Arsenal are next in action against Manchester United on the road on Sunday in the Premier League. Villa host Manchester City on Saturday in their next outing.
Arsenal make it five wins out of five in the Premier League this season courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium. Gabriel Jesus put the home side ahead with a close-range finish to continue his impressive start to the season. The Gunners did spurn a number of chances to extend their advantage, and paid the price when Douglas Luiz equalised direct from a corner. However, Gabriel Martinelli restored their advantage three minutes later to secure the three points and keep Mikel Arteta's men top of the table.
90' + 5' Digne fouls Tomiyasu in his bid to regain possession. Arsenal can take down the clock here.
90' + 4' Nketiah weaves his way through the Villa defence and all the way to the edge of the box. He goes for power on his right foot, but lifts his effort over the top.
90' + 2' Douglas Luiz threads the ball through to Ings in the inside-left channel, but Gabriel holds his ground to fend off the forward. Ings wants a penalty, but the referee is not interested.
90' There will be five minutes of added time.
90' Martinelli surges through the middle of the Villa defence, but he drags his left-footed strike from the edge of the box wide of the right post.

D. Ings
B. Kamara
Aston Villa

B. Saka
77' Saka collects from Tomiyasu and sees Martinelli in space. He lifts a cross to the forward, who does the rest with a good finish.
Gabriel Martinelli
77' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!! MARTINELLI RESTORES ARSENAL'S LEAD!!!!! 2-1!!!!!!! The Gunners are back in front as Martinelli's strike beats the hand of Martinez to find the top-left corner. Martinelli starts the move down the left flank before working the ball across to the right flank. Tomiyasu feeds Saka, who clips a cross back to the left flank. Martinelli is there to meet it on his left foot and finds the back of the net, although Martinez will feel that he should have done better.
75' Douglas Luiz ends a 51-game run without an away Premier League goal.
Douglas Luiz
Aston Villa
74' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! DOUGLAS LUIZ SCORES DIRECT FROM A CORNER!!!!!! 1-1!!!! Villa are back in the game as Douglas Luiz arcs a corner in at the near post. Ramsdale is stranded in the middle of his goal and blocked off by Watkins. The precision of the strike on the ball from Douglas Luiz finds the back of the net. There are appeals from the Gunners for a foul on Ramsdale, but the referee and VAR agree that the goal stands.
Douglas Luiz
J. McGinn
Aston Villa
73' Douglas Luiz is on for McGinn in the middle of the park.
Philippe Coutinho

70' Saka does well in the final third, but he dwells a second too long on the ball. He fails to fire at goal and his offload to Jesus catches the Brazilian in a crowd where he loses possession.
J. McGinn
Yellow Card
Aston Villa
68' McGinn catches Odegaard with a late challenge and is booked by the referee.
66' Arteta might be a tad restless on the bench. Although his side have dominated the game, the result is not in hand yet. The Gunners have not been clinical tonight.

Aston Villa
54' Jesus gets the wrong side of Konsa and is pulled back by the defender. The Villa man goes into the book.
52' Mings is on the spot for Villa at the back again as he is first out to charge down a strike from Saka on the edge of the box.
51' Mings has to be alert in the box to knock Martinelli's chip towards Jesus in the box behind for a corner.
50' Xhaka competes with Kamara to knock the ball to Jesus, but he catches the Villa midfielder on the boot in the process and gives away a free-kick.
W. Saliba
Yellow Card
48' Saliba pulls back Watkins in the Arsenal half and goes into the book.
46' We're back under way at the Emirates Stadium.
Villa need to regroup at the break. Steven Gerrard's men have been on the back foot and could have been further behind if not for Martinez. They need to maintain their defensive resilience in the second half and hope to take a chance on the counter to try to emerge from the contest with a positive result.
Arsenal hold a 1-0 lead over Aston Villa at the break in their Premier League clash. Gabriel Jesus was on the mark in the 30th minute to turn home a rebound from close range to put the Gunners ahead. Mikel Arteta's men have been all over the visitors in the first half and should have put the game out of sight, but good keeping from Emiliano Martinez and desperate defending has kept the Villans in the game.
45' + 2' WHAT A SAVE! Martinez produces a super stop to deny Martinelli. The Brazillian latches on to a knockdown from Xhaka on the edge of the box and powers an effort at goal towards the top-right corner on his right foot. It looks to be heading into the net, only for Martinez to stick out a hand to turn it over the bar.
45' There will be two minutes of added time.
44' OFF THE LINE! Cash denies Saka with a vital block on the line as Arsenal come inches away from a second goal. Odegaard opens up the Villa defence with a chip over the top and Jesus fends off Cash before firing at goal on the turn. His effort is saved by Martinez, but Saka pounces on the rebound. He steers an effort towards goal without a great deal of power, which allows Cash to get back. The chance is still there for the hosts as Jesus tees up Tierney, but his effort is held by Martinez.
42' Odegaard swings the resulting free-kick into the box, but Martinez commits early and punches it away from danger.
41' Kamara catches Jesus with a late challenge and hands Arsenal a free-kick in a useful position.
M. Ødegaard
Yellow Card
39' Odegaard catches Watkins from behind and goes into the book.
38' Mings puts Martinez under pressure with a backpass as Saka closes down the Villa keeper. Martinez backheels the ball out of play for an Arsenal corner, much to the delight of the home fans.
36' There has been acres of space for the home side down both flanks tonight. Gerrard has not been able to find a way to stop their rhythm since Odegaard has taken control of the middle of the park.
34' Arsenal deserve their lead for their performance so far tonight. The Gunners have been free-flowing in the final third and just needed the clinical edge of Jesus to get them on the scoresheet.
32' Jesus is yet to lose a single Premier League match in which he's found the net (48 - W45 D3 before tonight).
Gabriel Jesus
30' GOALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!! JESUS SCORES!!!!!! 1-0 ARSENAL!!!! The Gunners take the lead at last as Jesus pounces on a rebound from Xhaka's deflected cross to find the back of the net. Xhaka is played down the inside-left channel by Martinelli and sends a cross towards the middle that takes a deflection off Konsa. Martinez should still make a routine save, but parries the ball into the middle of the area. Jesus is the first to react and steers his effort past the Villa keeper with his left foot.
28' SAVE! Cash and Buendia work in tandem down the right flank. The full-back makes a probing run into the box before finding Buendia, but his effort rolls into the hands of Ramsdale.
25' Arsenal are all over the visitors at the moment. Villa are having to defend deep and pray that the hosts keep spurning their chances in front of goal.
23' WHAT A MISS! Saka has to score. Xhaka leads the Gunners forward and feeds Martinelli down the left flank. He lifts a cross to the back post for Saka to attack with the goal gaping, but he lifts his first-time effort over the bar.
20' Lokonga tries to lift a ball behind the Villa defence down the right flank for White, but Digne does well to win possession and clear the danger.
18' Martinelli sends Tierney down the left flank on the charge. He angles a cross into the box towards Saka, but Mings rises highest in the penalty area to clear.
16' SCRAMBLE! Arsenal somehow are not ahead. Odegaard sends Jesus down the inside-right channel and he ousts Konsa off the ball to turn a low drive towards goal. Martinez makes the save, but Konsa fails to clear allowing Odegaard to pounce. The Gunners captain is denied twice by desperate blocks from Konsa then Mings in the six-yard box. Great defending from the visitors.
J. Ramsey
Yellow Card
Aston Villa
13' Ramsey lunges with a strong challenge on Martinelli. He wins the ball, but he goes in with studs raised. The Villa man goes into the book.
12' SAVE! Arsenal keep up the pressure and Saka sees an effort charged down. The Gunners recycle possession before Gabriel tries another drive that is repelled by Martinez.
11' INCHES WIDE! Villa fail to clear the danger from a corner and Saliba works the ball to Gabriel to strike at goal on his left foot. He lines up a powerful low drive that is deflected inches wide of the left post with Martinez rooted to the spot.
10' SAVE! Odegaard catches out the Villa defence with a quick ball over the top from a free-kick. Jesus collects in the inside-right channel, but he sees his blast from the angle palmed behind by Martinez.
10' It has been a niggly start to the game with free-kicks for both teams. Neither side has been able to find their rhythm yet.
7' Saka bursts into the Villa box down the right flank and gets held up by Mings. The winger goes down amid pressure from the Villa defender, but the referee dismisses his appeal for a spot-kick.
5' Lokonga and McGinn battle in an aerial duel, which sees the Arsenal man catch the Villa skipper in the face with a stray arm. The referee says that it was accidental and points for a drop-ball rather than a Villa free-kick.
4' CHANCE! Neat interplay between Bailey and Ramsey opens up space for Buendia in the Arsenal box, but he lifts his effort harmlessly over the bar. That was half a chance for the visitors.
3' Arsenal win a free-kick down the right flank that Martinelli whips into the box. Jesus flick-on is cleared by Villa before Tierney knocks it back into the middle. Martinelli is then penalised for a nudge on Digne.
1' A concern for Arsenal as Jesus takes a knock in the early stages of the game as he competes with Digne down the right flank. He gets to his feet after a 10 seconds on the deck.
1' We're under way at the Emirates Stadium.

Mings is restored after recovering from injury to start alongside Konsa. Ramsey slots into the midfield in place of Douglas Luiz, whie Bailey and Buendia get the nod ahead of Ings and Coutinho to support Watkins.
Arsenal have made one change to their side from their win over Fulham last time out. Mohamed Elneny is sidelined due to injury and is replaced by Lokonga in the middle of the park. White continues at right-back ahead of Tomiyasu, while Martinelli, Saka and Odegaard support Jesus in the final third.

The Midlands outfit desperately need a positive result tonight to try to turn the momentum for Gerrard and the club.

Mikel Arteta's men have been extremely impressive and are sitting top of the table.
