GOAL predicts how the Indomitable Lions might line up against the Eagles at Al Janoub Stadium

Cameroon will be seeking their first victory at the 2022 Fifa World Cup finals in Qatar when they take on Serbia on Monday.

The Indomitable Lions kicked off their Group G campaign with a 1-0 defeat against Switzerland and another defeat against Serbia will derail their ambitions to reach the knockout stage of the global competition.

Cameroon coach Rigobert Song welcomed midfielder Olivier Ntcham to training on Saturday after missing the opener owing to muscular discomfort.

Below, GOAL predicts how Song could parade his starting XI against the Eagles at Al Janoub Stadium.

  • Andre Onana Cameroon.

    Goalkeeper: Andre Onana

Apart from conceding in the 48th minute against Switzerland, the 26-year-old Onana was superb in the group opener, making several key saves to keep Cameroon in the game.

He will likely retain his place as the Indomitable Lions go for a much-needed victory.

  • Jean-Charles Castelletto (C) of Cameroon

    Centre-back: Jean-Charles Castelletto

The 27-year-old Castelletto twice denied the advancing Breel Embolo from finding the back of the net and he could keep the role against the Eagles.

  • Nicolas Nkoulou Breel Embolo Switzerland Cameroon World Cup

    Centre-back: Nicolas Nkoulou

The former Watford defender was solid alongside Castelletto, managing to cover keeper Onana from Switzerland threats and he could partner him again.

  • Nouhou Tolo Cameroon 2022.

    Left-back: Nouhou Tolo

The 25-year-old has the required pace to move the ball forward and his crosses from the left can help the Cameroon strikers push for goals.

Against Switzerland, he created the first chance of the game which was wasted by Bryan Mbeumo and with Cameroon seeking for goals against Serbia, he will surely be relied upon.

  • Collins Fai Cameroon.

    Right-back: Collins Fai

Fai, who plays for Saudi Arabian club Al-Tai, was vital with his runs from the flanks and at one time joined the attackers to press Switzerland into their own area.

Song will be happy to deploy him in the same role against the Eagles.

  • Martin Hongla Cameroon.

    Central midfielder: Martin Hongla

The 24-year-old Hongla was lively in the midfield as Cameroon took the game to Switzerland and he also moved upfront to help the attackers.

His defence-splitting passes will be vital to help the Indomitable Lions get their first victory in Qatar.

  • Samuel Oum Gouet Cameroon.

    Central midfielder: Samuel Oum Gouet

The 24-year-old Gouet, who features for Belgian club Mechelen, formed a great partnership with Hongla dominating the Swiss side especially in the first half.

He later shifted to an advanced role when Hongla was substituted and he is a sure bet to start against the Eagles.

  • Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

    Central midfielder: Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa

He was not at his level best against the Swiss side as he failed to trouble them with his usual creativity.

However, the Napoli midfielder will likely get another chance to partner Gouet.

  • Bryan Mbeumo Cameroon.

    Right wing: Bryan Mbeumo

The 23-year-old Mbeumo had three occasions to score for Cameroon but he failed to hit the target.

He will have to be clinical against Serbia.

  • Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting Cameroon.

    Forward: Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting

Though Vincent Aboubakar was brought in as a substitute with 15 minutes left to the final whistle against Switzerland, the 33-year-old Choupo Moting will likely lead the attacking line again.

He formed a good partnership with Mbeumo and Song will be happy to see the duo get the goals.

  • Karl Toko Ekambi Cameroon.

    Left wing: Karl Toko Ekambi

On a good day, Toko Ekambi can be a threat to any defenders and it is the reason he started against the Swiss outfit and could keep his role against the Eagles.
