Atletico deal with the corner but they need to improve quickly. Alvarez hands the visiting team a corner.
61' Inaki Williams gets loose down the left and goes up against Gimenez. Gimenez successfully stands his ground to block the Athletic forward's cross. Athletic have a corner, and the wind in their sails.
59' The lights have come back on! They're not quite out for Atletico yet, but they've got a big half hour ahead. They're preparing several changes in the dugout.
57' Play's been stopped as all the floodlights at San Mames have suddenly gone out. The Athletic fans have lit up their phones and are making an impressive racket.
Iñaki Williams
Penalty Goal
56' GOAL! ATHLETIC BILBAO 2-0 ATLETICO MADRID! Inaki Williams coolly dispatches the penalty, lofting it straight down the middle once Oblak has decided which way he wants to dive. Athletic suddenly look much more comfortable.
54' PENALTY TO ATHLETIC! Lodi's lax pass at the back leaves Herrera in trouble and Muniain reaches the ball first, forcing the Mexican to bring him down! Inaki Williams slots the loose ball into the net but the referee has already pointed to the spot!
53' Muniain fires the corner in. Martinez flicks it on to Vesga who fires over from the centre of the box.
52' Lodi makes a well-timed challenge to deprive Nico Williams of the ball. Athletic take the throw-in quickly and Williams tempts Carrasco into conceding a corner.
51' Griezmann rattles the crossbar with his free-kick! The Frenchman lashes his effort towards goal. It beats Simon but not the woodwork! Atletico's momentum is growing.
50' Correa's clever dummy draws Martinez into fouling him on the edge of the Athletic box. Griezmann is eyeing this free-kick up.
48' Llorente has his cross from the right blocked by Yuri. Muniain clears Carrasco's follow-up attempt.
47' Atletico get the second half going. Let's see how their half-time substitution changes things.
Á. Correa
46' Atletico make an offensive change at half-time. The booked Reinildo goes off. Correa comes on. Lodi has dropped into the back four, while Carrasco has moved to his usual left-wing position.
Athletic have no need to worry just yet, as they're not in the habit of giving away leads easily. They're unbeaten in their last 19 matches in LaLiga when leading at half-time, dating back to July 2020. Atletico need to force the issue in the second half, but that could leave them exposed at the back. The next goal, if there is one, will be crucial.
Athletic may have the lead, but Atletico might be the happier side at the break. Athletic started this match with typical fury and went 1-0 up through Hermoso's own goal. As the first half went on, though, Atletico improved, changing system and causing the hosts more problems. The Basques may have to adapt if they want to hang onto their lead.
45' + 1' There'll be one additional minute in this first half. Carrasco cuts into the box onto his left foot and has a shot deflected out for a corner. Simon catches Gimenez's off-balance header. That's all for now.
45' Griezmann heads Llorente's hopeful cross down into the ground. It bounces up kindly for Simon to catch.
44' Muniain's delivery is flicked on and over the crossbar by Alvarez.
43' Atletico have changed to a 4-4-2 formation now which is helping them control the game better. Athletic still manage to win another corner down their right.
42' Muniain plays the corner into the box. Two Atletico players wind up on the floor. The visitors are given the decision by the referee.
41' Inaki Williams darts down the right-hand channel and fires a low cross into the penalty area. Oblak fumbles the cross to give Athletic a corner.
39' Raul Garcia goes to ground to bring down Hermoso. Atletico are awarded a free-kick. Marcelino looks concerned with his hands in his pockets.
37' Herrera's cross-cum-shot from deep is caught easily by Simon. Atletico try again. Llorente finds Kondogbia inside the D who lashes wide. Simeone applauds his players' effort. That's as close as Atletico have come to scoring.
35' Inaki Williams fires a triangular pass towards the byline in the hope that Muniain can reach it. He can't, as Oblak gathers it first.
33' Reinildo can't quite feed a pass through to Lodi. Nico Williams tries to break down the right but is unable to shake off his marker.
31' Atletico are starting to find a foothold in the match. Griezmann chests down Reinildo's long ball, and Suarez latches onto it to fire a tame effort straight at Simon from distance.
29' Carrasco finds himself in space down the right and crosses towards Lodi at the far post. Atletico's left wing-back can't control his header.
27' Kondogbia unfairly halts the run of Yuri. Athletic just keep piling the pressure on Atletico.
Dani García
Yellow Card
25' Dani Garcia's booked for hauling Herrera down to abort Atletico's counter-attack.
25' Llorente gives the ball away. Nico Williams takes on Lodi down the right and goes down as he enters the box. Atletico clear.
23' Athletic pressure Oblak into making a quick clearance and win the ball back. The hosts have worked furiously in the opening 20 minutes or so of this game.
21' Nico Williams drives inside from the left and feeds Muniain in the box. Reinildo makes a well-timed challenge to steal the ball from the Athletic captain.
20' Martinez's left-footed shot from outside the box is blocked. Atletico earn a free-kick of their own down their right that doesn't lead to much.
Yellow Card
18' Reinildo slides in late on Inaki Williams from behind. The Mozambican is shown a yellow card. He'll miss Atletico's match against Madrid too.
17' Contrary to pre-match reports, Atletico are lined up in a 5-4-1 formation with Griezmann wide on the left. It's done them no favours so far.
15' More on Inaki Williams' goal. Athletic are undefeated in their last 20 league matches in which they've taken the lead, dating back to March last year. This is not the beginning to the game that Atletico would have wanted.
13' Inaki Williams sends a dangerous right-footed cross into the box from the left. Oblak leaves it and it rebounds off the right-hand post and out for a goal-kick!
12' Inaki Williams tries to latch onto Alvarez's throughball. He's offside though.
10' Nico Williams is awarded a free-kick in Atletico's half after being stopped by Kondogbia. Atletico haven't settled into this game yet.
Own Goal
8' GOAL! ATHLETIC BILBAO 1-0 ATLETICO MADRID! It's a fantastic start by Athletic! Inaki Williams outmuscles Gimenez to bear down on goal. His cutback from the left of the box is deflected by Hermoso past Oblak to give the hosts an early lead! That'll go down as a Hermoso own goal.
7' Inaki Williams takes down an over-the-top pass in the box and lays off to Raul Garcia, who fires over again from distance.
5' Raul Garcia's ambitious effort from the edge of the box is well off-target. Athletic have started brightly.
3' Atletico get a free-kick in Athletic's half. Hermoso gets on the end of it to nod harmlessly wide.
Yellow Card
1' Hermoso picks up an early yellow card for bringing down Raul Garcia. He'll miss Atletico's next league match against Madrid.
1' We're underway here in Bilbao!
Athletic have been a thorn in Atletico's side recently, losing just one of their last four meetings in all competitions. They're unbeaten in their last three home matches against Simeone's men, who have lost their last two visits to Basque opponents in the league. Can Athletic condemn Atletico to three such defeats in a row?
Atletico make five changes to their team from their 0-0 draw with Granada last time out. In come Gimenez, Reinildo, Herrera, Kondogbia and Suarez.
There are two changes to Athletic from their tight away victory over Cadiz. Alvarez and Yuri take Balenziaga and Vivan's places at the back.
SUBS: Javier Serrano, Benjamin Lecomte, Koke, Angel Correa, Rodrigo de Paul, Giuliano Simeone, Daniel Wass, Sime Vrsaljko, Felipe, Matheus Cunha.
ATLETICO MADRID (4-4-2): Jan Oblak (c); Marcos Llorente, Jose Gimenez, Mario Hermoso, Reinildo; Yannick Carrasco, Hector Herrera, Geoffrey Kondogbia, Renan Lodi; Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann.
SUBS: Alex Berenguer, Unai Vencedor, Nicolas Serrano, Oier Zarraga, Jokin Ezkieta, Alex Petxarroman Eizagirre, Ander Capa, Mikel Balenziaga, Inigo Lekue, Dani Vivian, Unai Nunez.
ATHLETIC BILBAO (4-4-2): Unai Simon; Oscar De Marcos, Yeray Alvarez, Inigo Martinez, Yuri; Nico Williams, Dani Garcia, Mikel Vesga, Iker Muniain (c); Inaki Williams, Raul Garcia.
Atletico won't be happy to have seen cross-city rivals Real Madrid confirm their title as champions this weekend, but Diego Simeone's men can still cement their place as the best of the rest. Atletico have won seven of their last nine league games, which bodes well for their chances of finishing in at least the top four if not the top two.
Athletic's hopes of competing in Europe next season remain just about alive after their 3-2 victory over Cadiz last time out. The Lions face an uphill struggle to catch Villarreal who currently sit seventh in LaLiga, but a victory here would cut the Yellow Submarine's lead to just one point.
