23:16 BST 05/08/2022
Haashim Domingo, Mamelodi Sundowns, August 2022
Masandawana produced a strong second half performance in their win over the Citizens on Friday night.
  • Ronwen Williams, Mamelodi Sundowns, August 2022

    Ronwen Williams - 7/10

Kept a clean sheet in what was a good performance on his debut for Downs.

Williams caught the eye with positioning and his distribution while also pulling off two good saves in the closing stages of the game - keeping City at bay.

  • Khuliso Mudau, Mamelodi Sundowns, February 2022

    Khuliso Mudau - 6.5/10

Solid at the back for his side.

However, Mudau didn't make his usual powerful overlapping runs as he was more concerned with stopping the hard-running Craig Martin which he did very well.

  • Aubrey Modiba, Mamelodi Sundowns, April 2022

    Aubrey Modiba - 6.5/10

Improved after a poor first half performance as he was tormented by Khanyisa Mayo.

Modiba opened the scoring with a fabulous strike from a free-kick after the restart and the goal gave him some confidence which saw him neutralise Mayo.

  • Brian Mandela, Mamelodi Sundowns, February 2022

    Brian Mandela - 7/10

Sundowns' best defender on the night.

Mandela positioned himself well and used his physicality to his advantage as he dominated in defence.

  • Mosa Lebusa, Mamelodi Sundowns, September 2021

    Mosa Lebusa - 6/10

Looked shaky in the first half when City counterattacked.

However, Lebusa improved after the restart as he was able to make some vital interceptions and clearances when Sundowns were under pressure.

  • Teboho Mokoena, Mamelodi Sundowns, February 2022

    Teboho Mokena - 8/10

Surprisingly started ahead of Andile Jali and he dazzled.

Mokoena put in a commanding performance in the middle of the park - dominating the midfield battle and he was deservedly named Man of the Match.

  • Haashim Domingo & Knox Mutizwa, Mamelodi Sundowns vs Golden Arrows, September 2021

    Haashim Domingo - 8/10

    Imposed himself on the game.

Domingo carried his team forward with his incisive forward passes and his late runs into the hosts' box created problems for City. He was involved in the build-up to both goals and he grabbed an assist.

  • Themba Zwane, Mamelodi Sundowns, October 2021

    Themba Zwane - 7/10

Neutralised by the City defence in the first half.

However, Zwane burst into life after the restart as he combined well with his teammates in the final third and he scored a sublime goal.

  • Neo Maema, Mamelodi Sundowns, November 2021

    Neo Maema - 5.5/10

Failed to impose himself on the game.

Maema couldn't take control as he would have liked, but he caught the eye with his work rate as he pressed and hurried the City defenders throughout the game.

  • Thabiso Kutumela of Mamelodi Sundowns

    Thabiso Kutumela - 5.5/10

Had a quiet first half with the hosts' defence looking solid.

Kutumela got himself into good positions in City's half, but he only fired one shot on target before being substituted.

  • Peter Shalulile, Mamelodi Sundowns, November 2021

    Peter Shalulile - 6/10

    A workhorse upfront.

Shalulile put in a decent, energetic performance - making some clever runs, but chances didn't fall for him in City's half.

  • Thapelo Morena, Mamelodi Sundowns, February 2022

    Thapelo Morena - 5.5/10

Came on in the 70th minute and looked solid defensively, but he didn't offer much going forward.

  • Mothobi Mvala of Mamelodi Sundowns.

    Mothobi Mvala - 6/10

Came on at a time (72nd minute) when City were dominating the midfield and he stamped his authority in the middle of the park - winning back possession and making some nice passes.

  • Bradley Ralani, Mamelodi Sundowns, March 2022

    Bradley Ralani - 6/10

Also came on in the 72nd minute and he kept the possession well as Downs ran down the clock.

  • Sipho Mbule, SuperSport United & Naledi, January 2022

    Sipho Mbule - N/A

Introduced in stoppage time and did not do enough to warrant a rating.

  • Lyle Lakay, Mamelodi Sundowns, February 2022

    Lyle Lakay - N/A

Also came on in stoppage time.
